I have a 94 VR6 and had to change the spring plate for the larger size 1H0 412 341. If you have 357 412 341A Then you have the smaller plate size. If your spring plate doesn't look right then I suggest you change it for the larger type, otherwise the spring at the very least will damage the plate.

I installed a climatronic unit from a Golf earlier this year into my VR. It took a couple of days to do, dash in and out a couple of times for the location studs, drain line and opening up the bulkhead for the evaporator tubing/expansion valve. I also didn’t have a wiring diagram and still don’t, (any help here would be welcome) eventually got it going, all flaps work automatically etc. It was my intention to do a full Air Con installation, but that’s as far as I got. I now need hoses to complete. Already have all the other bits.

I've installed some of these  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 51774&rd=1

It was the small brass restrictor/valve I was on about, in the small hose that tee's off to the throttle body from the cylinder head to the heat exchanger. I only found out through the VWvortex forum. This link might help. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=885888 or else do a search on vwvortex.....samco...Archived content....corrado hope this helps

Just incase you miss this, there's also a small restrictor/check valve located in the hose between the heater core and the throttle body, you may have to cut the old hose to get it out.

There is a black control module in the engine bay, just in front of the expansion tank (just follow the cables from the fan)you'll find the fuses there.

Smoked In Pros just arrived, an all round excellent service, thanks again Tempest for sorting this. :D

When you start the Air Con the magnetic clutch on the compressor should engage and the engine revs should increase to compensate for the extra load on the engine. In your case the clutch is not engaging so it sounds like either a fuse is blown or the system is low on pressure and the low pressure switch is preventing the clutch engaging. I would take it to garage and get them to check the system pressure, be prepared to pay about £50 or more to top it up.

This seems to have gone flat again...any updates. :?:

:) I've just upgraded to the Lupo conversion from a single wiper, which did n't clear enough of the screen for me, but it's a lot better than the origonal set up. I still have the single conversion in the garage, which I no longer need. pm me if you want it.
