Cool Thanx! I just ordered this kit, 10 upgraded head bolts to handle the port and polish, and I am gonna use the new cam belt and tensioner I had put on 2 days ago on the new head :D
-
lottysvdub, Sorry to say this, but the noise came back and it wasn't the power stearing pump...it was a bent/damaged valve...I am replacing the head next weekend :( but then I am rebuilding the old one with a nice port and polish...bigger valves, w/e it needs to be a screamer! :D that is unless its beyond f'd

I am getting my new head in (57k) next week and I know I'm going to need a new head gasket and new intake manifold gasket and new head gasket bolts...but what else do I need? Do I need to get a new gasket(s) for where the super charger bolts on the the block? Do I have to remove the super charger to get the new head on? What else should I do/clean up/replace while I have the old head off this weekend? any advice would be greatly appreciated 8)

1 Cylinder not getting combustion/compression!
BlackHeartValentine replied to BlackHeartValentine's topic in Engine Bay
The car was running great untill yesterday when the timing slipped...could the block be cracked? or cracked cylendar? I have an oil leak and I changed the oil pan gasket thinking that was it but its not...there was oil in the air filter and intercooler also...I was going to remove the charger this weekend and send it off to KK in Canada for a rebuild...but I have the timing replaced and it runs like crap but Im gonna get it home then tear the head off...New head should be here next week. Is there anything I need to do to the new head before putting it on?? Any comments are greatly appreciated!! -

wow, well I just bought a new head (57k on it) it comes with the intake manifold also (so I can port & polish either that on or mine in the future) I found it for $395!! The guy owns a shop and said he pulled it off because he swapped to a 16v head bout a year ago and he had the 8v just chilling in his shop....Could this new head be damaged from just sitting?? -
my timing belt slipped yesterday and now they are saying that only 3 of my cylendars are getting compression!! My question is do you think it would be easier/cost efficient to get a new head or rebuild my old head (new valve stems , etc.)??
-
Yeah, I found a used one here for $65.00 but new they are $167.50 here passenger side and the driver side is $111.50?? It made no sense to me why the drives side is less...And a shop up the street from m esaid they will put it in for $60 so thats not bad Except for the fact that my timing belt slipped yesterday and now they are saying that only 3 of my cylendars are getting compression!! new head time.

mine did the same thing today, A little yellow plastic thing has broke that holds the cable about an inch from the top so when it pulls it doesnt work right, the window will go down but not up!! cant get my hand in there to remove and fix yellow thing so must got to shop....
-
okay, well, its not the cat or the heat sheild making the noise...nor is it the altenator bolts (they were loose though) the power steering pump bolt was also loose, so I pulled it down and tightened it up and no more noise!
-
I just had my #4 lead break off and I am putting new plugs on in a minute here but thought this would be helpful to others because I couldn't find it anywhere on here.
-
Does anyone know where a how to is about removing the cat??
-
well when the car is sitting (out of gear) ha, and I rev it you can't here it...It only starts when the car starts moving. ???
-
Okay, So I have been thinking that I had an exhaust leak due to some jumpyness of power and loss there of...the guy I bought the car from said he unplugged the O2 sensor cause it was runnin harsh, so I got down and checked it out and it was still there and plugged in, so I scratched meh head, Then, last night I was driving it on the highway and I herd of this way to burn off some junk from your exhaust by redlining it in 2nd & then in 3rd for a few seconds...so i was trying this out but never got to redline but just before I got to redline the power jumped up and started bouncing so I switched gears...then when I get close to my house I hear this like rattle coming from underneath...It's like if the car is in 2nd going 15 mph and I bearly push the gas down I can hear this rattle (marbles in a bag kind of rattle or crickets/frogs at night rattle)...then Today the sound is louder! What is this? Is it the Catalytic Converter? How do I remove the Cat if thats the prob? Halp!!

MFA Boost Check Says 9434 at Idle?
BlackHeartValentine replied to BlackHeartValentine's topic in Interior
Okay, I pushed the end button once after letting go and walla! it said 35 and fluctuated when I rev'd it up...I took it on the highway and massed the gas then the reading jumped to 171 and wouldn't go higher than that. My MPG says 99.9 (way off) So I guess my new question is does 171 mean I have a Boost Leak?? (Also, the engine sounds like its missing or the timing is retarded...I put a timiing light on it and if you are standing on the passenger side looking down at the belt, the mark would be to the left of straight up, pretty much pointing at the firewall or where the glovebox is on the inside) -
I did the correct proceedure of the MFA 2 hold switch off then on then release the end button...the MFA then said 9434. What does that mean? I drove it while reading it and it didn't fluctuate...I did it again the other day got the same number but it did fluctuate. I guess my question is "Is 9434 Bad or Good?"

Weird...diffarent boot floor shapes? and 1/2 grab handles?
BlackHeartValentine replied to Riley's topic in Interior
That's Wierd, I have a 1990 Corrado and I have One Handle up top passenger side, I have Heated Seats, and a 15 Gallon Tank.... -
Are Corrados Able To Run On E85?? E85 is 109 octane fuel produced through Alcohol 60% of cars are already equipped to run on that, but I was wondering cause gas is soooo expensive and E85 is more efficent in everyway, burns cooler, way less carbon build up, etc...and the kicker, You Can Make It Yourself! So, all I wanted to really know is Are Corrados Able To Run On E85??

Help! Raddo dies few seconds after starting!
BlackHeartValentine replied to BlackHeartValentine's topic in Engine Bay
I had to rig it cause VW said all they can provide is the plug/switch case, I would have to get a pin puller and pull the two pins out of itand redo those, so I just got 3mm female clips and gutted the switch then reassembled it! Nice and New now. Thanx for all the help! :D -
Yeah, that's where mine sits, smack dab in the middle inbetween 160 and 230 on the middle marker...funny thing is, the sound only comes on if I turn on my rear defrost button! It never comes on otherwise...phantom buzzer!!
