Hi Does anyone know if these torches charge up properly in the C's cigarette lighter socket? Apparently they don't work with some older VW's. Thought it would be a useful thing to have in the car rather than the lighter which never gets used. Ta ST

Fanbloodytastic. My seats were missing the rubber piece at the front of the centre runner. Fitted new ones of these and the other clips as well and the difference is amazing. The seats don't move at all, they are completely rock solid. And to push the seats forward/backward you have to sit in them and use the strength of your legs, you can't do it by hand when out of the car now. Another job off of the list, will be down to only 2 sheets of A4 at this rate. :D T

I did get a full refund on the clips though. Anyway, managed to phone up the stealers and that rubber U shaped thing is only on one side of the seat. Don't know what it does but hopefully in an hour I'll have wobble free seats.T

Hi Just taken my passenger seat out to fit new rail clips to stop it wobbling and noticed a clear rubber u shaped bung on one side of the seat but a hole on the other side. It's to the left of the clip in the photo. Should I have one on both sides? Ta ST P.S. Don't bother buying clip sets off of eBay, mine are poorly moulded and two of them aren't even the correct shape and don't fit. :(

I went out today looking for some of these. None of the local tools/ auto spare people had one. Most people told me there wasn't a tool for this and they were designed for use with mole grips, tossers. Anyway, at the last moment I decided to go to GSF. The sales woman knew what I wanted, found it on her computer and it was in stock. £25 +VAT. Got my 10% CCGB discount bringing it down to about £26. Took me 30 mins to change both water hoses. This tool is an absolute dream. Thanks for all your help. I'm off to fit an oil cooler now. :D (what a difference a day makes.) Ta ST

Now that isn't such a daft idea. Thanks Cazza. Reckon I could find a jubilee clip large enough to go over the whole car and tighten? Would make me feel a little better until I'd realised what I'd done. Ta ST

Hi Just had a wonderful day cutting my hands to ribbons while playing with my G60. Spent ages trying to get my bumper off of the car. Found out that one of the captive nuts on the radiator cross member which the engine cross member is held on by (when you remove the bumper bolts) is no longer there (rusted away), another two turns of the bumper bolts and the engine would have been on the floor. Definately need a new radiator cross member asap now. :( Spent another age getting the sump off, cleaning the oil pump and fitting a new windage tray only to find that 3 of the bolts are now spinners. Hopefully these 3 are tight enough but they wouldn't go up to 20n/m with the torque wrench. :( Finally, got around to having a look at my oil cooler. drained the coolant and............that's as far as I got. Those bloody spring clips on the little T piece hose next to the filter wont come off at all. I must have spent 2 hours with pliers, mole grips, water pump pliers and could only shift one of them. I knopw I wasn't in the best frame of mind when attempting this thanks to my mornings endeavours but this is just silly. Please, please, please can someone tell me where I can buy a set of pliers to get these clips off tomorrow? Failing that, just bring me the git who designed the clips and I'll force feed him the front end of a C. Rant over. ST

Hi Just received form G Werks a Mocal oil cooler kit for my G60. I'm not sure but I think I may be missing some bits. I asked for a full fitiing kit with thermostatic sandwich plate and water hoses to remove the factory cooler. Here is a picture of what I received. I expected to see more hoses than that, maybe even a couple of mounting brackets and bolts. Can someone confirm I do/don't have everything I need before I start please. Thank you ST

Hi I've spent an hour tonight trying to find a post on here. It lists the part numbers for the sprung solenoid bit that lifts the boot 2 inches when you press the lock in. Can anyone help me find it? Thanks ST

Thanks for that. My G60 is a late model one with the bonnet bulge and 15 gal fuel tank so the 16V/G60 one has got to be the one. Cheers ST

Hi Not sure what the technical term for it is but the cross member thingy that the radiator sits on is very rusty on my G60. Where can I get another one from and how much should I expect to pay? What is it called as I don't want to be phoning people and asking for a thingy? :D I assume it's a straight bolt on part? Ta ST

I just phoned my local stealers and they can't order a new ignition lock barrel by key number. Gits. (wasted my time changing over my locks to a new key I had bought now) Also they reckon it's £47 +VAT for the lock barrel, £96 +VAT if your unlucky with an immobiliser. I'm getting right pissed off with my car now, everything costs a fortune. I was was better off with Fords. :( Problem is getting slightly more urgent now as the bloody ignition switch is playing up now. ST

Hi Firstly, I have just re-tumbled all of the locks on my car back to original spec and want to do the same to the ignition barrel, but I understand I need to buy a new barrel for the ignition as it can't be re-tumbled. I have the key code, is it still possible to go to VW with this code and order a new barrel to match? Any idea of price? I've also got a new ignition switch to fit. Seeing as my lock housing has already been drilled I'd like to replace it with a new one, is the GSF one any good? Finally, I seached the Wiki and found this: Ignition barrel replacement Remove steering wheel. Remove both lower & upper steering column cowls. Remove both stalk switches. Break old steering lock housing apart (will not come away from steering column in 1 piece) - use "grips" on top & left side of lock housing. Softish alloy & should break off quite easily. Turn electrical switch to 1st position, attach & screw to back of new lock housing. Fit new lock housing to steering column. Turn key in new lock cylinder to first position & line up with slot in electrical switch. Slide new lock cylinder into new steering lock housing. Re-assemble stalk switches, cowls & steering wheel. There is no requirement for drilling the old lock cylinder - it will come away from the car still attached to the mashed-up lock housing. Took me 15 minutes from start to finish. How do you fit the new lock housing to the steering column, is it bolted on, any special tools needed, do I need to remove anything else? Just want an idea of what to expect before I start. Thaks ST

Hi Finally, I'm just about to fill my car with sounds but have a little problem. My lovely motor doesn't have a roof aerial , it's been filled and smoothed over. Now, I don't want to ruin the looks by drilling a hole for another one. Is there any other options? Internal, stick on, DAB? Ta T

Money's tight at the moment so that will have to be later in the year. I might try and get some quotes on doing the cam belt at the same time though. That's due to be done soon. Any ideas on a ballpark figure to change the timing belts and water pump etc? I bet the Phirm are up to their armpits in work too. T
