  1. Yep VR6 but 1001 car on a 1992 plate - however does have full ECU with distributor. Have been told by a couple of people who seen it that it is a strange mix and must have been right on clusp! What does the C in CVR6 stand for?
  2. VR6Storm - No not a conversion - the ECU wasn't reading any more codes (2 weeks ago) - but will get it read again this weekend and see if any more have appeared am assuming that won't be as this issue has been going on for soo long! xbones - am borrowing another ISV at the weekend to try so will check foam status.
  3. 2Corrados - which temp sensor was put in / was needed to be put in? Mine do look corroded but finance getting tight and am reluctant to change all three sensors if not needed! No smoke (yet!) and when its running fine it is purring - but when bad it is very, very bad! (10 mile run cut out dead 4 times this morning!)
  4. Early VR6 is hunting while cold (with threat of cutting) and cutting out when hot, also having issues starting (delay on start and then hunts for a count of 10) and worse when wet. I have changed all I can think of over the last 6 - 9 months and the ECU is now not giving any more clues as to what might make it a happier car. List of changes so far are as follows: Changed fuel pump and associated parts Knock sensors changed Throttle Potentiometer changed HT leads changed Tried Platinum plugs / tri spark plugs and normal to no effect Changed Distributor cap and arm Throttle valve cleaned (think there is a better name for this but cannot think what it is!) Tried every fuel under the sun and it doesnt really effect l/t Tried taking for long runs / short runs Changed Module / amplifier for coil Tried running on Red ex and other injector cleaners again to no real effect Could it be ECU / Temp related? Any other ideas as am now coming into winter and its not getting any drier / better and I've tried all suggested by previous topics on forum! :(
  5. KevHeyWire - will do - Cheers! Does any one else know the torque settings for these or any handy hints / techniques for removal / replacement?
  6. Ah VW didn't tell me there was more than one! Do you know if the rear one white or is that the front one?
  7. Need to replace the knock sensor on a 1991 VR6 - have been told it is one of two - brown or white - but VW cannot tell me which one it is I need - any ideas form any one?
  8. Could it be a temp sensor? Doesn't seem to be too temp orientated but am starting to clutch at straws!
  9. Have now change all the relays in the drivers footwell - as as yet have had no effect! Also changed the module, changed type of plugs / leads and the ignition switch - am running out of things to change on the car (and money)! :( Any ideas of if the immobiliser could be causing issues? Could understand it causing non starting but am bemused if it is the causing high revs and delay on pulling away.
  10. Cheers NottsCounty - Yep when it doesn't want to go it turns but doesn't fire, other times it fires striaght away with out a thought! I'll try the fuel sender - if I can track it down! Supercharged - I have changed the fuel pump (and associated bits) and my suspicions have been with the ECU but others have assured my they don't go wrong - maybe the next thing on the list after the fuel sender.
  11. Okey really need help with this issue (although not sure if this is the right place to put it anymore). Car still having issues when starting (clicky noise when it is trying from somewhere behind the dash) have replaced fuel pump, ignition switch, rotor arm, dizzy cap, plugs and leads - changing off optimax (which I have been running it on for the last 1yr) seems to help but not entirly. Car when idling also reving at 2 grand and there is a delay / misfire when trying to pull away. Any ideas as am having to run this as a day to day car at the moument cos road car has died!
  12. I have pritty much the same issue and have replaced as you have (rotor arm, dizzy cap, plugs and leads - also tried different plugs, changed fuel pump, and 10mm leads all which slight improvments but no overall solving). Have checked Vagcom but only issue that was thrown up was the knock sensor and nothing else. The only thing that I have found to help was changing the fuel (used to run religously on Opti which seemed to make it worse) and now am running on BP which seems to help.
  13. I think it depends on which age you have in comparison to the Corrardo - if you log on to Euro parts http://www.eurocarparts.com/ it should let you know which your car is and then you could see what you could get locally in Auz!
  14. Ah yes sorry it is a 1992 car on a 1993 plate  I have found that Bennetts / Webbs do the Pierburg pump for the VR6 for around £130 which I have now ordered - but they are the only peeps who can get hold of a new one for me. Am hoping that this will work out cheaper than the VW one as they have quoted me £150 for the pump and £50 -70 for all the bits that are needed to be changed with!
  15. Any thing between £85 to £200 for just the pump! Options seem to be: Pierburg VDO Bosch 1H0919651P But no one from shop can tell me which of the three I need for this car! Have read http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... fuel+pumps and might need sender kits for some pumps and perhaps not for others
  16. Could some one please reccomend a fuel Pump for 1991 VR6 - suppliers / VW are reccomending all sorts of things and am confused! Previous threads mention needing other parts to go with fuel pump - could any one mention part numbers etc and if this is necessary for the earlier models?
  17. What would a sweet little girl like me would do to get back in here... ...to make some one walk with a limp!! I guess that would depend on how much I needed to get my corrado running!
  18. Yes - Andi let me back in again if I promised to be good!
  19. Can any one help with the following (seem to be linked but don't really have a clue); - When car wet (heavy rain / washed car with hosepipe wet) immbolilser does not stop flashing and car does not start (nor radio etc) - if left between 5 to 30 minetes it will then start working as if nothing went wrong at all! - Starting issues in that engine will turn over but not start (both cold and warm) - if keep turning it will eventually go - but only if percivering! Could this be fuel pump / relay and if relay which one relates to this? I have an Autowatch 351 immboliser (alarm has been disconnected), I have been replacing relay and fuses in the drivers footwell area like they are going out of fashion with no sucess (and water link does not see to point to it being an internal issue). VW says that the car does not have a immobiliser coil (but last week they tried to sell me a dissy cap with only 5 points - then told me they didn't know anything about older cars when I tried to point out why a 4 point dissy cap would just not fit!) so what else could it be? Or where they wrong about this?
  20. Great and thank you! Rear disks not wearing evenly so probally not bad idea to change anyway. Supercharged - Any explaination of 'SFK'??
  21. Have rear wheel bearing which is going / gone in rear of car- any aid in the following would be sooo much appriachiated! - would any one know what the torque settings are? - any particular makes of bearings to ovoid / aim for? - is it worth doing rear discs / pads at same time?
