  1. The supply hose connection to my current PAS pump is angled slightly upwards but the one that i've just been given as a replacement is horizontal. Is this right does it make any difference where it's pointing? It's a 2l 9a by the way.
  2. Cheers, i'd really like to use the dealers own but it's just too big a difference especially when the "few small bits" i ordered added upto such a ridiculous amount of money, £40 for a sump gasket, shocking.
  3. ok, so i've got a 2.0l 16v 9a c and its time for a bottom end rebuild, now from VAG the oil pump is £125.49 ex vat and from GSF it's £38.50 ex vat. I want it to be done properly but that difference in price is a bit hard to resist. Is there that much difference in quality, which should i go for.Any suggestions?
  4. Very true but at this point i can still take the suff back, If i do that non of it can go back and i loose all the money. But that is an option.cheers

    DIY spray job

hi, ok so i got my c cheap as a fixer-up-a and it came with some dodgy bodywork but mechanically was sound enough. Well after owning it for six months i've spent too much on other things for it and can't really afford for all the bodywork to be done proffessionally so i decided to do some of the smaller things myself leaving only the bigger dents for the bodyshop, I have had enough spraying experience and feel confident enough to have a go but just don't know anything about the different types of paint. So the paint code is L041 (black) and according to everywhere this is a basecoat with laquer which is fine but i just had some 2 pack paint mixed and got the primer, thinner and activater to go with it but no laquer. So finally my question is this if i spray one of my wings with this 2 pack paint with a 2 pack laquer will it be ok and match the rest of the car of will i just be wasting my time and need a different paint altogether? Sorry for such a long description but i do worry about my c and if its ever finished i want it to be spot on. Any help would be great. Cheers.
  6. They part numbers don't match the Audi head either.
  7. The part number on my head (9a block) is 051 103 373 according to ETKA it should be 051 103 351. I bought another head cheap whos part number is 027 103 373 which came with inlet manifold with part number 027 133 223(upper section). My question is what block is the new (cheap)head and manifold off, and will it be ok with my engine. Also why does ETKA not recognise both of these heads part numbers they are almost the same apart from the 373 on the end what does this mean. it also has no record of the inlet manifold part number. Whats going on. Sorry for all the numbers any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Hello, i have a black c with paint code L041 which is listed as not being a metallic paint but there are a couple of areas around the windscreen and at the base of the arial where laquer is peeling. Is this right. should this paint code have a coat of laquer or not? Also how is 2 pack paint mixed, what is the ratio paint to hardener, I read 3 parts paint 1 part hardener and 10% thinner does this sound right? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. Could someone tell me what is difference is between the kr and the 9a heads?
  10. Or if anyone knows other manufacturers plug part numbers for this engine
  11. Hello, the other day when trying to buy spark plugs the 2.0l 9a eng wasn't listed in the shops spark plug book. After checking on the computer i was sold some NGK BCP7ET's are these correct for the 9a? i'm a bit worried after reading on ebay that these were for the kr only. cheers.
  12. ok, so i've found a strap that looks like an earth strap comming off the right hand side of the head by the dizzy but is not connected to anything, it's just hanging there free. Can someone tell me where this strap is meant to connect to. i'm sure its no problem but i would just like to know. many thanks.
  13. Cheers for that. But what are the brown and white sensors above the oil filter?
  14. Hello i am the new happy owner of a 2.0l 16v c but have a few problems. The first being the oil pressure warning light. It doesn't work, possibly just the LED, but a homemade light has been fitted into the dash just by the ABS light and fog lights etc. I have traced this light to the white coloured sensor above the oil filter. Is this the correct sensor? The light does come on when the ignition is turned and goes off when the engine is started but i'm just a bit worried about my oil pressure not being right. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also the dash lights behind the milage and MFA sections do not light any suggestions. Many thanks.
