I hope it's ok, I've got these on eBay, am listing here to let people on this forum know. I've had to come to realisation that I'm not going to be getting another Corrado and we need the garage space! The price is currently @£21 which they will sell at, not quite £1 but ...!

Got the police over to dust it tonight. When it was broken into 6 weeks ago they didn't find anything but did come out straight away. This time its been a couple of days so here is hoping but I'm not holding my breath! Police are thinking like you guys that it was an attempted theft but done by idiots, strong idiots, but idiots none the less! I did wonder the same as TimDoc as to whether they were after parts - hence wondering if any one else had seen the same sort of damage.

Ok a sad situation and a bit of a sob story but I'm bemused and I'd appreciate any ideas / feedback on the below story. On leaving a wonderful day and evening at a friends wedding came back to my 'Rado to find the drivers side handle hanging off the side of the car. This caused comment :bad-words:, esp as 6 weeks ago the car was broken into and I'd only just finished with the repair to glass and paint tidy up. :censored: Upon getting into the car there were bits of plastic and metal coverings in both foot wells. It was hard to see where they had come from but on further inspection they had been covering the underneath of the steering column. The steering column was no longer fixed and would move not only up and down but also left and right. The brackets that would have been securing the column in place were on the lawn by the car, in the foot well, in fact every where they shouldn't! :confused4: The stranger thing was that the perpetrator had also dismantled the seat belt plug, but not touched any wiring or the ignition barrel! So has any one else seen damage to 'Rado / Golf similar like this? Any ideas on what was trying to be achieved? Any ideas on how to fix a wonderful car that is currently undrivable?

it will but my tool has lost one of the two 'teeth' and so it'll pull but it comes off before the plug comes out. I tried jamming the tool over the top of the string and the hose pipe but neither worked. if there is an idea as to how to fix the tool below (tooth on top is the one missing) any ideas would be great. Exactly what I thought but so far cotton, parcel string and thin wire (don't have any fatter wire) have all broken. I think it might be stuck!

Nope - I must have the wrong type of hose! (and it isn't often that a girl gets to say that!) Any other ideas along those lines would be good?

That sounds possible - I don't have a hose but my next door neighbour does! I'll give it a go now and let you know how I get on!

Ah I don't have any - and cannot get to shops as rado was my main transport! I have tried long nose pliers but these aren't long enough to get hold of the rubber top.

Corrado VR6 hasn't been running quite straight and so throught now is about time to change the HT leads. Issue is that the first lead was fine but the second lead that I have tried to remove has resulted in the lead seperating from the metal cap, so I now have a lead out and the bottom of the lead still on the spark plug. :( This would be fine exept that while trying to remove it the plastic tool designed for removing HT leads has broken, one tooth has removed leaving only one tooth to pull on the lead which isn't working! :pale: Any ideas on how to remove the HT lead metal cap, while buried on the plug, with only 1/2 a tool to get to it?? 05022010073.jpg[/attachment:2kbxqx0c]

It is distributed - but had changed the distributor / arm / etc thinking that the problem could have been seated there! Not sure it was with the coolant or with some dodgy wiring - didn't seem to be linked to the engine temperature - although did think it for a while! If the problem comes back I'll be back on here with the next set of possibles!

That is basically it - the single filament bulb fitted neatly into the dual filament bulb fitting. The single filament bulb was just one other from the kit that they sell as auto repair kits for bulbs and I didn’t look when replacing it. I didn’t think about the possibility of a bulb fitting where it shouldn’t so carried on regardless! It meant that my break lights were on all the time (or appeared to be to any on lookers) and that no one could tell I when was breaking. And that I wasted a lot of time taking out all the lights / dash / even taking the foot break mechanism apart to try and see if a switch / relay / wiring / fuse had gone!

Just for any one using this for info - I put in the wrong bulb :oops: and after skipping around the car with a multimeter for an hour stopped to have a look and realised my mistake!

Well not sure what has happened but to close the loop the car now runs straight! Waterpump bearing collapsed and after trying to drive with smoke from belt and screaming from pump made choice of asking a very nice AA man to get me to garage a very easy choice to take. Had water pump / belt changed (thanks to Mark Tempest Autocenter for not only doing a great job but doing it quickly too!) and it hasn't hunted since (although am touching wood while typing this)! :thumbleft: Thoughts have been - water pump now doing its job so temp sensors are reading right, or a dodgy wire was released / trapped when engine was lifted to change the pump and now wire sending correct readings? So still not sure which of the simplest explainations explained this one - just am glad that the car is straight (for now!)!

Are there any pointers as to locating the sensor?

I have changed the MAF and ducting to it. Had a big hole in the ducting next to it so that did make a differnce! Have also checked other areas on the air intake as much as has been possible and nothing seems blocked. Is VW the best place to get replacment sensor? Now that made all changes it is definatley happening more when hot than cold - so this could be the final change! Any clues on how to go about it? It has had exhast and cat changed to a miltech stainless set recentley so am hoping all would not be too clogged up!

Ok have now changed ISV and temp sensor with VW ones and still no difference! Any other ideas? Compression test kit on order! Would it have a lander sensor? Would this have an effect?

Been told not a relay - and probally not a fuse by VW. Just cannot find where supposed to earth to. The only place that have found is to the inside of the drivers side light cluster - but all clean and nice and tidy so don;t think it is this one!

It was pointed out to me on the way to work tody that my rear lights were not working - checked and this was the case. However on further inspection the brake lights don't work when the lights are on either full lights or side. The fogs do show however - so I am using them when ever braking - Creative driving is the way forward! But the brake lights do show when no lights on! Had quick glance at loom but nothing obvious - can some one tell me where the rear clusters earth? Wether there is a relay / fuse that might effect this?
