  1. ok, so how do i remove the dash?
  2. Yesterday my heater matrix sprung a big leak and stared leaking coolent into the footwells. For the moment ive just bypassed the matrix by joining the two pipes together that go through the bulkhead. How can i get to the matrix to replace it? It doesnt look easy, do i have to take out the dash? If so how? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Think your right. No the gauge doesnt move at all. Thanks for the info. I'll get back on to dealer and see what he says.
  4. Strange. I went to the dealer and they said the yellow sensor (701 919 369D) had been replaced by the black one with a blue line round it (104 108 435). On the bag it says thermoswitch. It seems to be operate the fans and aux water pump fine, but its not working the temp gauge.
  5. Do you mean the black plug with a blue line round it had 701 919 369D as a part number?
  6. Been having a few problems with my temp sensors. Replaced yellow one today and it solved most of my problems except that my temp gauge isnt working. Replaced the yellow 4 pin - 701 919 369D With black and blue 4 pin - 104 108 435 Not sure if its the correct replacement. Can anyone confirm these part numbers?
  7. Coolent level in the header tank is just below the max mark so something else must be making the light come on. My C dosent have air con but does have the black 2 pin sensor. Took it out and tested it but got no reading so im thinking its broke. I got the part number off it and ordered a new one from the stealer. Should be here friday, so i'll let you guys know the outcome. Thanks for all your advice.
  8. Thanks for all the advice folks. Gonna replace the sensors and see what happens.
  9. No i dont have air con. Checked the wireing, seems to be ok. Any ideas if this black sensor is the cause of the problem?
  10. ok, i just tested all three sensors with the multimeter. The yellow four pin sensor seems to be ok as does the blue two pin sensor. The black one is giving me no reading, so i guess its shot. What is the black one for?
  11. Thanks for the advice guys. Coolent level is ok but the heater isnt blowing out hot air, just warm i would say. I'll get to work on the air lock but as for the electrical fault i have tested the resistance of the blue and black sensors and im getting no reading. Is this normal? Also what are the for: Blue Black Yellow?
  12. Thanks for the reply. Yes i refilled it through the header tank. Do you know the best way to get the traped air out?
  13. Just done a search, cant find anything. Reacently changed the thermostat housing due to leakage and replaced the thermostat while i was there. The car ran ok for a week or so untill yesterday when the temp gauge went of the chart and the coolent light started flashing. I left the car for a couple of hours and started it again but the temp was still of the chart even though the coolent was cold. Now the temp gauge dosent even move but the light still flashes. Any Ideas?
  14. Thanks guys! That guide is exactly what i need! Off to maplins now to sort it out. Cheers!
  15. My heater blower is now only working on the 4th setting so im thinking its somthing to do with a resistor. Any idea where the resistor is? And can i fix it or do i need to get a new resistor?
  16. No, all the rotors are there so i guess one or more is shot. Well thanks for your help. Hopefully it wont be anything more than a sensor or two and some rotors.
  17. Thanks. As for the resistance of the sensors, can they be knackered even if they are giving a 'normal' reading on the multimeter?
  18. Yes, i replaced abs relay 79 and 179.
  19. Thanks. I replaced the rear discs and pads recently so i think that might explain the machanical malfunction there. Im gonna clear the codes and see what come up. I also gote fault code: 01276 - abs hydraulic pump 16-00 - signal outside specifications Should i be worried?
  20. No i didnt clear the codes first so i think your right, most have proberly built up. Think i'll get 'em cleared and start again. Watch this space! Cheers guys.
  21. I recently used vag-com to try and diagnose my abs problem. The faults it found where mainly with the wheel sensors. Thing is i dont understand if they need replacing or not. Can anyone help? 00285 - front right 35-00-- 00290 - rear left 16-00 - signal outside specifications 00290 - rear left 04-00 - mechanical malfunction 00287 - rear right 04-00 - mechanical malfunction Does 'signal outside specifcations' mean its knackered or not? Also the front right sensor fault code doesnt say whats wrong? I tested the resistance of the sensors with a multimeter and they all read 1.4k ohms. Any sudgestions?
  22. Cool. Id be happy be drive to you. Do you have the older 2x2 connector?
  23. Ive tried emergency stops in the wet and the wheels lock so i guess the pump isnt activating. Havent replaced the pedal postition sensor yet, thats the next step but i thought id try and get the fault codes read before i spend any more money.
  24. Anyone got vag-com in the birmingham area? Ive had my corrado a year now and recently put it in for its MOT. The tester failed it due to the abs light not working. Turns out the git who had it before me took the bulb out. As ive never had a car with abs before i didnt notice it. Got a new warning light from the stealers (£43!) and it passed. However the second i hit 15 mph the light comes on. The long and the short of it is i cant track down the problem. I,ve swaped the ecu with one known to be ok. Replaced relays and tested all sensors with a multimeter (all read 1.4k ohms). Nothing seems to solve the problem. Can anyone help?
