  1. Thanks Supercharged - but why would I need a new cap? Apologies if I'm being dumb. Cheers Paul
  2. Thank you particularly Dr Mat and Jim for your helpful replies. I'll get her topped up tonight with kettle water and order some of the special coolant tomorrow first thing - then when I next have some daylight and a spare 10 mins I'll go around the engine bay with a microsope focussing on the areas you suggest Dr Mat. One more question.... am I best to have the engine running / have just come back from a decent run if I'm to have the best chance of isolating a leak? Thanks again Paul
  3. Hi Really sorry to ask such a silly question but I have no manual with my VR6 and am not that clued up about such things...quite new to all this only having owned the car a month... The coolant warning light has started flashing on the dash of my 92k VR6 and on checking under the bonnet I noticed the pink stuff was well under minimum. What should I be topping it up with - tap water? something from Halfords or something from VW only. I have also noticed a small leak on the driveway - I'm assuming a possible relationship here - what's the best way to try to isolate a leak? I do have a slight low rev misfire too (circa 2000 revs), but everything sounds fine on tickover and there is plenty of smooth power as you climb the rev range. Anything to worry about do you think? Thanks and apologies again!! Any help much appreciated!! Paul
  4. I bought a 77k one owner full VW history mint 92 VR6 for £4500 off this forum a couple of months ago. No leather though. I would say it was bang on the money. £5k I reckon, if the condition is very good.
  5. I'm going to try and reset the ECU with the battery disconnection, "held RPM's and floor it for a few seconds" method. KADVR6 has also suggested cleaning the ISV and that his similar problem turned out to be the camshaft sensor. Any other input appreciated! Thanks
  6. Hi All I'm new, so there may be some silly questions... I have recently become the proud owner of a VR6 and am loving it. My only slight source of frustration is that the engine feels lumpy when I am applying only slight throttle (cruising in 2nd, 3rd, 4th with just a little pressure on the accelerator pedal). Idle is fine by the way and apart from this slight problem power delivery is as smooth as I'd expect. I have seen a couple of threads on similar things, mentioned stuff about polishing, porting, coil packs, fuel filters, resetting the ECU. I took the car in to a sepcialist whos opinion I respect and he said he believed it was a flaw in the early Corrado VR6s (mine is a 92 K reg) which VW resolved later with modifications to the engine management. He recommended having a chip fitted as a definite thing to do - might resolve lumpiness and would defninitely give a more useful spread of power and improve driveability. I'm not entirely convinced though. So my questions are: What would you look at to resolve this and in what order? Would you go for a chip? Thanks for your help
