Well to explain why I need a new one, I did have a "bump" to the rear axle and I know its bent, you can visibly see it from the wheels, although some people can't tell, if you look carefully you can tell. So I defo need a new axle. I'll fone up the place and ask about more details and get Vince's advice about it too I suppose. Reckon I should powdercoat it?
-
Hey guys, I think this is the right place since I'm only looking for advice. I found a second hand rear axle from a breaker and they give 90day warranty with it. Do you think I should be ok with or should I stump up and pay the full price via dealer? The reason I ask is cos via breakers it will cost me £75 plus £25 delivery, but £450ish via dealer.... Any advice appreciated (I'm itching to get this sorted since I have some money and have been meaning to do it for ages now) EDIT: Sorry should add, the breakers number, I got from Vince at Stealth if that would persuade you any further towards the breakers?

Riley: Thanks for the replies mate, much appreciated

The touchup is the exact code to match my paint mate, and the kit came with laquer, so should I defo use laquer? I definitely let the paint harden though, maybe just try building it up again? Should I build up the paint to level with the paint and then add laquer? Thanks for the tip with the 800/1000 grit, will try it, see how I get on

Anybody any ideas to my previous post?
-
Before After This is what I've ended up with, I've used paint and laquer and then wet sanded it down and then buffed it quickly, but the touchup paint is nowhere near matching the original paint. Anyone any ideas why this has happened? How can I fix this?
-
Thanks for that herisites, I've already bought Poorboys stuff so hopefully that will help, they haev a very abrasive compound too, shall see how I get on.
-
Does anyone know what I should get, paint bottle, paint pen or spray can? Would VW be the best place to get the paint from or somewhere else? Will I need anything else on top of the paint like laquer or anything?
-
Hey Therapor, how are you? Lol, teeth pulling ok, all becoming routine now. Yeh I think I'll give Chipsaway a call and see what they make of it aswell... after I try it myself, lol.
-
Haha, oh how I would love to do that... And yeh, does anyone know if I should get the "Touchup paint bottle", "spray can" or "paint pen" ?

Funnily enough it was at a "car cruise", a few forums around Scotland had gotten together and decided to meet up in Dundee, I took my car along and thats where it happened, the place you would least expect it to happen. herisites: I definitely want to try it myself first, this is something I really do want to do myself for some strange reason. I will get a rotary and practise on a scrap panel and see how I get on, thanks a LOT for the help mate. Unfortunately I dont frequent the Edition 38 forums so it might be a little cheeky asking for a sort of "dubbers discount", but I'll keep them in mind, lol. craigowl: Being a dentist, I'm extremely steady with my hands and I'm a bit of a perfectionist which is why I feel I can at least try and tackle it. If I'm not happy then I'll pay for it but I do want to try it myself. Thanks for the words people

Should I get "Touchup bottle", "Aerosol spray paint" or "Paint pen" ? Would I definitely have to machine polish it? Since its a small area, would I not get away with doing it by hand but use proper abrasive and obviously take it easy to start off with?
-
herisites: Thanks a lot for that, I'm glad you gave positive words there, gives me hope I sort it out myself rather than fork out hundreds getting it sprayed again. ninoG60 and Fizz : If only I knew who did it...

There are 2 other scratches on the driver's rear quarter panel but this is the deepest. I was wondering, instead of having to respray the whole door, would I be able to "fix it" using touch up paint etc etc? Has anyone tried this? Can anyone give me any tips or perhaps help me out in person?

Erm, my stomach must made of steel then cos I just had lunch, watched that vid and now about to enjoy a nice Crunch bar ....

Well what do you know, I got a 2005 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Twinport from Arnold Clark, hire car and it was absolute PISH!!! No power whatsoever, no feedback, rubbish driving position, crappy brake pedal feel, VERY understeery, I HATED the thing, was SOOOOOO happy to get back in the Corrado!

Just aswell those stations are so far from me, I wont be tempted to buy the fuel...

Hmmnn... :? Any idea what the BBS RC weighs in at for a comparison? They're about 17lbs on a 7.5x17 mate, which is only 2lbs heavier than the stock 15" wheel. It's definitely worth keeping weight as low as possible or the ride quality suffers, as does the turn-in and overall dynamics of the car. Any idea how heavy 16inch BBS RXs are mate? Or where I might be able to find out?

Looks wise maybe its a little OTT, but personally, I do like the whine...
-
Thanks guys, just wanted to double check before I forked out nearly £40 :)
-
Appreciated you havent had any problems, but the pipe that goes down from the BMC faces directly downwards.... ie if water splashes from a deep puddle, its possible its within reach...
-
Can anyone shed any light on as to whether it's a good idea to completely remove the lap or not? Bearing in mind I have the BMC CDA kit with the pipe going downwards...
-
But if you take it off, does it not increase chances of water getting up there in deeper puddles etc etc? GIXXERUK; Thanks for that

Ok, I think this is in the right section. The undersection tray/flap thingy-ma-bobber (on my drivers side) is broken and I need a new one. I have been given this part number and this price from the stealers; 535 805 826A at £36.50 (inc VAT) Can someone check is this is the right part number and is this price reasonable or can I get it elsewhere cheaper? Also, what is the proper name for it? Thanks folks :)

I will agree exactly, word for word with Cazza16v and Jim, I've had both and would take the BMC over the K&N any/every day.
