Already tried email - he hasn't responded. Have tried to contact also but to no avail. It's really poor that this guy has stitched us up like this. :bad-words: Yeh it is, tho I must admit that in my case we both messed about for a bit  and agreed to let it go. However if he's popped up and said he'll settle then he might has well do it :confused4: .

PM me if you want his mobile number. It's from last year, but it may still be good. Can't be arsed to make a fuss, just if he's around £30 would come in handy atm. Thanks tho. 8)

Not sure about the size for Corrados, I know that alot of people use 'Door pods', made by Audioscape (pricey). I think your prob may be more about depth? As i say not sure, door pods are pricey but worth it as you'll get a much stronger sound from decent fitment. You should find more info on the search, loads of people leave good advice on here!

Polished outers, matt centre, bling gold studs, as the last photo shows. Subtle rules. 8)

Not "poor terminology", just "utter ****". ;) ehh...it's actually more or less right!... lift coefficient = negative downforce coefficient. Car produces lift (neg df) at speed. The spolier is designed to "spoil" or reduce the lift coeff, therefore decreasing the negative downforce (lift) produced! It's the same term...just the opposite sense!....so saying the spolier increases downforce isn't actually "wrong" Ha. utter.... Ta

Bump - still not sure whether to order a mk3 one - anyone?

Oh god, not this old gem again! VW NEVER said that the spoiler increased downforce... It's a spolier, not a wing! You're right about the swirl, but it DECREASES the lift effect by around 30% by spoiling (hence the name "spoiler"!) the airflow over the rear of the car which slows the air over the top of the car reducing the lift effect caused by the shape of the car passing through air. No downforce is produced by the wing... have a look at the mounting brackets and tell me that they'd take enough force pressing down on them to make any difference when driving the car before they broke off... ;) This is exactly the same reasons the TT had to be recalled and have that nasty little spoiler bolted on... too many of them span off at high speeds due to the rear end getting light due to the lift effect... the spoiler spoilt that lift and made the rear end more stable at speed stopping costly law suits... p.s. John, not a dig at you mate, it's a topic that's cropped up quite a few times and is a common mis-conception about the effect of the spoiler which just happens to bug me... LOTS... ;) Just to stir it up a bit - surely by decreasing lift, there is a subsequent increase in downforce? Or is that just poor terminology....

Right attitude on repair, not like me... I live right by Fareham if it's the one in Hampshire, but what would I do with it then?

I'll be on to you next summer then martinb, and I will of course disclose all info.... :silent:

Deano_G60, You have a choice of whether to be naughty. By law, you should inform your insurance company of all claims, convictions, accidents or losses etc in the last 5 years. However, they mostly only keep info for 3 years, so after 3 they probably wont find out. Also, the finding out bit involves them sharing their info, which isn't as common as they'd have you believe. That means that your company insurance history is very unlikely to have been published. You should be able to find find out all info on anything you have been involved in at work, (if you do wish to tell them) as your boss or accountants should know where to get it. Please don't do it if you think it's a risk, but my company insurance history wasn't reported when I was last insured, and I didn't feel it was a risk. Also - some insurance companies will now treat company ins. as 'no claims', so if your claims were more than a year ago maybe its worth telling them anyway, for the discount. Finally - read this from my bro - http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... ht=#256417

South coast wheels have a good workshop in Southampton, they got mine straight and smooth. Tel no. easy to find, but if your waiting til it's lowered do a full workover of everything you can get to then. As far as I know, bushes shouldn't matter, unless something else is wearing them out unnaturally? My knowledge stops about here...

Yeh aint it, what a crock of poo.

I spent ages trying to get rid of this when I first had mine, all on standard drivetrain, only succeeding after a thorough check of both balancing & tracking, and as Goldie says, there are places that can balance on the car to check hubs etc too. Good luck, I never was sure what exactly sorted mine but it was worth the effort. 8)

Cheers Niges16V, that helps, also I've heard there is a sump cushion of some sort on the later - is it on the Vr6?

Have very nearly signed & sealed a 2nd hand, but word of a new one at £130ish was enuf to tempt me toward peace of mind of a new one - I have £400s worth of Konigsports to fit so would it not be silly to try and save a mere £100 on 2nd hand? Thanks for the link Louie Lungbubble, I couldn't find that, but I was on the lines of a mk3 frame fitting which would make it worth buying new? ETKA - I assume this is parts ref software? I know nothing... Ta evry1, and if anybody has fitted the later please let me know!
-
Hi, a quickie if anyone can help - need to replace lower/rear subframe on my '92 16v C (amongst other parts!), looking at £250 odd for the correct one, but heard from a chap at gsf that mk3 golf will fit and be much cheaper? He was confident, but I didn't wanna bother him by asking for part no.s or particulars, so I thought I'd bother you lot instead. As you do. Anywhere I can find good technical info & part refs to save looking daft in VW parts counter?! Not sure if or how to find this on here? Ta!
-
Dude how did you get on with this? I found this when fitting mine, gave up as I thought damage to subframe meant horseshoe gap was compressed?
-
Just perfect , cheers boys!

Hi everyone, first a big thanks to all who have helped with getting parts, you've all been sound. Now, I have to put it back together. Damage is from sliding off a l/h bend, catching tree roots along lower r/h side. Body repairs i'm ok with, got some good contacts and some experience(some..). It's running gear i'm sweating about, have bent wishbone, snapped driveshaft, bent sway bar, bent tie rod, and most unfortunately the wishbone mount on the subframe has very slight damage. Gonna have to replace all of it, main worry is removing the frame, I have done most of the other stuff on other cars so should be ok, but the frame obviously supports the engine. Bugger. Can anyone help on the best way to support the engine whilst I change it, bearing in mind that it's in a small garage, with nothing above to hang from, and as to the obvious 'use an engine crane silly', won't the legs be in the way of where i'm working? Any advice or warnings on the frame or anything else will be very much appreciated, I will be taking this on in the next month or two so I have much time to think. Thanks again, Phil.
