Cheers GradeA Ill give them a buzz and see what can be done there. Know what ya saying Jim, just too much money spent on fixes, the old alarm works just fine so see how I get on with electro. Sane

Dont know how, just one of those twilight moments when car keys vanish and you cant for the life of you remember when or how, just gone! I have the original alarm system and still have a spare key set, but the fob is playing up. So can anyone who has since updated their alarm and have redundant fobs please send me one, at least then I can reset and have a proper working fob, oh and where do I get another key cut to match? This would be much appreciated and a large drinks on me at the next every-ones-going-to-be-there meet. :notworthy: This is some car, but wallet hungry. Sane (just)

Thanks Goldie, Will check temp sensors in t-housing and fan motor connector for 3 fan stages. Crossing the thermoswitch only got one fan speed though! Ill keep testing. -
VR6 Cooling questions (Major Breakthrough - Last Page )
sane replied to Goldie's topic in Engine Bay
Hi Goldie Been following the thread, you must be an expert on VR temps by now. Im having similar problems with my VR. Reading on the dash says 110 and no fans cutting in. Droped it to my local garage where they tested it and said everything was fine!!! and that when its reading 110 on dash the actuall water temp in the engine bay is about 95, so the dash guage is way out! What I found strange was they said it only had one fan speed!, I said are you sure but they said yes! They said maybe with AC on the car that there would be a low draw on the fan when its needed with the AC on. At the mo the AC is empty so cant test this as the dash has to come out to replace blown matrix. Is it possible to have one fan speed or perhaps its fan on at 95c (dash reads 110c) then if it reached 110c (dash reads 125c) then fan on even stroger, dunno but does AC change the setup in any way?. I crossed the terminals (outside ones) on the tswitch connector and the fan worked at high speed, but just this speed only, crossing middle and outside terminal just gets the water flow pump wheezing. Have you and others had such out of synch dash temps? and where can I get a replacement if it cant be fixed? All the best Daniel -
Storm's a bit poorly. After a winter under cover, I start her up and she blows the matrix after overheating! After reading similar searches I have the following guestions, please can the gurus on here help with some direction. 1. The plug pulled off the tswitch is round with terminals in a triangle fashion. I crossed the two outside one's and the high speed fan came on with ignition on. Any other combination including ignition off no fans come on, just the pump noise when crossing middle (top) with right (outside). What does this mean about the Themo Switch ? 2. Left the engine to warm up-top hose hot bottom hose cold!. When I turned the engine off the bottom hose became hot! What does this mean about the Stat? 3. How would I check if the water pump is ok? On the other and much bigger problem is the Matrix. 1. Spoke to Vince at Stealth and he said 8 hrs @ 45+vat and 100 for the Matrix , ouch! Was looking to do the matrix myself BUT does having the Daivia AC make this a big complication getting everything out? Originally and having seen thread I wanted to have a go with dash in. There are some great blokes on this board when it comes to technical wizardry, if anyone needs some cash and can easily fix the above mentiond jobs then im happy talk about it, Just wanna be on the road again. Im in west London or if I fix the overheating asap I can obviously travel. All the best, Daniel

Fixed !!! glovebox light had blown then blew the fuse which also stoped the spoiler and then the car stoped. Why does the glove box/spoiler fuse going stop the car from running, some strange wireing i think! sane

Had the flat battery off for recharge and took the storm for 100 mile drive. stopped the car, then had to transporter it home as it would cut out just after startup! maybe some inlet sensor gone or something, or maybe immobiliser fault anyhow desparate for someone in Central/West /N.West/S.West london area to help out with their vag-com. sorry i cant come to you, large drink on me. im in W3 Acton. cheers chris. billinjahg60, south of france def on my list next year. DanA, thanks, i have new standard shocks up front and koni ajustables on softest setting at back, and lowerd 30mm all round with eibach springs. looks much better, handles well and is still soft enough not to be too crashy in town. biggerbigben, ah the memories! dig776, thanks, enjoy your trip in september, its what these cars are made for. dr mat, go on take the C, the sheer pleasure is worth the extra 100pounds plus you would want to do all the driving. sane

Took off to France in May with my girlfriend for a 7 day road trip through Brittany, Normandy, then across to Burgundy and Champagne. Just had the Storm 2 weeks and couldn't wait to get going. Covered 1800 miles in one week, just absolutely superb, what a car and a/c to stay fresh. The car is standard apart from a small drop to complement an outstanding machine. A few pics along the way. sorted the thermoswitch with a 85/93 degree c. now working fine. still need to sort the run on. someone tell me where to locate it on the engine, how to test it and where i can get a replacement, is it gsf/euro or vag? thanks to those who helped diagnose the thermoswitch prob. sane

my vr6 water temps. heats up at standstill, all the way to 105c before high speed fan cuts in, (no low speed fan) but only for a few seconds before stopping for a minute before another short blast. i think this due to faulty thermo switch, and will replace it to see. however i have no run on fan when the engine is shut down, again there might be a faulty sensor involved here. how do you check this ? what does this sensor look like? pumps running, i can hear it ! and top/bottom hoses get hot so tempstat should be ok. appreciate a bit of feedback on this. thanks, sane
-
yeah, after searching about, the rad thermo switch sounds like a good place to start. thanks ps exactly where is it located and can they be had from GSF/EURO's

new vr6, just getting to know how it runs. water temp is fine on the open road but in town its straight up to 110 untill the open road again. the oil goes up to 118+ in town too. can someone please explain the fans cut in time and at what temp. have to check further, but it seems that one fan finally cuts in at 110 water temp and not seen second fan on. is the fan alone supposed to bring the temp down, because my fan comes on for like 5 seconds then stops before a further burst of 5 seconds a minute or two later. feedback appreciated sane
