Aye keeping my eye out for a Bora next... just a nicer look than a mk4 goof... Jim, just slammed wheels and arches I bet they said that about Jay's/Sukh's ones too!
-
Swompy, sticker in the boot or if you have it (guessing you do) on the inside cover of the service manual.
-
Leigh, have PM'd you my number and also copied you in about a very good low miles KR locally (OK Kent) to you...
-
Wow! Nice! Pearl ghey or Icey-Ghey-Violet? Only thing I'd say id get a blue coolant cap on there...Black ones can fail... then have fun!
-
OK so if it came with a 195/50/15 tyre then the speedo's set for a 195/50/15... so you'll be fine! The difference isn't much TBH... I was running 17's with 205/40/17's and speedo read 40 and speed was 38 (according to roadside radar)... so don't stress... Stay with what you have bought they are correct for the car, and won't make a difference if on a 6 or 7" wheel..
-
He's talking boolox mate... probably wanted you to buy some off him instead... 195 are correct for a G60/16v... so your speedo will be spot on. He must be doing well not to want your money, plenty of other fitters will do it! Go find another tyre fitter... My local Kwick-fit even fitted a set of 195's to my 7" wide Porsches so there's no issues with width... Yes a 7" should "Technically" have a 205/215 tyre on it but that's rubbish a 195 sits fine with almost no stretch! See my Gallery for the Porkers and the Compo's they both have 195 tyres, my LM's which were 7.5's had 205's again no stretch!

Whoop Whoop! "Stalker alert" Good to see the progress here..

Decision made.. and it's (to quote Kylie) "Better the devil you know" Realistically as I still have the money for the paint from the guy who hit me in Greenwich that will just about cover the bill and Paint can be done some other time! And YES I know it's a "DIY" job, but getting the garage to do it as I don't have time ATM, need it back before end of week before we go away... But another one lives again! And will ask the Garage to drop my KR cams in it wheilst the head's off as well  -
Leigh, two in a week and only 20 miles apart! :( If you want I can come over when mine's done and I'm back from holiday, give you a hand? I'd have done mine myself but I don't have time and as it's my only car... As Yan said bits are cheap it's just the time if you are paying.... or would your mechanic mate help you out at a discounted rate?

Looking at it the ABF is "Almost" a bolt in job... and will run with the KE-Jet... but finding a good one is proving difficult... Lack of 16v mk3 Golfs being broken ATM... what else used ABF? -

Well the news isn't good for the old girl... Looks like the head did suffer and the quote came in today... at £700! So there's a serious decision to make, do I keep on or cut my loses and get something else? Am seriously Gutted ATM... Don't have the cash as we're off to Vietnam in a week couldn't have come at a worse time... Think I'll have to look at new engine, or for a good 9a head... unsure if a KR on will fit? Never did get a definative answer on that... -
£100 deposit or your drivers Licence... so there will be a check-list of similar they'll use... and can't see their "basic" tools being that much, socket and spanner set maybe??
-
Needs a machine polish..., Now get 1/2 that dash cut out too!
-
Right up till the first Numpty does something wrong, liek forget to put new pads in, and then the following lawsuit shuts them down... I like it, much like I liked the idea of starting a Petrol-head's Property Developer... 2/3 bed flat over a 4/6 car garage...
-
Had a T4 ... felt liek a right Pikey going to Tesco's in that! (and it was brand new!)... handy for trips over the channel though!
-
Get a flattened cardboard box under it... that'll tell you!
-
Gav, if you have Passat Handle, do you also have Passat mechanism too? Might be worth getting a Rado handle and Mech, swap them out and see if that works?
-
Right so back on track... "Big, comfotable, toys, bullet-proof, would prefer 4-door and estate, hence the Aero-deck..." So Civics and Integras out the window... What else falls in this catorgory... apart from Saabs and Volvos... :gag:

 Thanks Tom. Cheered me right up! I know I am being a bit of a "Queen" but with leaving to Vietnam next weekend, having things booked in this weekend, and having to get the cats to their cattery on Friday too, I didn't need this! :( On further conversation with John at Nirro, it looks like it's nicked the gasket between 2/3... it is pressurizing the coolant system, but no oil/water mixing, so he's pretty confident it's just the gasket... So hopefully I'll have it back tomorrow... and If i can get them over there, with KR cams installed too! Fingers crossed! -

Problem is I don't have another car, so can't get stuff to engineering firms to get done... Plus I work from 7.30-6 weekdays... -

Break it?? Don't be a fanny, a head gasket change can be done in a day, and will cost you chuff all......much cheaper than sticking an ABF in it! Stu, at £45/hr garage rates, plus re-machining head would be pretty expensive... I just don't have time to work on it now, and I'm away on holiday end of next week, so money's not there either... :pale: Need to have a longer conversation with Garage at lunch and see what the damage is... -

Nope. Garage have confirmed head Gasket's gone... So it's either Break it or ABF it... :(
