  1. Hey Casual, nice one for the info, is helpful, but one thing i didn't understand; there was a mentioning of an additional charge for the timing belt part, I am aware the VR is chain driven, so the belt change part wouldn't be applicable.
  2. I'll give that a look over, thanks guys, if theres anything else i need to know plz do enlighten me. Thanks
  3. VR has just hit over 60kmiles, can anyone plz tell me what the 60K mile service entails, apart from the obvious oil and filter change, which has already been carried out. I have read that the serpentine belt should be replaced, is this the main drive belt for the alternator? Thanks
  4. I have looked through my service history book and noticed the first service was carried out at 6,970 miles, 9 months later one at just below 14,000 miles and another 6 months later at just under 20K miles. Don't VAG recommend servicing be carried out at 10K miles or annually whichever comes first..? How come my VR was serviced sooner..? Any of you guys had similar servicing carried out to your VRs??.. cheers
  5. when i get time will give it a go..and let u know if all is soted...cheers matey
  6. when u mean o2 sensor is this the co2 one; cat sensor?
  7. Hi guys, I recently had a mate of mine who plugged his VW diagnostic fault finding tool in, just to run a general check. The problem i have on the car is the abs light has recently come on. The above error codes came up which read as follows: 00561 - mixture adjustment control 00513 - Engine speed sensor GT28 - Idle rev too low/high or signal malnufunction. I spoke to another friend of mine who said generally the VW diagnostic readouts etc. are unreliable. Can anyone shed any light to the matter and if the read out is true, where these parts are located..? Are these common probs on VRs???
  8. I had a little race in my late VR Rado with a mate of mine who has a 'Type R' although i had 2 passengers, he did me!!..took off in 2nd and was drifting off even more in 3rd gear, so his 3rd gear appeared stronger too!!..It P'd me right off as i didn't expect to beat him, but thought we would be side by side... Basically his motor has covered 32K and mine 62K miles, so i can't really say my VR hasn't run in..I haven't changed the plugs since owning her, so was thinking that might have something to do with the performance of her..? Now over to you guys, what do you think..?

  12. I have just been looking around and noticed you can get a Jamex Coilover kit for around £260 inc. P&P..or another german manufactured brand with the TUV approval for approx. £230.. But as we know Coilover kits normally start at £400plus..does this mean the Jamex kit is not that good?..

    Brakes...

Thought i just share the driving experience i had this weekend gone.. wanted to open my VR a bit on the motorway and ended up was it err..undertaking a merc. who wouldn't budge out of my way..i then see all these cars almost stopping ahead for a speed camera (thought it was an traffic at first)..bloody idiots were well below the speed limit as it was!!..So i kinda slammed my brakes on (not right down) and my back end of my rado started to swing out slightly..as though i was driving a rear wheel drive car in the rain..i applied brakes three times and it was slightly swinging out each of the times..I thought i was gonna loose it for a mo. but didn't...pheww.. I think i have uneven pressure to the rear calipers..so better get this checked out now.. Anyone else had this experience b4..?
  14. Thanks guys for your advice.. will be looking at changing the set up...So the PI springs are good combi with Koni shocks?..
  15. Hi, anyone who can gimme some sound advice?.. I have been reading comments etc. and the gist of what i have read is that if you lower your car by 40mm that shouldn't have a great affect on your ride quality.. I know from my experience; had Mk1 & Mk2 golfs if i dropped them by 60mm then you would more or less feel every bump on the road. Now i have recently dropped my Rado VR by 40mm (used Ventura TUV approved) springs (state a 40mm drop), but it really feels as though i dropped it excessively; is not comfortable at all to drive!!..i tried to bounce the suspension by hand at the front, but it doesn't budge... The drop looks perfect (not excessive) with the wheels but literally feel every bump on the road and this shouldn't happen with just a 40mm drop?? has anyone else experienced this?? Help would be appreciated!!
