ok i didnt manage to get to rk engineering as they seemed pretty busy but the guy i spoke to pretty much worked out it is the thermostat and told me it would be ok to take it out just to get me home. is this right? has anyone ever tried this before?

i have just driven to cornwall for a weeks holiday, after getting about 20 miles from where we are staying my vr6 started overheating!!! i managed to get it all the way by stoping everytime the water temp light started flashing which was about every 5 minutes and letting it cool for about 10 mins. after reading other posts i think it may well be the aux pump and stat that are to blame as there is no noise coming from the engine bay while the ignition is on. what would be a temp fix to get it back home bearing in mind i have to travel just under 300 miles. is there an easy option or do i have to buy the pump and stat and all the tools to do it!!! please help, i dont want to have to call out a mechanic seeing as im low on funds.

my rado wont start, ive only had it a couple of months and have had no experience with vr6's. it started off getting harder to start and now when i turn the key i just get a loud clicking machine gun noise from what sounds like the inlet manifold. i only use the car at the weekends so it spends most of its time sitting on the driveway. ive read as many posts as i can on starting issues but as you can imagen theres quite a few pages of them and none so far match my problem. please help its nearly saturday and i look forward all week to drive it!

i may just give away my black leather interior or scrap it and cover my old in burberry :scratch:

shame its much better having the window switches on the pods, think ill leave them for now. most of my cards on there now are black apart from a slight bit of grey around the handles, i may have ago at dying the grey black.

its just i have all leather interior apart from the doorcards, it would be nice to have it all matching. i'll just have to trial fit one and see what im up against. i could always cover up the holes with big wolfsburg badges :norty:

hi ive been offered some early leather door cards for my late style vr6, i know the window and mirror switches are in different places so will i be able to fit them using my late switches. can the late speaker pods with the window switches be fitted to the early card

yeah looks real nice and its not to far from me but its red! how annoying i just dont like red cars, i think red and white are the only standard colours i dont want. ive seen a green one that looks nice but its done 127k its got koni suspension so thats cool. at 127k what kinda life has the engine still got before it needs a fair bit of work?

thanks for the replys, reall got me confused now. well im not going to buy it as i really have my doubts about the owner, hes only got the car to make a quick sale and im looking for a corrado thats been show some love. does anyone know of a nice vr6 with around 100k for about £5000ish. i really dont want to rush into any old thing but im getting desperate to buy soon. please help me!!!

thanks for the quick reply, i know what you mean but i have a mk1 golf gti at the mo that is 26 years old, its only had 6 owners including me! i suppose if i keep it for over 5 years it will even out a little better.

ive just been to see a 94 vr6 which has had 9 owners. the car looks lovely, its had a lower milage engine put in with proof, all electrics work ok. i cant really see any problems with it apart from the 9 owners! and the guy selling it owns his own garage. would this put alot of you off buying it? im planinng on keeping it for a while as a kind of project so i dont want one that gives me too much trouble.
