the plot thinkens.... the engine code had be removed...yes removed!! the area indicated in the picture was easy to find but was rusty! assuming the top layer had been taken off exposing the metal beneith....could have been natural rusting but i suspect its been filed off... anyways the only number i could find are as follows 1120138e - stamped in the head belt side 0148 - on the engine block at the front near dip stick 80hbh -as above 021103373c - on rear of head are these any help to me ?? ok sooo someone else has surgested the engine is newer then i thought first...as in 1996 VW changed the corrado engine from double to single...top chain... not an older 1994 engine as i first thought... so the engine code shoudl be ABV not AAA sound right? J

i cant work out where that is Supercharged?? i found ABD on the back engine mount... but thats obviously not it Thanks Joel

Thanks that was my next question where was the code... so it might have a diffrent head... the tensioner and guides and chain dont apear to have a lot of wear on them so that might add up Umm ok this could get more confusing before it gets simpler... J

ok this weekend i settled down to do my timing chains... with the knowlege base how to which i must say is amazing! so thanks who ever put that together. eveyrthing was gong great had the chains off put the bottom one on and went to put the top on but ggaarr the chain they had given me for the type of car and year was diffrent to the chain i just took off the engine!! Ok the chain on the car is a single or (simpelx) chain similar to the bottom chain but longer... the chain the had given me was a double or (duplex) chain (like the one in the how to guide) ... does this mean i have a diffrent vr6 engine coudl it be a gof engine 2.8ltr and not a corrado2.9ltr.. even though the engine came out of a corrado shell! or have i just got the age of the engine wrong? does anyone know why there is a diffrence here? ggaarr Thanks Joel

Hi all yes its another so whats this then? question. This time i dont have a pic handy so will try and descride it. Remove the air box and under this is a circuit of clear pipes... one looks like it follows the fules lines towards the back of the car ..(i have not followed it back yet) this is connected to a T peice one bit goes to the engine the other goes to black cylinder, this cylinder hangs down behind the bumper... i disconnected the end that connected to the engine area no liquid came out... Also fuel lines is the top or bottom the return pipe? (last one if your still with me) under side drivers side there is a large silver cylinder in the fuel line is this the filter? Thanks Joel

Fair enough... anyone wanna buy a working PAS system from a corrado its alot better then any modern systems :lol: Joel

steering only goes uber heavy as your fighting against the PAS system with the hydralic fluid in.. im sure the car will be fine with just a rack... heavey in a slow parking situation yes, but once rolling you would be surprised how easy it will steer and the steering will be so much more responsive... Dont forget engine is going into a MK2 golf for drag racing so power steering not really a must, last time i was on a drag strip it was straight ;-) lol ...and can shed some weight by ditching it all im a big strong lad so im sure i can trun the wheel when i need to once its rolling i dout it wil be that bad Im thinking leave the pump in i assume its run from the belt on the left of the engine and i can ditch every thing else... i will probably use the steering rack from golf as the corrado is basically a golf with a diffrent shape body J

arrow is pointing to a container in a corrado engine bay, in side is some nasty smelling liquid. two pipes come from this container one goes to the front under the radiator where then the pipe is connected to a metal pipe and reconnects to a pipe the goes back into the engine bay, the other pipe disapears into the engine bay. Is it to do with the power steering ? Can the power system be removed? and the steering still be used? Thanks Joel

P slots have already been sold... makeing way for 5 stud hubs and the speedlines can get a better selection of slicks for the speed line size then i coudl for the small P slots Spent at the moment already to much but as of yet not enough! lol Joel

lol the 1.5 gallon alloy fuel tank wont help :lol: J
