  1. My headlight switch on me 94L 2L 16v has snapped. It always got hot due to the internal light within the switch heating the unit up, this has caused it to crack. Its the one with the internal illumination resistor next to it. I have managed to keep the lights working by flicking the switch to permanently on and then just unplugging the unit when I want the lights off. I am driving around the French and Swiss Alps in my Corrado in a few weeks and I am desperate to get a new one but the bloody stealers want £55. I live in Essex, does anyone know of a part Co that I may be able to get the part from ? Cheers

    Magnex exhaust

Cheers for the advice Lads, appreciated. The only reason is was looking at Magnex is that there is a local supplier so I do not have to pay delivery and if it aint right I can pay em a friendly visit. And the guarantee is good. I intend to fit it myself.
  3. I am needing to get a new exhaust (CAT back) for my 2.0L 16v 1994. I have looked at several brands/types and the Magnex stainless system seems the best. It costs £330 and I do not need to chop any of the rear valance to fit it. It also has a lifetime waranty. Does any one know or have this system on their motor and if so what are your opinions. (my existing system is a "Simons" branded exhaust (which maybe a Jetex ?) and has caused me a bloody nightmare with the back box snapping as well as the system knocking against the rear suspension which cannot be prevented. I have tried everything) Any comments on the Magnex would be appreciated, cheers
  4. Does anyone know of a VW motor factors in Essex near to Southend. I am after an exhaust system (as me old Jetex one is holy and is soon to fail its MOT) and general servicing parts. The German Car Company used to sell from the Airport but they don't no more. While I'm on here does anyone have any tips for decent CAT back (VW std from manifold to CAT) exhaust system. I ain't to bothered by Stainless Steel as they fatigue crack to easily. Cheers
  5. Stevemac, Mine is a 2L and chipable. What do you reckon is a bit more torque, another 10% or more ? I think my cars spec is about 130Nm torque
  6. I'm sceptical about chipping. Do they make that much difference ? especially as I have an unmodded 16V, except for the exhaust and I'm sure if that that has not given me extra power (although it does give a constant knocking noise that I can't fix) I would pay £150-£200 for a reasonable gain. Prefer torque to hp.
  7. If you go to Germany there are loads more than here in Blighty. Kinda obvious I guess
  8. I have a wire coat hanger bent into place in my tool box. It works well. Beware not to over tighen it and check again after a good run. To check the tension I twist the belt a 1/4 turn at its longest length before it is fully tensioned.
  9. Cheers lads, bid gone in
  10. OK I now expect the abuse ! bring it on. I need to put one on me C. No choice I'm afaid unless I get rid of it, and theres no chance of that. Does anyone know how and where I can get the part (the bar). I also need to do the electrics for the lights ? The fuel tank is right at the back and could make it difficult to install one. I have checked out the search facility and surprise surprise no such post. ps its not for a Caravan
  11. Freefire, The 2L 16V has many of the same parts as a MkII golf GTI. I have one of these Haynes manuals and it seems to cover all the aspects of working on me Corrado. The rest I just make up and I seem to get by. I say this because although I am fairly OK working on motors I am certainly not an expert. Check out the manual, I think they are only about a tenner. It covers complete PS rack removal servicing etc. When I changed the Cam belt the hardest part was replacing the power steering belt (which is part of the process). They are under so much tension its worrying. Has this been checked ? Good luck as I know how hard the steering is without PS. Please keep us posted on progress. Stick with it as I find the the 2L 16v very reliable with good regular servicing.

    Steering wheel

I hate the stock corrado wheels (94 2l 16v). One of my only mods was to install a Sparco 3 spoke. Its about 320mm dia and a slightly flat botton with a wide dia grip. It does stop you seeing the speedo but you have to do a ton for that. No way I'm fitting the std on it again. It improves the drive over the std for sure. Much more responsive and parking no sweat at all. ps. not safe though. A crash and me head smacks the metal spokes. Not to bright after all I guess.
  13. I stored mine in a farm on a remote island off Essex mud flats last winter whilst I went boarding for five months. Well exposed and on damp grass/mud. It was due for a service so I left it till I got back. I did not do anything except for 1. Wax the body 2. Anti-freeze 3. Screen wash 4. Remove battery (to charge it when I returned) If you do not raise the car expect tyre flat spots and DO NOT use a cover. When I got back, guess what, put in the recharged battery, turned the key and no lie one turn of the key and she came back to life. I could not believe it.
  14. I'll give you 25 quid for it. Putting the board in the C is ripping the lining !
  15. Were in good company. About two years ago Shaun Rider had his VR6 knicked and it was used in a robbery. Class could only happen to Mr Rider. He got it back though.
  16. Servicing me 16v on Sat. I have had the ABS warning light stay on for a week or so now. The brakes work but no ABS. I am goin to strip the brakes to see if I can find anything wrong. Has anyone else had this ? to help me know what to look for.
