Mr Sands. The place is called CARS which stands for central autobody repair specialists. Turn off the city walls round at the roundabot where the jag HA fox dealership was and its on your left.

Just an update. The guy gave me his insurance details and its being approved now. Im having the work done at cars in worcester. They can indeed heat the bumber up to remove most of the dent and repaint. Im going to get the right hand side of the car done at the same time. It will cost me £480 to have all the parking dents removed and repainted. This side is the most in need of work as there are a few heavyish parking marks behind the door handle under the rear side window and a surface rust bubble where the side repeater has been messed with. Add a few more pimples here and there and being black they spoil the car really. So this is a chance to improve the car greatly. I need some replacement parts and these are the prices Vw have given me. Drivers wing moulding-£13.18 Door moulding-£38.19 Quarter moulding-£26.91 Mirror glass-£47.12 (ouch!. Mines badly delaminated so needs doing) wing indicators £6.60 each. Can I get these items cheaper?

Hi. Yesterday morning I was sat at traffic lights half awake at 7am minding my own when I was hit from behind. It moved me forward several feet. The guy driving a people carrier stopped and tried to laugh it off by saying he had heard something funny on the radio and that there was no damage done. I insisted on getting his details as it was dark and the bumper was covered in frost!, so how could he possibley see if there is damage. He was a bit funny about it and made me feel as though I was making a fuss. He then told me as he was leaving that he was actually a copper! Anyway in daylight there is a slight dent. I am annoyed because the bumper was perfect. I need the parking dents on the sides to be sorted but now have another problem. Can this be repaired or would it need a new bumper?. Can you even get new bumpers any more?.Am I being to fussy over a small dent for the hassle of claiming? Any thoughts welcome Thanks

Since my last input on this thread in 04 Ive had to sell my Storm. I was gutted but got a good price for it £6750 at 91k. Ive since bought a L reg VR, metalic black 99k ,no leather or air con. Needs a few jobs doing here and there £2950. Im having more fun because Im not so worried about it. Its not so important to keep the mileage down or avoid car parks. And Im enjoying getting my hands dirty and improving its condition.

It has not got leather. You can not have everything at that price! But I thought I would be dissapointed but Im not. The seats are black and in nice condition and seem better quality than some of the earlier grey cloth interiors I have seen. And they are arguably more comfortable than the black leather ones in my storm which would get hot and sweaty over a long journey. Dont get me wrong I still love leather interiors! By the way it is not diamond black but LA9V Brilliant black metalic which I think is a rare colour.

Hi. Its a year and a half since I had to sell my Storm because of financial reasons. I was gutted and promised my self Id get another VR6 one day. I did not think it would be yet but this was so reasonable I had to go and have a look. Its a brilliant black metalic VR, which Ive not seen many of. It goes a deep graphite when the sun catches it and looks stunning. Just serviced and MOTed with new disks and pads all round before I bought it. Stamped up service book with every old MOT. Everything seems to work. Drives really nice. In fact the engine is quieter on start up than my Storm was. Its done 98k and I paid £2950 for it.

Cheers. I must admit by doing the work myself I now have a lot better understanding of how it all works and that you cant get away with oe dampers. Also the drongos who I got to lower it originally had assembled the right strut incorrectly  And they had failed to cut down the bump stops. This is the results. This is before I cut down the new ones by the way. I also replaced the mount rubbers as these had compressed a bit.
-
By the way. I dug my oe springs out of the shed to compare with my Eibachs. More than 30mm diference Id say. no wonder it sat down low at the back!

Better Stance

Non broad band Bleeding computor Tyry again!
-
Ah. But... Ive done the work and yes I would have got H&Rs if money was no object but I thought as I already have eibachs I would try them. Ride is much better with Konis and dont forget Im on 15s, Anyway if i Can get the rest of the poxy photos to download youll se what I mean

As some of you will remember from other threads I have not been happy with the ride height of my VR6 since I had Eibach springs fitted. It sat slightly lower at the back than the front and I was always scrapeing the cat shield on speed humps. All I ever wanted was a slight drop as I want the car to be standard looking. Anyway after surfing tons of threads on this forum and doing some research of my own the solution was in the koni top adjustable ON THE CAR shocks as these have a 5 groove height adjust as aposed to just two positions. Anyway here are some photos.

Ok thanks. I was trying to anticipate things to replace before taking it appart so I dont have to order parts and delay the job as it is my daily driver at the moment. I hope the rears lift a bit. In non technical terms I can get 2 fingers between the arch and the tyre on the front and only 1 at the back :D
-
Ok thanks. Have finally got some koni adjustable shocks. Am going to do it it 2 stages. 1 weekend for the rear and another for the front. Will try and take some pictures. I want to raise the ride height at the back slightly as the eibachs are notoriously low at the rear. Will I get away with just replacing the mounting rubbers or should I take the struts apart first. The trouble I have is that I need the car on the road by the monday.
-
I want to rebuild the rear suspension. i have 3 axle stands and a trolley jack. Where should I support the car so I can remove the rear suspension safely. Im not too keen on using the sill points.
-
It may look nice but the ride quality would be shocking :-P

I have Air-con in my Storm and it makes a heck of a difference in the really hot stuffy weather espescially with the black interior. I had a 16v before with no air con so no how uncomfortable it is without. However considering that 90 percent of the time it is pants weather it was not on my priority list when I was looking for a VR6 but an added bonus non the less.
-
I dont let the engine labour! My point is its got a heck of a lot of torque and is more relaxing to drive than a 16v. Alough dont get me wrong I enjoyed my 16v Corrado, you just have to rev it a lot more. The G60 being different again with a punch of accelleration as soon as you touch the peddle.
-
I had a 92 2l 16v and loved it but was always a tad dissapointed with the performance- it didnt seem to go much better then my scirroco GT2. So I test drove a VR6 at Autotek. WOW. This was 3 years ago when they had some very low mileage examples. It was quiet , refined and burbled away nicely. So I bought my Storm from them. You can when in a relaxed mood almost drive it like an automatic , it will pull in 5th from about 35. Drop it to 3rd and off it flys. And I can get 31 or 32 on a long trip.

Ive had my Storm 3 years. Problems Ive encountered are. Coil pack. -Repaired with resin after seeing thread on this forum. Dry tensioner bearing.- removed re greased and sorted after seeing a thread on here. Theromostat housing leak. Replaced housing and thermostat after seeing a thread on here. intermitent imobiliser fault. You guessed it. Repaired after seeing Thread on here. Im no mechanic but there is so much imfo on here that it has enabled me not to get stung by the harsh labour charges and know that a job has been done properly. So in effect the forum has probably saved me a good £1000 pounds.
