Hi all - sad news on my G60 - some daft woman Astra driver smacked into the back of me at around 30 and shunted me into the back of the Skoda in front  ... Around £3.5k worth of damage front & back, so the insurance company (Norwich Union) has decided it is a total loss, and unless I get back to the engineer tomorrow with evidence that it is worth more than he thinks, he will recommend that I'm paid £2k for the car. Now while the car itself is not totally mint ('91, 124K miles, usual stone chips on front but otherwise excellent bodywork & completely standard), I reckon it is going to cost me more than that to replace? Is this a good offer and should I just take the cash, or does anyone have any ideas on what I should be pushing for? Any help totally appreciated! Thanks, Andy

Excellent - cheers all, Darren from G-Werks is helping me out with the front mount :D ! Andy, think I saw you at Tesco in Corstorphine a while back - I'm down just off Ferry Road most of the time. Think it was your G60 I saw on George St a couple of weeks ago - looking good! Thanks again!

Hi all, need to replace my G60's engine mountings but have been given a cost of £130 (+ VAT) each  . Does anyone know where to get them cheaper? Many thanks!

Just had similar problem on my G60 - was cutting out & refusing to start until cool. Turns out I had two problems - faulty fusebox sending out too low a voltage to the distributor, & dizzy itself was knackered. Both have been replaced & the car is running better than it has been for years! :-P

Bingo! Problem sorted - turns out I had two problems - dodgy fusebox & distributor. Explains why the problem was so difficult to find! Just had the car out - now running like a dream!! Cheers for your help, Woody

Thanks, I've just been in touch with the garage - apparently the distributor was on its way out. Not sure in what way, buts its out on test just now so I'm hoping to pick it up later on - and of course test it thoroughly myself at the weekend. Can't wait - its been in the garage for a month!!!

My G60 has had electric problems for a while now - originally it "stuttered" after being driven hard, then would cut out altogether - strong smell of petrol too! My garage (after much faffing about) found that the voltage to the distributor was too low - 3v rather than 9v, and eventually changed the fuse box. I've just driven it home this morning and the stuttering has gone - only now the car cut out completely when being driven hard & the rev counter mysteriously stops working intermittently. Also the car failed to start (starting motor did turn) until the engine cools completely. Any thoughts about what the problem could be? Ta, WoodyG60 :(
