  1. Which one is for sale, the top one? And do they come with tyres?
  2. Thanks for the advice! :D Shock absorbers - any brand/make recommendations?
  3. Like so many things! Dinkus, I was just thinking, hmm, £600 quid, well it's quite a bit but still...and then read the "on top of a standard respray if £1,500 upwards.." Guess I'll be sticking with silver for a little while longer then!!
  4. which brings me neatly to my next question - how much, do you think? And, just looking at your sig - are Recaros comfortable?
  5. well, my car is silver, but it's got quite a few bits and spots that have been primered (by me!) and it could easily go a respray - I like the silver, but I love that iridescent paint I've seen on a few cars - does this just go over the top of the original paint? Does anyone know what I'm talking about? In an ideal world, it would be a purple tint over the silver, rather than the more copper/bronze ones I've seen.
  6. That's not what I wanted to hear!! Will get it properly checked out then on Monday - wishbone bushes sound like a sort of exotic tree... What are they and should I replace them anyway, given that the car had been standing for a good year or so before I got it, and not massively loved before that? Any other general "replace and repair" advice?
  7. About a month - probably more than 2 years, no I don't think they were bled, tyre pressures should be even, but will check! How big a job is the brake fluid changing? Time/expense wise?
  8. Am definitely agreeing with the simple look, don't want to get too lurid, though I did see a set of "hyper blue" ones that I really liked, though bank account gave me evil looks!! Cheers for the advice - all I have to do now is stop my itchy trigger ebay fingers from buying something silly! Don't want to go too low, there's always the speed bump factor to consider
  9. Cheers - no I didn't already know - please assume lowest level of technical knowledge from me at all times! 4x100, okay - 17 by 7.5, does the 7.5 refer to the tyre thickness? Is that particularly low? If I'm going to have it lowered, what do I need for this? Springs, a whole kit, flux capacitor? Apart from a mechanic, obviously! I like these! - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/17-Smiths-Kraken- ... dZViewItem Although seeing them on the car maybe they might be a bit rubbish...hmmm, not sure now!
  10. will fit on my G60? I feel that I am letting my car down now, because yesterday was followed by a mint white 'rado with black alloys on really low profile tyres - I wouldn't go for quite such low ones myself, but I want new alloys now. It's probably a stupid question, but I've not let that stop me before - what will fit? If I trawl ebay, what should specs should I look for? I'm thinking 17 inch, probably. Would black ones suit a silver car, what do you think?
  11. Only really noticed this since I had new front brake pads/discs, but it seems to not quite hold square through the steering wheel when braking now - am taking it in on Monday, but thought I'd ask here anyway. There seems to be a bit of erratic pulling, slightly from side to side on braking, just doesn't feel true on the road, sorry for the crap explanation. Not all the time either, mainly when braking hard, which I don't do that often. Any advice?
  12. The pic was taken before the immobiliser incident! I think I look serious 'cos I'm holding the camera and trying to find the shutter!
  13. So, crap day, late, ragged round the edges. Got in Corrado (pet name Gaby, as in Gaby Rado, war reporter...it's a tribute), immediately feel better. Start car. Feel even better. Drive to town, play stereo, zen. Park, blip the immobiliser, realise car is sliding downhill. I was so zen, I forgot the handbrake. Then had to lean on car, find blipper in tightest, hardest to reach pocket, and release the door, run round, jump in and put on the brake. A bloke coming out of the lift had a proper laugh. Drop the blipper under seat runner, have to fish around with a pen for ten minutes to find it. There must be an easier way!!
  14. Ok, will do that. G12+ is, erm, an additive, I'm assuming? Thanks! btw you say thermostat, housing etc - what's the etc? Anything specific?
  15. Yes. I was hoping no-one would say "it's the charger", though obviously have considered this! The car had a new charger fitted at about 100k, and now it's done 123k, (and only about 20 of those miles with me) so I really hope it's not the charger. Have been having a read of the solid vs not solid engine mounts - my only theory on the non solid one is that it wil be less forgiving, might be more stress in general? Thanks for the info on pump numbers, will get one and see if the noise is still there! :)
  16. It needs replacing apparently because there is a slight knocking/scraping noise coming from the area around the supercharger/alternator. The alternator has been taken off and checked, still the noise - two people now have said "mm, sounds like it could be the water pump", both mechanics, hence the question. The car drives no problems, though it does need a front engine mount, so not driving too hard for fear of entire engine rearing up through the bonnet...but would like to fix the slight noise. (engine mount will be fixed this week! probably with the straighforward part from German and Swedish?) Any other comments gratefully received, thanks! :)
  17. I need to replace the water pump on my J reg G60 - anyone know if any other VW pumps will fit? Or does it have to be the specific one? I'll probably be on this forum a fair bit, seeing as this is my first G60 and this is the best place around for finding out about it - please excuse any dumb questions, in advance, cheers.
