Yes mate, I'll happily post some pics. I did a lot of adapting to get it to fit cos I wasn't really using the right parts. I've got a late style 2L 16v with bar hangers. The Supersprint pipes are for the early type Corrado with hook hangers (they don't do them for later ones), so I had to adapt the central bushes to fit onto the bar! Also I ended up putting on a VR6 back box as that was all I could find cheaply (Thanks Steve)! So that didn't fit directly either so I had to cut it a bit and force it on then tape it up. Its all nice and tidy now though. The pipes sit nicely in the hollowed out bit and the back box hangs just right. I'm very happy with it, just a bit too loud for me. TBH Twiss with your early Corrado it should be really easy as the hangers won't need any adapting. I'll get some pics up over the weekend.

Yeah that was my second option. Trouble is the pipe I've replaced the suitcase with is longer so I wouldn't be able to just put the suitcase back on. I'd either have to put the torpedo on as well or cut a few inches of extra pipe and put that in front of the suitcase to make it reach. Or I could just leave it as it is and hope it quietens down after a while. But thats prob a bit unlikely

I'm having trouble with my drivers side front wheel. It often makes a horrible screeching noise. I don't think its the bearing, there is no play in the wheel and its not a crunching sort of noise. I've started thinking it could be the brake calliper seizing. It doesn't make the noise all the time, but when its doing it if I lightly touch the brakes it stops. Could the calliper be pushing on the disk making this noise? Is there any way of checking without buying new callipers? Anything else? I've done loads of searches but thats confused me more, ball joints, CV joints... Another wierd thing is that it only seems to do it when the wheel is turned left. If you turn the wheel right then it stops :?

Does anyone know if the VW front exhaust box does much to quieten the exhaust noise? I've just fitted a straight thru pipe instead of the front and center sections and its a bit too loud for me. I don't want to put the heavy suitcase back on as the car seems noticeably quicker without it. I was thinking of putting a new VW front box on and keeping the pipe instead of the suitcase. Do you reckon this will quieten it down much or not really?

I've just fitted a supersprint straight through pipe (replaces the front and centre box with just 2 pipes) going straight into a VW backbox. I was short on cash and this was the cheapest option  The SS pipes were £90. All I can say is its LOUD. Bit too loud for me round town, its silent below 1500 rpm, then really loud from 1500 to 3500, then it quitens down again above that. Can't complain for the price tho. Guess I'm one of the  now!!

So what are the best spark plugs to use in 9a engine 2L 16v? I've heard that NGK are bad, bosch are better, what about champion? I did a search and found that W5DPO or W6DPO are the best for the G60. Would these be good for a valver? I want to make sure I get some decent ones but most places seem to stock NGK which I've heard don't last long.

I've also heard that you can use a front arch to replace a rear one. Don't quote me on it but I think someone on here said you need to turn the front arch around so it goes on the rear backwards. I'd find out for sure first though! and as Phil K says the new and late shape front arches are different so not sure which one you'd want either.

1.8 16v Golf/Corrado exhaust can be fitted to a 2.0 16v
corradostuff replied to quicky1980's topic in Exterior
I was just wondering about this Golf exhaust on a Corrado issue as Golf ones are so much cheaper. Has anyone else tried this out? I'm thinking about the back box mainly but I've got the bar type hangers so would it be easy to change the fixings on the car itself to the older type and would this fit the Golf box or does it need more adapting than that? -
Cool, I'll wait to hear from you then before I order some. I've got my ISV (from the other thread) to take off and clean this weekend so the HT leads have to wait anyway. Thanks for your advice.
-
Yes that's really helpful about the speedo senser, thanks for telling us. I'd much rather try that than fork out £200 for a new ISV. I've got a few things to check out now so I'm really chuffed. Hopefully can sort this one out fairly easily :)
-
Kerrinmay, did you say you bought those Beru HT leads? And have you managed to gt this clip thing on them successfully? I need some new HT leads and these look to be the best priced ones around. I'd appreciate if you could let us know if the clip goes on ok, and whether you think the leads are any good or not. Cheers

Thanks for your help evryone. I've found it now. Will get some carb cleaner this afternoon and have a go at cleaning it over the weekend. I'll let you know how I get on. Easypops, if you do a search for ISV there is another thread where somones ISV was stuck. I can't remember what they said but somthing about opening the ISV with a screwdriver. Might be worth looking into that, just click on seach above and type in ISV. Apparently they cost £200 for a new ISV  so hopefully you can fix it. Hope I can fix mine too :?
-
Thanks BLACKG60. I've had a good look this afternoon. There were 2 pipes which were really loose and coming away so I've pushed them back on tightly. Hopefully that will help. I also spotted one of the HT leads is split at the distributer end, do you think that could be part of the problem? I'm still trying to find this ISV as I want to clean it to be sure. But I can't find anything like you described. Mine is a 9a 2L 16v which might be different from a G60? Any ideas? I'm guessing its tucked away inside or under something else. I've attached a photo of my engine bay if that helps? Thanks a lot.

