It's still going fine now and I never had to touch the controller. If it starts again I will be looking there.

Well, removed all the fuses one by one - no problems there. Took out the door card, checked all the wires OK and intact, not snagging etc - no problems again. Unplugged switch connector and reconnected, no problems. Sod it. Put it all back together and.... They work fine now! Thanks for the suggestions. Ted

I don't have a full closure alarm so I don't think it is related to that. Could be the switch but it affects both windows. Maybe have to replace that first and see if it sorts it unless anyone else has any experience of this.

A couple of days ago I found that the windows wouldn't always go down. I could hear the motor starting but no movement. It gets worse. When I have the window partially open and try to open them more the window will only go up no matter which way I have got the switch pressed. As if I wasn't hacked off enough it has now started closing on its own! Blasting along the bypass and they just start closing! Any ideas or experience of this?

I like mine too but the Mrs hates it! Our other car being a Vectra probably helps me appreciate it - they really are uncomfortable.

Traffic Cop Gets away with driving at 159mph
fatherted replied to G60Jet's topic in General Car Chat
I agree about the 159 on the M54 but over 70 in a 30 zone? That should be a ban at any time of day or night. -
I do a bit of mountain biking and actually have a bottle of muck off I received gratis. Might give it a try to compare with wonder wheels. If you think that is a bit steep MBR magazine recently discovered Fenwicks Caravan Cleaner. It is supposed to be good for cleaning bikes and is pretty cheap due to the high volume used on caravans!

I failed my MOT with the CAT last year and consulted local VAG specialists JBS Autodesigns. They managed to source one for £150 plus VAT and fitted the thing for a total price of £230.

What, to clean them? Preserve them? Or just make them taste better?

Before the C when I was blasting around the roads on two wheels I had loads of problems with bonded on brake dust. I always used wonder wheels to shift the stubborn stuff (particularly on second hand bikes) which did a great job. I then discovered that just polishing the wheels with the same polish I was using on the bodywork meant that next time the wheels were a doddle to clean. It took 2 or 3 sessions with wonder wheels to clean off all the stubborn stuff that was on the C alloys when I got it.

At least you were somewhere where there was an authority on hand to inconvenience them with a clamp and force them to pay a fine.

Highest Millage in one Calender Year

This was definitely a private owner (only had two before me). Probably did a big daily commute! -
Can anyone else add anything to this to assist with choosing VW vs Brembo (or anything else for that matter). A local garage fitted pads and discs 16 months ago but they must have been very poor quality. Warping off the disk is obvious under low and high speed braking and a recent inspection revealed pads that had come completely free of the backing! I have banged in some new Ferodo pads as a n emergency measure but now need to make a choice about which disks to use.

Highest Millage in one Calender Year

Based on the service history (stealer stamped) the previous owner of my VR6 put 25k on the clock in 10 months. -
I made a great saving this year through the confused.com website. You have to fill in loads of details but they then process it through other websites on your behalf. Saves you loads of time and helps you rule out a load of insurers in one go. I am 33 and got £280 fully comp with Direct Choice - £over £100 cheaper than my next best quote. Note though that this was for a 100% standard C and they won't cover any mods at all.
