  1. .. to counteract the ones that piss you off. I'm going to stick with cars I've actually owned and loved, not just wish list cars, that's just silly. First car - Mini, the old one obviously. Went everywhere in that little thing, the silencer used to fall off, it choked up going through puddles, and eventually rusted away, but I loved it and would have another one in a shot, the Cooper this time. Impulse car - Opel Monza. Massive, thirsty as Oliver Reed in rehab, everyone got out of your way because it was slightly scary looking in a "Capri on steroids" kind of way. Don't know if I'd have another one but I'm glad I had that one.
  2. Move to the South West, not much snow and ice down here, so hardly any salt. You might get the odd pasty stuck between the axles, but that's about it. I drive mine all year, otherwise it's Shank's pony for me. I'd love a garage to keep it in though.
  3. The only thing I did not have in teh boot was the Corrado badge of the rear. I went digging around in nettles n ivy today. Found it. Riveted it to my toolbox. Oh well, that answers my question then - was gonna say "can I have your badges?" since mine got nicked a few days ago, but they're no good to me riveted on your toolbox! Sorry for your car though, made my stomach go in knots looking at the pics. But as everyone is sensibly saying, the main thing is you are ok, and live to drive another Corrado.
  4. I drove back to Devon from London a few months ago, left Brixton (yikes) - I love London in the morning, about 5 o'clock, over the Thames and dodging buses and crack addicts, then motorway and country roads, was really misty but still good visibility, and that was when I still had a stereo in my car. Plus I was by myself, which is always the best. I was quite sad to get home. Sometimes I think bloody hell that car costs money and I should sell it and get something small and cheap - and then I drive it, and it's never going to happen!
  5. My opinion means squat, having never driven any of the above. I'd love to drive a vr6, but I think I'd have to go for a supercharged one first, just to confirm my love of these cars. Anyway, gut instinct, on a Saturday night after a couple of beers says - Scirroco! I always look at these cars, and I would imagine it would be tremendous fun. People say for the daily drive should be reliable, economical, practical....snore snore snore. If you're gonna be in it every day, you should love it every minute of that day. My car costs a bloody fortune to commute in, but I do it because I love the drive, it makes getting to work an absolute hoot, so go for whatever puts the biggest smile on the seat of your pants!
  6. Nothing is close to Devon, nothing. So, to get the most from a track day, what should I do? My car is pretty much bog standard - should I lower it? Do I need anything else? How much is a track day? What about tyres? Do you just get to blat around, or do you get someone to come and tell you how to get the most out of the your car? Will there be people ther who will laugh at me?
  7. May be a dumb question (no change there then) - is there a Corrado racing league? I really want to do this, maybe not even racing with other cars, but maybe timed laps or similar? Has such a thing been done? I don't want to kill my car, but I do want to learn to drive it better. My local motor club has "grass roots" races, laps around a grass track, which I may enter next year, and hill climbs - don't think the C would really be made for this, but would be fun anyway - anyone done anythig similar with their cars?

    Car covers?

Should I get one for the winter? My car has to be out in all weathers, is it worth getting a cover, any recommendations?
  9. Yep, still got the wheels, a few people have asked me where I got them, I fear they may have a couple of kerb scuffs on them that weren't there before though, dunno how that could have happened! They look great though especially when I clean them up. I was so sorrowful for my car, the thought of someone taking the badges with a screwdriver, makes me so angry. Mainly because it shows no respect for the car, just ignorance. Not sure whether to replace the badges or not - what should I do with the paint scar that's left? looks sad. No, I will replace them, but for the meantime?
  10. I'm so upset. Some little scrotum has taken the "supercharged" and "G60" badges off my car. It's nekkid now, poor little thing. I hope whoever it was wakes up with a crotch full of pustulous boils. What the hell will they do with them anyway? Put them in their wank encrusted bedrooms? On a different car? It's so crap. Can I get new ones? Has anyone else had this happen?
  11. I bet a few Nova boys will take it on though. You can hear those little engines revving right now..
  12. It squeals even in gear, especially when I get in or out of it if I have to leave it on a slope, it kind of graunches - and I'm not really that much of a salad dodger! Must fix it! ps, what's a Walesy?
  13. If they are mainly cosmetic, I'll spend the squids on getting the handbrake sorted out instead then. It sounds like a really old person being poked with sticks when it has to hold the car on any sort of slope. Kind of screeching and groaning. It's embarrassing. Thanks for your input everyone!
  14. The thin bit is all coming away anyway, no need for a stanley knife! Holy crap, £65 best buy? Will it be ok to leave them then with the thin bits taken off? They won't leak and make the roof corrode? How about the sunroof seal? Wait, I hear it coming, my credit card is groaning already...
  15. Can you buy new seals? The strips that run along either side of the roof, the black rubber/plastic seals, are starting to perish, and I'd like to replace them before winter. Sorry to sound so vague but I can't think what else to call them! Also the sunroof rubber seal looks pretty sad as well - do I need a stock part for this? Thanks!
  16. I found the American guy when I was searching for info - can't find it now though! He said it went ok, got 6th out of 12 in his class, but the main prob was overheating, tried spraying the radiator and fanning it and all sorts - can't remember what he decided to do in the end. Use a different car probably! I like front wheel drive, it suits my driving, it seems more connected, less likely to spin out, plus I like the throttle/steering control on the corners with a fwd. Probably because my first car was a mini, and I learned to pull it round. A mark 2 Escort has been suggested by a couple of people now - and I've always secretly hankered after a Nova - now's my chance! (Corrado breathes a sigh of relief)
  17. It's a semi synthetic oil, and would have been a German and Swedish switch/filter. Apparently the vw Polo's had some sort of problem behind the dash, so will get that checked out, hope I can get it sorted soon, it's completely doing my head in, plus don't want to drive it far/fast in case it is an engine problem, but it's not getting hot and is running fine.
  18. So, after an oil and filter change, and one pressure switch changed over (apparently there are two?) the oil light is still coming on and flashing and beeping. Usually comes on only after the car has done a few miles and is warm - occasionally if I blip the accelerator it goes off, then comes back on. Wil get the other switch replaced, asap, but there are people saying "could be the head gasket, you know" and that sounds bad. Any ideas?
  19. Ok, so maybe that's a bit ambitious - I think I should start with this http://www.torbay-mc.co.uk/index.php?Ev ... ots_Events It says no damage and you can use any car. Plus it's for beginners.
  20. so, what you're saying is, don't rally a mini or a corrado, get a scooby? Hmmm..
  21. So, I went on a rally driving day, and loved it. Managed to spin proper 360 in the subaru impreza, what a clown! But then got the hang of it and got the fastest lap of the day - so now I want to do more, proper competition rallying. Can I rally my G60? Or is it better to go with something like a mini cooper, which would prob be the other option. But I already own my Corrado, and think it would be a blast to take cross country. What do you think? Or would I just kill it?
  22. Just wanted to say thanks for a totally easy deal, I love the wheels, they're on the car now, all I need to do is get the car lowered - next job! Also meant to say your car looked the absolute business - need to get mine a bit tidier, but the wheels are spot on, thanks!
  23. Would be lowering it I think 40mm? Do they have adjustable ride?
  24. OK, but what about tyres? PM sent.
