  1. Thanks for the tips, just had a go with some keys I've got for the sony stereo in my mk2 golf gti, problem at the moment is I can't get the plastic surround off though. Will have another go when its light tomorrow. Cheers fellas
  2. Bit of a novice question this one but can someone tell me how to remove the stereo (Sony - as originally fitted) from my VR6? It squeaks every time I go over a bump and is slowing driving me to madness. Any help would be very much appreciated. Cheers
  3. Yeah I know what you mean, would have been to get one with Leather but the low miles won me over - might put leather in it at a later date if funds allow....
  4. Sorry to hear about your problems, hopefully you'll get it all sorted v. soon I picked up the Dragon Green VR6 (78k miles) with Electric Recaros about a month ago, so far no problems to report although after collection I noticed that there is a small chip in the windscreen and one of the alarm sensors is hanging off, small points which I should have noticed upon viewing, but from a dealer would have been nice if these had been sorted. Anyway, it runs beautifully and so far I've loved every second of owenership, its good to hear that the guys in Kinver should sort me out if I do get any problems.....
  5. Can anyone recomend anywhere in the Bristol area for a quality wheel refurb? Cheers all
  6. Cheers for the tips, Decided that as i've bought a low mileage car in exceptional condition its worth getting an agreed valuation - to hopefully prevent a nasty experience in the event of a claim. After a bit of ringing around managed to get my 10 years no claims mirrored by HIC, and an agreed valuation all for £25 less than the best nearest quote -so the best of both worlds it seems (no I'm not on commission!)! Elephant, Adrian Flus, Admiral all quoting around £550 to £600 with 10 years no claims!! must be where I live I guess! of maybe it could be the SP30s?
  7. Hi folks, After a long search managed to find myself a mint VR6, can't wait to collect on Saturday. Has anyone had good experiences with insuarance companies and can therefore recomend? Unfortunately the car will have to parked on the street so i'm bit worried it might get half-inched, is it worth getting an agreed valuation policy? E.g. has anyone had any nightmares with insurers only paying out a fraction of the vehicles true value? Any tips would be greatefully recevied. Cheers all
  8. Cheers guys, also did a bit of ringing around today - looks like £750 + VAT for a head rebuild, £1,450 incl VAT to get chains, tensioner and clutch done aswell at a certain well known specialist near Oxford. So big money basically but the car I'm looking at has a perfect history (every receipt from new), stamped service book and has had thousands spent on it. Heater leather recaro interior and very straight exterior, price is £4k so even with the work its cheaper than a lower mileage car (70-80k). And there's not really any reason to think it needs any work anyway. That price sound about right? If anyone fancies checking the car out for me then it be very much appreciated......!
  9. Cheers guys, I'll get on the search too and see what I can find By the way I'm based in Bristol Thanks again
  10. I'm considering buying a 4 owner VR6 with 108k with full and exstensive history, was originally trying to find a lower mileage example. I know these cars tend to require head rebuilds, timing chains and (gulp!) full reuilds at higher mileages but what are the warning signs? Would also be great if you could give me some idea of cost for this work, and if there's any other work that should maybe be done at the same time? Cheers
  11. Does anyone know why some vr6 cars have a red badge ('VR6' all red on front grille, just the '6' red on rear badge) and some silver? Would appreciate it if someone can enlighten me as I'm considering buying a car which unexpectedly has red badges! Cheers
