So are we saying that 18" Audi TT alloys will fit ok ?
-
I am sure that I read that 19's will fit under the arch of the corrado ? According to the seller they will fit a corrado VR6 however I know you can't always trust them. I would try them on the car first however they are a good 150 miles away.

Hi, I have a Corrado (naturally) VR6. I want to replace the std speedlines with 18" Audi TT alloys which a 8J in width and a 40 profile on the tyres. I am also getting adjustable ride height suspension so i can drop the car down to a nice height on the new wheels. Question is should I be aware of anything with this combination or will the wheels fit straight on with no fouling ?? Cheers. Sean.

16v KR Engine temp wires ?? What goes where ??
swindon-corrado replied to swindon-corrado's topic in Engine Bay
Cheers for that. Now all I have to do is get the temperamental thing to start. My VR6 is easier to sort ! -
Have just done Headgasket on a 1.8 KR which the wiring to the sensors on the head above the gearbox were disconnected.. Can someone provide me with which wire goes to which sensor (the small screw in sensors) there are 3 or 4 including the oil sensor at the back. A pic would be great. (Early 1.8 KR 16v) Cheers.

I used to own RS fords. MK2 escorts etc. Couple of RS Turbo's. But the RS has become more of a Chav thing these days? And was really an eighties must have. Wish I had bought VW when I was younger rather than the Fords as the scene is way better. Now I have a Corrado there is no way on Earth I would consider an RS ever again. If it's not the power the styling is far far better and VW are the world leaders in Styling. Don't get me wrong I am not being bitchy but I know the RS scene and the VW one and am able to compare. However taste does change with age when you want finer things in life ... Hence a Corrado VR6

then keep it as it is!! Do you think ? The Radiator look is quite nice I suppose ? But it's going to be bloody dark at night !
-
Just can't decide what look to go for ?????
-
Just wind the tensioner down with the correct bolt to take some tension off the belt while the car is running. You'll soon know when it goes quiet. If it is their is a Wiki on it. Just press in another bearing. Costs around £8 and is a simple job.

What Engine to replace the VR6 ???????
swindon-corrado replied to swindon-corrado's topic in Engine Bay
So the way to go obviously is get the 2.8 24v VR6 engine. I'll need the Engine loom to marry up to my existing loom ?? ECU ? Then stick the std VR6 in the garage to rebuild at a later date when no one else has a std VR6 to show ;) What should I be paying for the 24V ?? -
So it will be just a case of removing the top part of the panel and welding my existing slam plate on to it?
-
I have just bought a 16V slam panel from ebay what is the difference from the vr6 version??

What Engine to replace the VR6 ???????
swindon-corrado replied to swindon-corrado's topic in Engine Bay
I am in agreemnent with Rpmayne on that it would probably be better to keep the original lump in it as it will be worth more in the long run.. The problem is reboring the 2.9.. I suppose the way to go is 2.8 rebored to 2.9 with new pistons etc which will cost a fortune? or 3.0 the current 2.9 engine and buy new pistons etc which will cost a fortune.. Or recon 2.9 ?? If there are any good companies out there that will do these on the shelf ?? -
What Engine to replace the VR6 ???????
swindon-corrado replied to swindon-corrado's topic in Engine Bay
What is the spec on the 24V lump? Torque/bhp/weight.. ? And what sort of a job is it to swap ?? -
My engine I'm sure is going to need rebuilding within the next year. Without any stupid comments like 'do a V8 job on it" can someone recommend the best route to take? I love the VR6 engine but that engine is such a pain in the ass with burning oil, scoring of bores, cost of maintenance/rebuild ! what I want is a nice smooth motor that is going to last me for years to come with the right servicing etc.. Is it really worth rebuilding the VR6 engine because 'it sounds nice' or is it time to think practical and swap it with an alternative VW engine that is going to deliver the same sort of grunt? Any suggestions as I am trying to estimate how much cash I am going to need to put by for this. Thanks people !
