  1. I'm guessing you got the chrome door pulls off e-bay? It's the only place I have ever seen then for sale for Mk. II Corrado interior (this pull design apears to be unique to this interior which only ran from 1992-1996). I fitted these recently to my car and yes, they do stick out a bit, but I found that they could be 'fettled' to fit better. The casting was not top notch and mine had some execess metal on the rear front leading edge where it closes onto the black plastic mounting box. Carefully filing this back flat made them fit much better. (These look pretty good I think, especially when combine with, as you suggest, chrome heater knobs and in my case, chrome raising lock pins. Pitty handbrake leaver knob cannot be 'chromed' also) David Pentland
  2. Hello. This is my first Corrado Forum post so hope I'm doing this in the right place (I was unable to post in the 'parts for sale' one)? In the spirt of Corrado ownership I would like to share the fact that I found a Corrado for spares last weekend in a Scottish scrapyard (this is a very rare occurance in my experience). It's a Torrnado Red, K reg, 2.0l 16v with mark 1 interior. It has had passenger side, front corner damage, including wing, headlight, grill and bumper. I did not see the bonnet. Dash dials are away and I took the rear lights. Apart form that. most else seems to still be there including alloy wheels (all 4 I think? standard flat faced 2.0l 16v type), a good looking drivers door handle (late replacement type - but screw rusted up so I could not take even after scooshing with WD40 - someone else may now have more luck!), good interior including cloth seats, center console, under dash trays, rear parcel shelf, etc, sunroof, tailgate and engine (engine looks complete but is under a load of other crap so hard to tell), front drivers wing and headlight. The yard is at the back of Kircaldy east in Fife, off the A915 near Boreland, in the Randolph Industrial Estate in Randolph Place and the car is near the main entrance, on the left as you go in. I hope this is of help to you guys .... David Pentland, (btw, can anyone help me find a compatible Auto gear knob with chrome button - I believe they came on some late '90's Golfs?)

    Side strips

If you do want to put them on I'd use double sided sticky foam mounting tape. You can get rolls of this in Halfords, B&Q, etc. Some are better / stronger than others though.
  4. Mmmm - Meths: no good, White Spirit: no good, Label Remover Spray: no good, 3-in-1 oil: no good .... oh well, last resort ... Cellulose Thinners!: wow success. Now I know what you are thinking - is he mad - thinners will take the paint off! Well that's what I thought too but, even with much rubbing, no paint seemed to come off - perhaps because it's metalic and the laquer protects? I think they would ruin flat paints? Still needed quite some effort even using the thinners... after pulling the strip off, used plastic scrapper to remove as much of foam as possible then thinners on rag to soften remaing adhasive followed be dry rag to take off. T-cut and polish to finish off.

    Side strips

Strips Off: Looks better (matter of taste) Easier to clean / polish car Don't offer much side protection anyway Reduce chances of rust starting underneath Strips On: Looks worse (matter of taste) Non-standard Hard to remove Removes slight protection given to end of door when opening Harder to polish car / keep strips looking black
