  1. Considering you just had the chains apart I would hazard a guess that it wasn't put back together correctly. If it is 1/2 tooth off you will have problems, so I think it is one of those things that you have to have exactly right. I would take it back to the mechanic who did the chains, and make them time it properly. Maybe the crank pulley isn't right or there is too much slack, or who knows, but if it won't time correctly something is out mechanically. Maybe someone else can be of more help. Paul
  2. I would second the vibration damper especially since you only get it when the axles are rotating. They have been known to move or fall off. I would be a little surprised if it was the mounts with such little mileage, and you would feel it as much at idle as anytime else, but that would depend on how it was stored. Whne my mounts were going on my old Scirocco, it was at idle that it was the worst. My mounts are still ok at 150,000 miles if that is any indication. If you rev the engine and watch it move you should be able to see unwanted movement. Nice going finding a Corrado time capsule. Love to see a pic of a new/old Corrado. A car that sits for long periods though can have as many although different problems than a high mileage one. I hope it was stored adequately. Paul
  3. I fixed my driver's side heated seat this afternoon. My problem was a broken wire in the seatback part not the seat like in the wiki. Here is a link to how I did it. It was much easier than I had anticipated. Heated seatback repair
  4. Any tricks on how to do this? I am not much of an upholsterer. Paul
  5. By the sounds of it yours should work. I was staring at the wiring diagram all weekend and if you are getting voltage to the element and your element works, then I can't see any reason why your seat isn't getting hot. Have you had the nerves in your buttocks checked recently :) Paul
  6. You are getting continuity on both pins 1-2 and 3-4? Each pair has to have continuity as they are wired together unfortunately. If you have continuity, relays work and power is there, then the only thing I can think of is if the temp regulator in the seat isn't working. One thing I thought was odd when I was testing, was that when I was testing the voltages, I got 8.0V at the 5 setting and 8.8V at the 1 setting, which I thought would be the reverse, higher voltage for more heat, lower voltage for less...unless of course I was being stupid when testing which is always a possibility. Paul
  7. Thanks I did see that. I wonder if the procedure is similar for the backrest. I am not sure how to get at the backrest element without ruining the seat or the leather. It is not something I want to experiment on not really knowing what I am doing. Anyone tried this yet? Thanks, Paul
  8. I am having difficulties with my Corrado drivers backrest heating element. I tested for continuity between pins 1, 2 and 3, 4 (backrest and seat elements respectively) . The seat element seems to be fine but the backrest didn't have continuity suggesting either a bad wire or a bad temperature sensor. I could short 3, 4 together and at least get the seat warm but is there a procedure to fix this? I live in a cold climate and my passenger gets heated seats but not the driver. Thanks, Paul

    Leaking fuel

Hi All, Well I got the C back from the mechanic. He replaced the steering rack and the uber expensive ps hose (the hose was more than the rack!), the fuel filter, an A arm bushing and an outer CV boot. On the way home I was smelling gas pretty bad. Got under the car today to see the fuel line leaking, right where it enters the body, which must have happened right as I was driving home from the mechanic. Not sure if the filter replacement had anything to do with the leak though. Maybe the filter was clogged and now with more pressure it blew the hose, unless he pulled on it trying to get it off the old filter. I was surprised to discover the brake line were plastic rather than metal like they were on the scirocco. It has plastic brake and fuel lines. Is this stock? Anyone had to replace their fuel line before? It doens't look like that bad a job, but I am curious what the hoses cost. I noticed it leaks a little bit of fuel where the hoses connect to the rail too, but that might just be a clamping issue. I would be interested to know what it will cost to fix the leaky fuel if anyone has any idea. Thanks! Paul
