  1. Many thanks for this advice. Particularly with regard to the cost of replacing the whole system rather than just the back box. Quotes for the back box alone range from £140 (Kwik fit) to £270 (VW Main dealer). Appreciated
  2. Was wanting some advice with regard to having a new rear box fitted to my 1.8 16V Corrado (it doesn't have a cat). Was considering a stainless steel unit and wanted to know what I should consider paying and if anyone had any good experiences/recommendations in the York area. Any thoughts appreciated.

    Front Brakes

Wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I was looking at my front brakes (potential wheel bearing problem), checking the pads for wear etc, and found that with the wheel off the drivers side disc was able to rotate independantly from the hub (only noticed when I couldn't get the wheel bolts back through the disc/hub as they were not aligned) On closer inspection a pin locating the disc and hub together seems to have sheared. Would anyone happen to know the part number of the pin and how easy it is to get out? Thanks in advance
  5. Many thanks for the advice. Will take out tomoorow and check re: side.
  6. I think I have a problem with a wheel bearing (not sure if front or rear). Would anyone be able to: a) give my guidance on diagnosing if the wheel bearings are causing the problem; b) offer a link to a post of the forum/elsewhere on the www where changing the bearings are described. Thanks in advance
  7. Many thanks for the advice. Appreciated. Will let you know how it goes.
  8. Bally Thanks for that. When the car has been stored overnight in the garage it's starting up fine. Would this still suggest a problem with the ignition switch?
  9. I have a 1990 Corrado, 1.8, 16V and am having trouble starting when the car has been out in hot weather. The car has a Clifford immobiliser fitted but I don't think the issue is electrical as all dashboard lights come on but there's no response at all from the engine. Does anyone have any advice they can offer. Thanks David
  10. Passed a white Corrado on the bridge on the Thorne - Snaith Road in East/North Yorkshire. Didn't see any numberplate etc because we were both going so fast, waving and flashing lights.
  11. Dark blue/green Rado leaving Asda shopping area at Killingbeck, Leeds this evening, 5.30pm, 25th Jan. Saw you at the traffic lights. Key features as I remember - large exhaust, well bigger than the one on mine! I was in the works Touran!
  12. Many thanks. Appreciated. Hope you don't mind me asking another question. Have been having problems with battery/starting for a while (if car isn't used regularly). Anyway this morning went to car and found that battery appeared dead. Have connected to another car via leads and initially electrics look OK, clock/lights come on etc but after I try to turn over once, I hear a click from the engine bay and then the electrics drop despite jump leads still being connected. I friend tells me it could be the starting solenoid. Have you experienced this problem before? I have the Robert Bentley manual on CD if there is any help on there it could be useful. Many thanks in advance
  13. Dear All I'm a new member on the site, though have owned my Corrado for almost 6 months now. Have a '89 1.8 in Nugget yellow. Always wanted the car but until recently hadn't the time or money to justify buying one. My problem is that the passenger door window frame plastic is lumpy/bubbled. I suspect that the metal beneath is rusty. Any advice? Many thanks
