Got a complete vr lump which is apparently a 2.9 and has a couple fruity bits, was in a mk3 golf, on the obd2 coil pack type, got the whole lump, loom, gearbox, subframe, brakes etc. And a friends trying to tempt me with his broken m reg 2.0l 16v corrado for the s4, thinking I could do something usefull with it. Guess I'd need a Corrado Vr subframe, arms, hubs, possibly rear axle? Assume the mk3 vr one is no good? Main issue though is the wiring...

Changed the clocks and its the same, everything works except the speedo. We seem to be getting the signal at the back of the clocks as well. Anyone got any ideas?
-
Had a quick look, put it on axle stands and drove, the senders sending its signal, we found the wire on the block at the back of the clocks and getting the same reading there as from the sender. So really the speedo unit itself needs to be replaced?

Have a 1995 2.0l 16v, speedo doesnt work. We've changed the sender, made sure the wiring was plugged in. How common is it for a speedo unit itself to fail? The rev counter, fuel/temp guage etc works fine. Anyone got any ideas?

Yeh, my old one wernt toooo bad though. Given it a full service, and its alot happier and more responsive. Speedo though... Realised its not on an electric sender (was thinking of when I had corrado dials in my old polo, was the later ones with the digital mileage reading) So hows it work on the early ones? Is it a cable? If thats broken, why does the speedo still work?

Now I'm half putting it down to driving a G40 the last few months, and my old 16v had 195 45 15s instead of the 215 40 17s on there now. But it feels so unbelievably gutless, and hesitant! Gonna give it new plugs, leads, rotor, cap, oil n filter, air filter tomorrow, just wondering if theres anything I could do/check while I'm down there. The brakes need a bleed, clutch runs off the same fluid iirc? Would make sense as to why thats a bit iffy as well Also, the speedo works fine, but the milometer isnt going up! I'm used to old school cables. But the speed pickup obviously works, so what the milometer pickup from? Cheers

Kin hell, I should of polished that car when I had it!!! Looks damn smart, nice one Alex.

The cap will undo itself to let some pressure out when it over heats...

Specs: 30-120mm lowering range CNC Wound SAE 925 high quality springs Zinc coated against corrosion Full 2 year warranty, with full TUV approval. Ive got a set on my corrado, and I have to admit I was very suprised with the ride and general handling of them. The ride isnt too harsh or stiff, and Ive got the front of mine on near enough the lowest setting. I think alot of people who have these can/will day the same. Have a look on clubpolo for reviews. What coilovers did you crack a rim on? They must of been obsenely stiff. What other specs would you like to know? Spring ratings etc?
-
Cheers, I was debating lowering the back more, but think I'm going to leave it as is...
-
These seem pretty much the same as the Evo/Jamex etc coilovers you see about, but without the stickers. Ive put a set on my corrado, they go pretty low.... The fronts are a few mm from the bottom, the rears had loads of thread left. You can always remove the assistor if you want it properly on the floor. They ride nice and firm, but not too stiff. £230, postage is £10, and will take 2-4 days.

Got some new 45 profiles on the back, and drove to holland. Some pics of it in europe...

     Cheers. Heres another pic...
-
Cheers, tis a nice colour, I should give it a good polish really.
-
Indeed, if you find anyone with this colour breaking one, let me know!! Splitter has already taken a proper beating, I'm debating going down to the 50mm, but then the car would have to go lower..
-
Put the coilies put on the rado the other day. Only had the car a few weeks. Splitter has taken some proper abuse recently, its developed 2 cracks at either side so the middle bit will flap up if hit.  Heres how it sits on my drive... Need to get the 45 profiles on the back and lower it more, then the stance would be spot on. Ignore the funky camber for the mo.

Speed adjustable head unit? Sounds a bit fancy, what do they do? I dont think I have, but thinking about it I remember seeing the spoiler up on the way back from getting the car when it didnt have any stereo in there. When I put it in, I only put on the power, ignition and earth wires though... Wheres the speed sensor? Could that be at fault? Anyone know how much the replacements are? (silly money I'm guessing...)
-
Fair enough, cheers for that.
-
Wider eh? How much wider? Do they bolt straight on an early car? With the late bumper...
-
Cheers for clearing that up... So, I've got a Vr6 bonnet, with a late slam panel? Whats the differences in late/early wings and bumpers?
-
I was looking at other early rados, and it seems Ive got a different front end to what I should have?? I had the 3/4 bar grille already on, and a debaged 3/4 bar went straight on it. Where as Ive heard some early ones have problems with different fittings? Then looking at the bonnet, Ive got a bulge, where I look at cars like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-CORRADO-1-8-16 ... 0080473139 And notice it indents? Heres what my car looks like. Have I got a vr6 bonnet on it?? Or a late front end? Or is that just how it is?

Nice one people. Put a new expansion tank, and cap on. Now holds its water. Gonna change the coolant next.
-
How do you bleed the coolant system on a 16v engine? I keep getting coolant arseache, with the light flashin etc, top it up, and its good for a few miles, then starts again. There doesnt seem to ba ny pressure in the system. Im guessing theres a huge airlock in it, especially since Ive just been topping it up with more water. So going to try bleeding it first, then maybe do a full coolant flush.
