  1. i cured mine , i got rid of the car
  2. yep ive put on a new boot as i thought that was the original problem , old one was splitting slightly , vw told around £500if they could get one !!! , when the engine is running with the formentioned sensor plugged in then it wont idle and struggles to start but if you put the allen key in to the mixture adjustment pot and tilt it back slightly then the car seems to run ok so the only way to get it to run is with this sensor unplugged but then it still runs rough , what a bugger :)
  3. it has a major air leak from the metering unit if you spray carb cleaner around the top of the metering unit it draws in and the reves go up until its burned off the carb cleaner , ive had the metering unit appart and replaced the cork gasket but it made no difference so i had a local company who specialise in repairing head units look at it and they say its ether gone porus or it has a hairline crack in it , hence the increase in reves . they also said that its not repairable and a recon one is very expensive , but he wouldnt quote a price . ive checked the c/o content and i can get it to run at 0.5 % to 1.0 % fine but when you drive it after a while it will cut out and wont start for a couple of hours , i think its got something to do with the sensor on the right hand side of the metering unit but im not sure what this sensor is for , ive disconnected it and the car seems to run good but im not happy about using it like this as ive broken down in some pritty dodgy spots on country roads anyone got any more ideas :D
  4. anyone any ideas ????????????????
  5. hi guys some of you know my cars been off the road for some time now as i need a new metering unit which seems very hard to locate a secondhand one or even a new onw , what i am now wondering has anyone changed from motronic to a earlier jetronic system and whats involved , what bits would i need to chage over and how easy is it to do , im only thinking of this as the early system seems easier to get hold of . any ideas please , cheers guys :)
  6. you dont need to justify buying brembos buddy , if you do a good job of the nursery then im sure buying the brembos will meet everyones approval 8) 8) 8) :D

  11. Rob Heath if you could mate that would be great , if its a Type G KE Motronic system then it will fit , part no on the unit should be 04 38 101 039 and theres 2 sensors on the sides of the unit , thanks buddy heres to hoping :)
