I work on the service desk in a main dealer (and have a decent grasp of mechanics, which is rare in this job) and this man speaks the truth. I genuinely had this the other day, old boy comes in for a service, when he collects his car he started shouting and balling that his car won't start now, so I go outside and he says "look, I put the clutch in, press start and nothing happens" at this point I made him aware he was pressing the throttle, cue 5mins of arguing which pedal is which before he left with a red face and his tail between his legs.

Steering Column Mod - Quick, Effective and Cheap!
7onny replied to somersetdub's topic in Drivetrain
Just done this today. Much better now! Cheers guys! -
I got some from halfords a couple of months ago. I think Iv got one left, I'll see if I can dig it out and give you info off the packaging.
-
Yeah I'll have to have measure up at the weekend because it It is pretty tight.
-
Cheers Ian, that's a right good price that!

Is that on a g60 buddy, it seems because of the boost pipes I can't get something too large as it'll get in the way.
-
Alright folks. My g60's battery is way past it's best (Infact it's been on charge for 3 days and counting). So it's time to splash some cash. Iv heard good and bad things about the yellow top optima ( I think that's what there called) I just want something that's maintenance free, and will be powerful enough to fire the car after it's been laid up. I have the pleasure of a second car so the corrado only gets driven about twice a week, and at the moment it only does a few miles to blow the cobwebs off. I'm not sure if I need something with a high cca (cold cranking amps?). Cheers.

Sound, cheers lads! I'll see how I go and may not bother with the polo column then.
-
Awesome cheers. Jim if you could get me some pics aswell that would be great. The more Iv got to go on the better. Thanks.

Hi. I have quite abit of play in my steering column, iv read about the polo column swap and it's something I'll be sticking my teeth into in the summer, but until then, has anyone had any success bolting/fixing the adjustable corrado column together to get rid of the Woolley feeling? Thanks.

Hi buddy. You have PM. -
Ok I'll try that in the morning and let you know.
-
Right Iv checked the wot switch and it doesn't seem to change the engine note. Does it ignore the wot switch if it's not fully up to temp. As it had only been ticking over for about 5-10mins when I checked.
-
Thanks for that Matt. I'll have a look into that today and let you know.

The switches seem fine but I'll double check, the throttle cable is a little slack to be honest, but could that affect the operation of the isv?

Hi. My 92 g60 hunts and bucks around when the ISV is plugged in, iv taken it off and cleaned it and soaked it over night in carb cleaner, and its made no difference. However, if I unplug it, it idles fine and drives as it should. So, for the past few weeks iv driven without it plugged in (but still in place). Iv borrowed a known working isv off my mates golf g60 and i have the same problem of hunting, and iv tried my isv on my mates car and its fine! I'm now wanting to get a chip and pulley kit and wondered if the new chip wouldn't like the ISV being unplugged. Could someone advise me on how to solve this problem or if its fine leaving it unplugged. Ta - jonny.

That orange one lives in my town, looks awful but go's like the clappers! Or at least it did years ago.
-
I know, it's very strange. Oh well it appears iv posted more times in the last 7 minutes than the last 7 years.
-
I fact I was barely old enough to drive 7 years ago lol!
-
Hmm, that's strange. I only joined about 4weeks ago. Not sure why its saying that?

Hi. I've been on the forum a while but never really posted. My names jonny. And I've had my g60 for around 6months. After a few problems that needed ironing out I'm ready to start tarting it up abit. If had a few vw in my time. Mainly mk2 golfs, I've had a mk2 vr6, a mk2 2lt 16v, a mk2 8v on carbs, a mk2 driver and a few others such as mk3's and mk2 polo. I've gotta say I love how the corrado drives compared to a mk2 golf. Any friendly advice on general corrado running tips would be very much appreciated. I understand keeping the g60 happy is a full time job but I have the luxury of having a boring daily to knock about. Annnyway, hi.

Hi. I'm new to the forum and thought I'd better start with a bang (so to speak). I'm having a major ball ache with my 91 g60 at the moment. So it's been off the road about 8 weeks now with various running problems. It's recently had,new plugs, leads, dizzy cap, dizzy, rotor arm, fuel filter, vac pipes and a general spruce up. Brought on by a problem I've been having with it intermittently starting. I seem to be solving one problem and bringing to light another. So I now (after having an auto electrican out) have a consistent spark. I'm seeing a healthy amount of fuel coming through, but it still won't fire. I've had it running on Saturday, I ran it up to temp, and I followed the timing procedure and got it all timed up. Thought "what a good job" feeling all optimistic. 20 mins later, it won't fire again. Still got fuel and spark but it just won't run. It doesn't even splutter. So we checked and then double checked the timing and it seems fine. I'm at abit of a loss at the min. And I'd love the car running to get to vw festival this weekend. Any suggestions?
