  1. I've had the same thing happen with the rear bushes. Very scary moment whilst ona long motorway off ramp, a seam in the raod threw the car. New interior now required....
  2. Help, please Need to do the clutch master cyclinder, and the Bently manual only gives you the exploded diagram.......
  3. Do you mean this one?:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Passat-Petrol- ... 3a5e7cb65a It says it does not cover the 16V. Mine is a 2.0l 16V. That was why I wondered if the Golf was a better bet.
  4. cool, found a copy. Looks like it will be very useful. :D Wouldn't a haynes golf manual be a worthwhile investment? The bently doesn't have step, by step picture guide for numpties like me :? and if so the Mk2 or Mk3?
  5. I too am interested in this. Appear to be a couple of options on ebay as well. A paperback manual (£15) or a CD (£5) any opinions?
  6. fanastic find!! I think the best bit is the feedback.
  7. Hi, Have owned a Corrado for about 6 years now. Unfortunately for the last 4 it has been SORN off the road, and patiently waiting for me to get around to restoring it. We didn't need the two cars, and couldn't justify running, tax , insurance etc. However things change, and the misses has a new job. we need both cars again. About a week ago it was picked up by my local garage - was litterally dragged of the drive way - the brakes had stuck on. Felt reaaly sad, as I didn't know what the damage was going to be, and if I would be able to afford to get it back on the road. Made me realise how much I love it :( It hadn't been run in at least a year, as even topping up the battery, it wouldn't start. I thought maybe the starter motor had seized. So, the garage jump started it, fired first time!!! All it needed was disks, pads, and a power steering pump! Amazing, they don't make them like they used to. Passed its MOT. A few minor things to sort, clutch a bit sticky, and missfiring, but not bad at all. So now the work starts on getting it sorted. Have bought up a few bits - bonnet, boot, wing. need a respray, an would like a newer interior, but she is back. The funny thing is that the kids seem to adore it as much as I do.
  8. Added. Cool idea, I am also surprised there aren't more.
  9. I have water in the front foot well, car is sat on the flat (ish) water seems to be collecting in the front RHS of the foot well. as if it is coming down somewhere in the middle of the dash. If I cannot find an likely entry point, it must be some cabling in the bulkhead, or the windscreen. either way if nobody has a good suggestion it is out with the dash.... (a job I am not looking forward to.) It would be OK if id didn't rain so bloody much in Glasgow!
  10. HELP, Same problem, but I have fixed the air intake, and the water is still finding its way into the passengers foot well. I have taken the heater module out, and the glove box bit, pulled all the carpets up and the water seems to be getting in somewhere and trickling down into the foot well next to the transmission tunnel. Checked the sunroof drains, but not sure how far you are supposed to poke something in.
  11. Heardy, No doesn't have aircon. I think I'll try the seal first and then get the misses to through buckets of water at the car and see if there is any sign of a leak, maybe that is what I should have done to start with, as it would rule out what looks like a right pain in the arse - if it is the heater matrix. I'll try the Chateau Neuf de Corrado! :drinking:
  12. OK, Dismantled the door (which was easy, as done before) and the membrane was fine still sealed all the way around. The inside of the door panel was dry. I ripped up more of the mating in the footwell, and I am really suspision of it being the fan, dispite clearing out the leaves. I found a dribble of water on a tube which I presume is the rear washer. Where is this seal? Is it on the outside where the vent is at the back of the engine bay, or do you take the fan out and it is somewhere in the dash? Car has not been running (moved 5min walk form work - so took it off the road to save for paint job) so don't think it is the heater matrix, but who knows....where is it? is it the stuff stuck to the chassis in the footwell?
  13. Thanks guys, I'll dismantle the door. I have done that once (a long time ago) to replace a door handle, so maybe the membrane is come unstuck. I seem to remember it used loads of black tack to hold it in place.
  14. Ok done a bit of investigation:- vr6storm - you were right there was a load of rubbish at the fan air intake. worth doing even if it wasn't the source of the leak (none of the leaves & debris were over the vent. Amazing how much stuff was in there though. We don't even have that sort of tree by the house.... mrbeige - you can see the sound deadening is soaked, and no smell of coolant, so like you said either it is on water, or not the problem. will run it till toastie and see what happens. Door seals where can I get 'em. will stealerships still stock them?
  15. If I do need to do the door seal anyway, can you still get them form VW, or from any where else cheaper?
  16. I don't think there is a smell of coolant. I have found leaves and rubbish in the gully at the top of the engine bay, so maybe it is the fan vent. I'll have to have a good poke around. The car has been sat for the last six months, so it might be a small leak that has just collected in the footwell. Sorry for being dim but running the car hot and the heater on full will should show what? It overheats because there is no coolant in the system for the engine? Thanks for the suggestions, more investigation required.
  17. Thanks guys, a few questions more please:- Heater Matrix - Is that the grey plastic thing stuck to the chassis? How do you know if it is that, and how do you replace it. Is it something I could do or is it an expencive trip to the garage? scuttle panel area - I that the area at the very top of the engine bay hidden behind a plastic cover?
  18. Ah the list of problems goes on..... The passenger footwell is well and truely wet. I think it is the door seal letting the rain in. (just below the speaker) Can these be replaced? Are they easy to get hold of? Any advise?

    Paint Job

Thanks guys. Been doing a but of digging around for local body shops, (just moved to new area of Glasgowe) and I think I have found a small local guy. He comes highly recomended - by one of our new neighbours down the road, who is a traffic cop, and I just found out he is the brother of somebody I know at work!

How is that panel attached to the chassis, is it welded and filled at each end?
