OK, what's wrong with Dot 5?

I have bled the slave in the past but I am going to bleed the brakes/clutch slave and replace whatever is in the resevoir with dot 5 or 5.1. I'll use my trusty piece of petrol hose with split in it and old pencil jammed in the end draped into a milk bottle to catch the waste! Thanks for your help, it is very much appreciated.
  4. Car is now booked in to have this sorted. Thanks Rob.
  5. I thought that the alarm would use the one press window motor relay to close the windows but your saying this is not the case. I will get the alarm checked out. Thanks for your help.
  6. Is this easy to change? Is it a case of replacing the relay or switch for the passenger side or more complicated? Thanks

I'll be creating a cocktail though. I will have to bleed the brakes as well then. :( Nipples snapping etc etc. Thanks

Thanks Andy/Kev. I agree, the clutch can't be worn as it bites low down. I will try replacing the clutch fluid first rather than worry about a knackered slave cylinder, any idea what clutch fluid is best? It's just 5.1 brake/clutch fluid isn't it? Come to think of it, it must be fed from the brake fluid resevoir, therefore I will need to bleed the brakes as well won't I? Apologies for all the questions.
  9. Quick question: does the passenger side electric window mechanism have a safety feature that stops the window raising with one press of the button? Or is mine broken? The reason I ask is that since owning the car the full closure alarm has never fully closed, it starts then stops closing everything nearly straight away. Thanks for your help.

I have a VR6 and would like to raise the biting point of the clutch as it is very close to the floor, any ideas? By changing the clutch fluid/bleeding the clutch, this will presumably help but if not (as I have tried bleeding the clutch before now) how do raise the biting point? It's really bugging me now :x Thanks
  11. Thanks, will do when I have some spare cash.
  12. Buttles, thanks for all your help yesterday. ABS Sensor on order from GSF (£21 + VAT), hope to fit it at the weekend. Will let you know how I get on. Thanks

    Whats this?

Not sure about the G60, but there is usually a clamp around the base of a distributor (i.e. where it enters the block). Before you take it off though, suggest you mark the dizzy against the block with tip ex (or score with a screwdriver) so you can put it back on in the same place so the timing is roughly correct (if you turn the dizzy once you loosen the clamp this will adjust the timing, suggest you only do this with a timing gun) and the car will therefore run once you have refitted everything.
  14. That's great if you don't mind buttles. Will PM.
  15. Is there anyone in the SE, Dartford or nearish, with 16 pin OBD2 VAG-COM that could help me out by running diagnostics please? The ABS light is on + want to check the ECU for any other faults as have disconnected the battery but not reset to basic settings. ECU has a Superchip, does this make any difference? Appreciate any help. Thanks.
  16. Ta. Have just done a search on the net and am not having much luck with finding out where Vibratech are located/contact details, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
  17. I'm probably being slightly dumb, what does IIRC mean?
  18. Thanks for your help. Do you have any contact details for Vibratech?
  19. Just noticed that the front engine mount on my Corrado has broke :( and thought I'd do a quick search on Wiki to see if any info. about changing it/buying a stronger mount.................... have seen the servicing guide and now do not want to take a look outside at the bonnet just in case I have an engine imprint in it!! Does anyone know where I can buy a stronger than standard front engine mount and how much please? Or are the standard ones OK? Thanks
  20. .............or the acid is leaving the battery via the breather when you throw it round corners..............
  21. It does have a supersprint chip apparently (that's what the advert said when I bought the car), would this make any difference? I guess it would.
  22. Not sure where to post this but any advice would be great.....................I disconnected the battery on my VR 2 weeks ago as it needed charging, does this mean that I have unwittingly reset my ECU?
  23. Thanks GIXXERUK. Can you buy the shims from VW? The n/s left of the car is toeing in 18', I think. I suppose I could take a punt and change the stub axle hoping that'll fix it.
  24. 4 wheel alignment? Can you actually adjust the tracking on the rear wheels? The reason I'm asking is I've just had the Corrado done and they said the rear can't be adjusted. True or false?
