Hi again Are you going to be stocking these for the forseeable future, because I only want to get the oil pressure one at the moment but want to buy some others later and want them to match? Also, what is the thread size on the sender please as I want to find a t-piece so I can keep my original warning sender? Anyone know wheres the best place to get this t-piece? Ta T

Hi Very nice Edition 1. Glad you replied as the link in my first post was the blue SWG ones. I'm assuming these are the same price? Do they come with senders? Thanks ST
-
I've seen those VDO dials before and I think they're okay, just wanted something more modern looking really. I think you can still get them but the mounting plate they come with only fits late model C's like yours and mines a G60. I'm also not overly keen on having to cut open the gauges to fit the DDI faces. I'm probably going to put the three gauges I want where the stereo mounts and relocate the stereo where the cigarette lighter sits. I think it's better to have them higher up in my field of view. It is a pity that most of the better gauges are American so temps are in F and not C. Thanks for your views. ST

Hi Hopefully the GB on the DDI dials will be resurrected and I'll get a set with the bezel rings. What I want to know is what additional gauges (oil pressure, boost, oil temp) look good and a close match to the dials? I'm interested in the swp ones but they are advertised under the golf mk4 section so don't know if they will fit the corrado or if they come with the required senders. Picture HERE Any ideas? Thanks ST

Good news. Rang up VW and quoted the part number 056 919 081C and without any prompting, the parts guy said that part code had been superseded by the 028 919 081C number which I already have. So, I'll whack that on tomorrow. And I'll book my car into the phirm for a checkup asap. T
-
Managed to do the 068 919 081 one now which was on top of the oil filter housing and is the same number as the one it replaced. But, I did a double check on the part number for the one on the side of the head. The original and still current sensor on my car isn't 028 919 081C as I first thought, it's 056 919 081C (0.15 - 0.45bar). Can someone who has access to the software do a quick parts number check for me please to confirm this is indeed correct and the number I should replace it with. Thanks T

Hi again Sorry been away for a few days. Thanks for all of your thoughts and help. The oil was changed to synta silver the week I got the car. What I'm going to do is change the other oil pressure sender over to the new one (black one) and hopefully get the blue one replaced with the correct one at VW. (As I've already paid for them) Then I'll have to take my car to the phirm and get them to do a full test on the oil pressure/temperature and check the cooling system works as it should. I know they will tend towards the fitting of a mocal but as I said before I don't want to mask any problems (but I'm sure it would probably solve the problem because the oil wouldn't get so hot.) And I'll have to take their advice from then. Hopefully 2007 is the chinese year of the G60. :D Cheers T

Hi It is a high miler 150k. But sounds really good and I've had it for 3 months and it's not used any oil whatsoever. It's had a few mods (copy and pasted because I'm lazy): Fully rebuilt TSR polished and ported head Jabba stage4 supercharger Schrick 268 cam Superchip and smaller pulley Stroeve induction kit Custom built Jettex stainless exhaust system Stainless TSR 4 into 1 manifold I was definately going to put a decent oil cooler on but I wanted the pressure light to be sorted first, I didn't want to mask any problems the car had. The light only comes on after a lot of hard driving and when I slow down to about 40mph, that must be about 1600 revs in 5th gear I suppose. I always take note of the light and stop immediately but need to get it sorted asap otherwise I may lose my patience and go and buy a corsa. Cheers T

Hi Just wondered where I can get some tailored fit rubber car mats for the front of my C? I seem to bring in lots of dirt with me so nice fluffy mats will die quickly. I quite like the look of the Cannon profile ones in halfords, they are half rubber half carpet but I bet they don't fit the C nicely? Any ideas T

Hi Appreciate all comments but who's to say that my car or anyones for that matter is fitted with the correct sensors? It could have been incorrectly changed by any previous owner/garage. I'm a bit unsure what to do now and I know my local VW garage will be of no help. I still can't see why some cars have different sensors to others of the same model. Anyway, will sleep on it. Had the car for 3 months now without being able to do any long journeys so another couple of weeks won't matter. Merry Christmas to all and thanks for all your help. T

Thanks for the quick reply. I've just put the old one back on and the new one had 0.15 - 0.35 printed on it. I'll have to try and take it back now, bet they won't accept it. I bet the other one has a different number as well. How come there is a lot of G60's with different numbered sensors on them? I would have thought they would all have had the same one? T

I've finally got the bits from VW and just did the one on the side of the head. The original was a 'black' one number 028 919 081C with a pressure rating of 0.15 - 0.45 bar. Is it okay using the 081D 'blue' in it's place? Can't do the other one yet as I need to get a deep 24mm socket and universal joint to give me access. Grrr. Ta T

