Sorted, thanks guys. Any more suggestions welcome.

Thanks for your reply. Which brand is that?

Anyone thought about this? Or has one fitted? I ideally want to fit one that looks as OEM as possible, not an obvious camera sticking out like a sore thumb. I've looked at mirror style dash cams but I don't know what's good and what's not. Any advice/information on this, please?

Agreed, didn't really feel it was good enough to be making a supplement magazine out of, especially considering they were 'shouting' about it being the 30th anniversary. Hey ho.
-
Did anyone find some of the "facts" incorrect? Spoiler goes up at 45mph? Cruise control? I'm sure there were others but can't remember off the top of my head now.

Thank you. Do you know about the top mounts, what do I need?

MOT new rules. We're not 40 yet! The cars I mean..
Dr Forinor replied to elliott's topic in General Car Chat
Who has ever seen a garage, with mechanics like this... ? http://cdn.images.express.co.uk/img/dynamic/24/590x/secondary/MOT-Test-1070169.jpg -
I deliberately parked on the very other end of the Asda car park earlier today, where there was at least 5 parking spaces either side of me. Come back to my car, lo and behold, someone parked in the very next space. What is the logic here?

I gotta say, my heart was pounding, and a few people questioned what the hell I was doing. But hey, if it can be done, then why not eh haha :)

First mod; Both of my previous BMWs have had the coin cubby holes beneath the light switch. This one didn't come with one, and it's almost mandatory for me, so obviously that had to be fixed. Asked BMW in Dundee and Aberdeen, both said it couldn't be retro fitted. Fine, I'll do it myself!! Sorry about the crappy pictures.

You're probably right Jim, who knows. That's why I'm happy with only a Stage 1 remap, I'd prefer reliability in the equation, too.

I bought it with the xDrive and 335d badge on it, I debadged that quick smart haha! ProjectMU HC800? Do tell me more? I was actually planning on getting Ferodo DS2500 pads? (An Alcon kit is £3k.... ) I actually don't know what the most you can out of it. Most people (from what I've seen on brief read of the BMW forums) settle for a Stage 2 remap, which isn't a whole lot more (about 20-30bhp?) than the Stage 1 that I have now. The funny thing is, the delivery is so linear & so smooth, you would never realise the real acceleration is more ferocious (for a 1700kg family estate) than your perception of it. So what's your story with the Golf? I never in a million years imagined you getting rid of the Corrado?
-
Kevin, I completely agree with you in regards to the blandness, but it's still the most exciting thing out of the current range of "sensible" estates that are available. Any "flaws" (no real flaws as such) are easily forgotten when you put the foot down though, and all the toys make up for it too. Adaptive suspension, heads up display (with the speed limit display), Harmon Kardon speakers for my finely tuned ears, parking surround view with parking assist etc etc, all good stuff and makes this a great place to be in whether it's a back road or if I've got the family drive down to wherever. It's a decent compromise let's say :)
-
Yeh I have to say my Corrado gave me less issues than my previous BMW, let's see how this one does.
-
Thanks guys. I'm really enjoying BMWs. The Corrado had sent a benchmark for me in terms of drive feel/feedback. And since then I find it "awkward" (for want of a better word) to get into a car and drive it if it lacks feel, if it's numb. BMW are still one of the few manufacturers that make drivers cars. I do feel that they are going towards the "numb" drive compared to their earlier offerings, but it's still much better than most out there. The lovely engine (as far as diesels are concerned) is just another piece of the puzzle that completes the package for me, especially after being remapped.
-
Corrado still SORN, unfortunately. But I have myself a new plaything :) This is my 335d xDrive Touring, with adaptive suspension, and the uprated M Sport Brakes (though I don't really rate them all that highly - they will be getting replaced). Already has been remapped to around 390bhp and 560lb/ft. Next plans, to get AC Schnitzer springs to properly compliment the adaptive dampers. The xDrive cars come with SE Springs, not MSport (even though it may be an MSport Trim level). Will be changing to steel braided hoses later this year also. Plans to also eventually upgrade the brakes, but then that should be it really. Hope you all are well.

These warranties, how do they work? What exactly is the warranty for? The Halfords charger, which one you get? I'm thinking this one; http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_858677_langId_-1_categoryId_255205#tab1 This Varta? http://www.battery2u.co.uk/type-067-096-varta-car-batteries-E38-silver.aspx
-
My original C-Tek 3600 died after about 18months also, but I'm sure my garage wasn't damp. Right, Halfords it is! Must be one of the very few times you would buy direct from Halfords and think it a better option....

I've heard good things about Odyssey? The reason I'm being picky for just a battery is I don't want any issues in the future. Most likely only used in summer months, parked up during winter. And even then, in summer most probably only once every 2 weeks or so. ---------- Post added at 1:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 1:36 PM ---------- Googling has revealed that the general consensus now is Optima have went down in quality recently.

I am in need of a new battery for the Rado. I'm considering an Optima battery. I know there have been a few here who have had one. Would you recommend it above the standard lead batteries? I'm not planning on having any excessive amount of speakers or amps in there so it's not for "ICE". I just want an ultra reliable heavy duty battery that will last me, "my" lifetime. Hopefully I will be taking my car to my grave ;) If an Optima battery is the way to go, which one? They are expensive, I understand that, but if it will last me the next 25 years then it's a good investment. Another thing is, I'm looking at battery conditioners. So that's why I'd like to know about the battery before I buy a trickle charger as I understand the CTEKs won't work on Optima? Is that right? CTEKs are only lead-acid battery chargers?