Thanks for the advice guys. Now its time for me to embarrass myself  Where is the ISV? I've decided I need to take it off and clean it, there's no way I can afford £200 for a new ISV (that would mean the end of me and my C :( ) I've searched loads and am hopeful that cleaning the ISV might do it, but I can't find anywhere detailing how to remove it etc. I'm new to engines and stuff cos I didn't care before my Corrado! Basically where is it and what bits do I need to take off to get at it? And what does it look like? Also have you got any advice about checking for leaks in the vacuum pipes? I'll look and see if I can spot any by looking but is there any tips on how to find small leaks that you might not see by eye? Sorry for being so dumb but like I say I'm new to this but I'm really enjoying getting my car fixed up in different ways and am learning as I go along. Just want to get the basic running sorted now so I can move onto more interesting mods! Cheers

I got my valver back from the bodyshop today, it's had a nasty dent repaired. I was really chuffed until I went to start it. It turns over fine but doesn't idle properly. It goes to about 1000rpm when you turn it on, but then the idle just drops off to nothing and the engine cuts out. After a while of pressing the accelerator to keep the revs up it stayed up like normal. So I drove it a bit but before long when I was braking (therefore not on the gas) the revs just dropped well below 1000rpm again and it cut out. I've done some searches, could this be the idle stabiliser valve? Or does it sound more like something else? I'm not very good with the engines so any help would be appreciated. I'm gutted to have yet another problem :( I'm just hoping its not too bad cos I can't keep up with all that neds doing!!
-
I don't see how a bearing can be £56. I got a rear one recently and it wasn't anything like that much. Again it wasn't genuine VW though. Does anyone know if its true about bearings needing to be VW? I'm concerned now that mine ain't good enough. Sorry to say the garage will prob cost quite a lot too as they have to take the disc off and press it in like you say (don't know any more than that I'm afraid) Not being much help at all really am I.

Will a MK3 Golf VR6 Milltek S/S zaust fit a Corrado VR6?
corradostuff replied to Claret Badger's topic in Engine Bay
I was looking at that too as I need a new cat back exhaust for my valver!! There was a thread on here last week where they were talking about putting a MK2 Golf exhaust on a Corrado. Apparently one chap said they fit perfectly, you just need to adapt the hangers a bit. I think DavidWort was in on the discussion so you could try asking him or do a search. That was a MK2 tho not a MK3 so don't have a clue about this one! I decided against it in the end. If you look at the photo it looks like there's a big dent in the pipe leading into the backbox. Can't trust ebay! I bet its been on that golf more than 5 months as well  -
I've been thinking about removing the rubbing strips on my Corrado. It's flash red and I think it would look better without them. I'd like to hear from anyone who's already done this. Do you recommend it? or wish you'd left them on? I'm worried I'll get a trolley dent after taking them off and will live to regret it! Also how easy is it to take them off? It looks like they are just stuck on with sticky stuff. Do you just ease them off gently or is there a better way or a product to use? Also am I likely to lose any paint when I take them off? I don't want to do it if I'll need a re-spray after!!

My Inpros don't leak and they line up ok. As Colinstubbs says, put some silicone in the gaps and you won't get any water coming in. The Inpros have a proper Euro kitemark on them which the FKs don't and the Inpros come with bulbs already fitted. I'm happy with mine. At the end of the day its personal preference, they both look a bit different. I've heard of problems with both types so think it comes down to luck more than make.

Yeah that sounds about right. It could well be the engine moving about and that is whats making it feel like the car is rocking on the gear change. I'll see if I can have a look at the engine and gear box mounts on the weekend. How would I tell if they need replacing? I mean if its not obvious that they are damaged, how should they look/feel? BTW I like the red lights on your red C Andy T. I went for the red clear option with mine but I'm still not sure if they look right, bit too flashy/chavy!
-
When I change gear (any gear up or down) the car kind of rocks back and forward at the biting point. It's not really bad but it is noticeable every time and annoying. I've done some searches on the Forum, does this sound like the gearbox mounts? That was my best guess but I might be way off. Any ideas? And if it is gearbox mounts how hard are they to replace? Does the whole gearbox need to be removed to do it? cos that is worrying me a bit!

Lovely... thanks for the advice everyone. My car is Dec 92 and I was looking at getting a wing in the right colour but from a 91 car. Now I'll hang on to find a later model as I want it right on both sides 8) Cheers for the removal tips too, will come in very handy :D
-
Does anyone know if the wings are different for the new and old model Corrados, or are they the same design and fitting? I need to replace my driver's side wing but don't want to get one that won't fit! Also is this an easy job (or are they welded in place?)
-
Ahhh now I get it  Well that's good, I didn't want to lose anything, thanks for clearing up for me. I'll fit it on the weekend, I've had enough of only seeing 6ft in front after dark!
-
Nice one. BTW your C sounds like mine, I've got a red 2.0 16v. Can't beat the red in my opinion. Have you done the KR inlet cam yet? that's next on my list.
