  1. I'm after your opinions people for the following Corrado dilemma: I bought a G60 (Shilakadaddy's red one) in September last year, which I've been really enjoying as an upgrade to my previous 16v. My younger brother has asked if he can buy it off me for the price I paid, as he is after a corrado and can only get his insurance switched(policy still got 9 months left) to a 16v or G60, not VR6 due to a age restriction of 21. (He is a speed freak so 16v won't do) Now, I'm only 20 so insurance was sorted by Brentacre on a modified policy. I've phoned them and John can change my policy to a VR6 with no extra charge - except £25 admin. So, do I buy a VR6 (there are a couple with leather that look nice on the forum) for about £1500 extra, as a kinda favour to my brother. My G60 has about 190bhp so performance not too different I imagine. I kinda feel that I haven't had the G60 long enough to pass it on (only had 4 months) and that the VR6 will simply cost me more in fuel and not give me more enjoyment for the extra outlay. I am fortunate to have the extra cash, so spending it is not a problem in itself. What does everyone think I should do??? PS Sorry to re ignite the age old G60vs VR6 debate...
  2. That's mine alright! Nice to know the car is well known on the forum! It's got some smaller BBS 16" wheels now, and the lip spoiler thingy isn't on. Paintwork is surprisingly strong - not too faded. It would be nice to know what sort of power its putting out now - I guess a bit less than in those days but you never know. I'll post some piccies of the current status when the weather brightens up - not planning to modify really, just keep it running sweet.
  3. Thanks guys - can't actually feel the vibrations in the cabin - just hear them. It's a metallic type noise - could well be the heatshield. I'll check this out. Don't think its the big end bearings as the previous owner stripped the engine down and had a thorough check. (@150K) The car may have had a hard life anyway - found out it was a Stealth demonstrator at some point in it life! Red G60 H474 SNT if anyone knows about it. Cheers
  4. After a long drive in the G (approx 100 miles) on the motorway, the car makes a strange rattling/vibrating noise when accelerating through about 2500rpm. This happens in every gear at the same revs, it sounds like it is coming from the manifold area (guess) but not being too technically minded I'm not sure. Engine performance seems unaffected. Car is a tuned G60, SNS, 68mm pulley, etc.. Last charger service carried out 2004. Does anyone have any ideas or experience of this problem, or how to possibly fix this. Thanks
  5. Looked at a red s2 coupe on the trader located near chichester with only 81k! Looked superb but very dodgy history - the owner had it resprayed a month ago and has no receipts at all or service stamps since the year 2000! Kinda put me off on such a specialist car... Also did not seem that fast when I drove it. Was expecting a real shove but felt slower than a vr6. Hmm, methinks something not right there.
  6. Saw a nice blue (maybe midnight or simliar) modified rado at about 1pm today near sainsburys hedge end. i was cruising in the white valver - got the thumbs up as we crossed past each other. Anyone?
  7. Hi all, been lurking on the forum since last summer when I bought my lovely alpine white 16v (will hopefully get pics up asap). However not really posted due to being a forum rookie in general. Anyway, after mk2 golfs etc i am really enjoying the rado, and hope to get to know the forum better in the future. Quick question tho - got quoted £65 for dyno run and £120 for full tune up by Vag-tuning in Southampton. Never been on a dyno run before - so is this worth the money? Does the tune up really make a difference? Quite tempted, just wanted some other opinions before going ahead and spending more of my hard earned student loan :D
  8. Veedub_Rado, insurance is a bit of a killer at this age I pay about £1500 but to be honest you'd pay around 1000 for a shopping trolley. Defo worth the extra to be in something nicer IMO. I live near Southampton for those asking by the way - the corrados in the street idea would go down a treat LOL
  9. Some classic comments already, can't wait to see his reaction when I post them through his letterbox! Also PeTeL, are you at Soton uni too - just looking at your location. Good to get such a strong response - keep it up
  10. Hi Everyone I've just bought my first corrado, a lovely 16v model which I am chuffed to bits with. It's in great condition and will hopefully post pics soon. Anyway, it seems my next door neighbour is not happy about having to look out onto my C - he went on a rant one day (out of the blue) and, amongst other insults, branded my new car a HEAP OF JUNK!? Now, I was pretty annoyed, but wait till you hear what he drives - the ultimate status symbol, the BMW 316/318i !!!(can't remember which) I found this hilarious coming from a 30 ish year old guy slating my choice of vehicle, which I think is pretty good for a 19 year old university student! Come on everyone, I encourage you to give your views on this story- and I would like to print the responses and personally hand them to him. Thanks Joel
