  1. Hi, Mine was the cam positioning sensor that was at fault. It came up on the VAG but that also thought the Coil pack was faulty so go figure. Still replacing the cam sensor fixed mine. Hope it helps. Chris.
  2. Mine doesn't go that high but it might depend on how the car has been driven. Does the temp go back down once the fans come in ? Have a look in the VR6 Running hot thread further down in this forum for more in info on what might be wrong, or not.
  3. 100 on the water temp & the oil can be anything up to 120 depending on the outside temperature & how you drive it.
  4. My pump does make a noticable noise, & the filter has never been done. i'm convinced its something fuel related as it gets worse when hot. When it was on the rolling road they check most of the electrical stuff & it was fine even the HT leads were ok. I'll get the filter done. cheers for the help,Fingers crossed its something cheap.
  5. I did think about trying injector cleaner, It could be worth a go. The Vag system came back with the engine speed sensor problem, not sure of the exact error, I'll ask the garage when I drop the car off with them. Would a fuel pump cause this sort of problem ??
  6. Well I got the car back Friday night after the garage had fitted the new Engine speed sensor.Took it for a drive and all seemed well, until the following morning.Had only done 3 miles when I felt the engine try to cut out whilst driving along. It mangaged to keep going & not stall on me so i could get it home. I've now checked all the relays under the dash & they seem in good condition so I don't think that could be causing the problem. I've spoken to the garage & they will have the car back in to test it again. Could this be a fuel pump/filter problem ???? Its odd how its trying to cut out but it will restart straight away but only after a cough & splutter. It does rev ok once you get it started it just doesn't like it under load.
  7. I think I'll do that, great suggestions by the way.The part won't be in until Friday so we'll see what they say. They have confirmed that the fault appeared when they had the engine running. :? We shall see. thanks again for all the help.
  8. What Oil do people recommend to use ??
  9. The Garage has just got back to me to say that the Engine speed sensor has been logged as being faulty on the VAG system. They cleared the fault & then re started the engine & checked the system again. The VAG system reported that the engine speed sensor was at fault again.Hopefully this is going to be the cause (Fingers crossed). Does anyone know how much they are ??? Also I'll get the fuel filter done asap. Thanks for the warning.
  10. Its just happened again now, the engine restarted but as soon as you try to drive it trys to cut out.It seems to be fine on idle but not under load.Luckily I was near a friends garage & they have said they will have a look at it.Atleast its consistant. Thanks for all the help & advice, hopefully it'll get fixed.
  11. Thanks for that.I appreciate the help. Chris.
  12. The trouble is the engine dies as soon as you dip the clutch once it has started to kangaroo. The odd thing with it is it will rev ok if you dip the clutch and rev the eninge once the Kangarooing has started. It seems to play up as soon as its under load.Ie in gear. When it happend it cleared itself after 20 min of waiting for the RAC to come out. Where is the speed sensor I'll try removing it and see if it looks damaged etc ?
  13. I'll try that. One thing I have also noticed is the fuel pump is noticeable but not all the time.I've never run it low on fuel but I've got no record of it having a Fuel Pump or filter. The car has only do 72K so should it of had a filter buy now ?
  14. I'll start with Cheap & easy things and go from there.
  15. Cheers.I should pay more attention.