Is that book a good read Supercharged? T

Hi I'm pretty new here and have received some really good help from some of you and thought I'd let you know where I got my Bentley book from. It cost me £53.21 from a UK company. So no problems with Vat or import duty. My copy was fully brand new and still sealed. And it has to be the best car manual I've ever seen. Really justifies the price over a Haynes, if you could get one for the C. It's the size of a telephone directory if you havem't seen it and the delivery is included in the price. Hope this is of some help. T http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/WEBSITE/WWW/WEBPAGES/showbook.php?id=0837603870 P.S. I'm not connected with the company in any way but they delivered my book within 4 days which I thought was pretty good.

Thank you. I'm not really very good at engine stuff but always willing to try and learn. I know it's not rocket science, just want to try and sort this out methodically without introducing other problems. Is it best to use genuine VW sensors or can I get away with GSF knockoffs? Thanks T

Hi I've done a search and hopefully made a half decent diagnosis of my problem, would appreciate if someone could confirm this, :thumbleft:. Oil pressure light blinks and bleeps when oil is hot (110) and I drop the speed to 40mph (about 2000 revs). Doesn't happen very often (say once on a 25mile journey) but annoying when it does. My first thing to change is the oil pressure sensor? I assume this is the one closest to the block on top of the oil filter housing with a number of 068 919 081 colour is black? Thanks T

Hi Update. Fitted my uprated headlight loom yesterday and changed a few earth leads from the battery as well. Found one of the leads was a litle loose. Anyway, took the car for a run today and the oil took much longer to get up to temperature and stayed around 102 for ages. Then after a nice thrash it maxed out at 110. Great I thought, managed to fix it without even trying. Anyway, on the way home the oil pressure light came on 3 times. !st time it was at 40mph on straight road with oil temp reading of 102, it went out after 3 secs. 2nd time it was just after a roundabout oil temp at 110 and wouldn't stop so I pulled over for 2 mins. 3rd time was 200 yrds further down the road where I stopped for 10 mins and it was fine for the 5 mile journey home. Oil level is on max. Recently changed genuine oil filter. water temperature at a steady 95. The engine rocker cover was very hot to touch but it wasn't like I could see steam or hot air rising from the engine when I lifted the bonnet. Any ideas? Nearly a good day today, might have turned out to be a right git of a day now. Thanks T

Nope, blue G60, bought it from here after lurking in the background for a few months. Thought this was the best place to find a C which had been looked after, and I was right. :) Thanks Phil. T

Hi I've got my car booked in for next week so had a look this morning to see if I could find the place. Is there only one entrance to the place? I came in from the Tilford Road, along a pretty poor Hyde Lane, then into a horrible dirt track Quail House Farm where I gave up. There must be a graveyard to front splitters up there somewhere. Don't want to fight my way up there next week only to be told "you should've come in the other way mate". Ta T
-
Thanks Steveo, really appreciate it. Mine reads about 25 degrees higher when the engine is running. I'm 90% certain it's a false reading, just need to work out why now. T
-
Hi Trying to trace the fault for my high oil temp reading. Can someone check something for me please? After having driven your car up to working temperature, before you turn the engine off make a note of the oil temp. Then turn the engine off and put the ignition back on (don't start the car though). Press the MFA button until the oil temp comes up, is it the same temp reading as when the engine was running? Ta T
-
Might be worth checking the earth strap from your battery to the engine hasn't bust or corroded. A long shot but a cheap check. T
-
Fitted the oil temp sender today. Very little change, still fluctuating temps but a little lower now, settles around 126 while at a constant 80mph. I'm not fully confident the thermostat and water pump works as it should. The whole cooling system thing just confuses the hell out of me. The water temps are fine, I am using zero oil and water but the radiator bottom hose is rarely hot (?), the fan works on both speeds both by shorting the connections and by unplugging the fan until the rad gets really hot then plugging it back in to see the fast speed work then slow then off. Think I'll have to bite the bullet and take it in somewhere. I just can't have any fun with the car if I'm scared of the temps all the time. Anyone know of any decent garages in the Farnham area? Ta T
-
Tnks for that. After it opens does it stay permanently open or does it cycle between opening and shutting as the temperature changes? The reason I say this is sometimes my rad feels cool in the bottom half and other times feels hot, either situation can happen after decent runs but the water temp never goes above 100 on the gauge. T

Hi I've tried the search but can't find it. What temperature does the thermostat on a G60 open at please? Mine seems to be about 95degs ish. Ta T
