hehe the mk3 golf is a tad different to the mk1 and 2 golfs though...how can I put this...it was sh1te? lol I think I need to go out and test drive a G60 HARD and then come back here and report back! The thing is, I need a car that I can enjoy as a ddaily driver as donthave the money nor time to only drive a stripped out harsh mk1 on the weekends doing track days etc. I need to be able to set off to work and be able to hear music playing above the wind noise :D The MK1 cant cut it anymore for me as a daily driver. I need something more civilised but still rewarding to drive being an all round combination of the two cars.

Yes mine was lhasa green too. I went out in a vr6 corrado recently and my god did it fly round corners. Nice balance and a nice progressive drift. I cant say I thought it understeered much at all actually. I still think I will have to buy a corrado g60 soon. Just a case of when funds will allow.

I took out my mk1 the other day before I sell it...I forgot how fun they were even with the standard GTI engine in them. How does the corrado g60 compare handleing wise? Will it be too much of a transition for me to cope with? Im just so in love with the chuckability of a mk1 and how it powers out of corners so well...how much of this will I loose with the "upper class ness" and "grown up ness" of the heavier corrado? Any opinions very welcome. Regards

Why would anyone run the stock size out of choice money being no object? How much more wear does a 68 cause than stock? Or how more often do you have to rebuild charger? Im a bit confused now...I thought generally one would tend to get the charger "flowerd" and bored out to stage 4 say, with a smaller sized pully to match and compliment this to up boost...which has the most affect on boost levels then smaler pulley or charger flowing? I think if I got a G60 I would run the smallest I could get away with if it meant a big increase in performance...or is this a silly approach?

OK thats awesome thanks for the swift replies fully answering my queries :D You say one of the two (g60 or vr6) has a slightly wider track front suspension...which had this and what does it mean exactly? Handle better?

What exactly is expensive about running a VR6? Ive heard that they are very costly to run. Is this mainly referring to that the are not the most economical of cars or that parts go wrong quickly? Did G60s ever come with leather interiors? I only seem to see it on the VRs....any info? What about dash differences and things...id like the seats at the back to be the ones withOUT the armrest if possible. Can rubbing strips be removed easily? Does it leave holes that need filling over? Did G60s or VR6s come with immobilisers as standard? what about alrams? What are the main differences between G60 and VR6 in terms of spec (apart from an extra litres worth capacity engine! etc) Also on the off chance, does anybody know how much roughly, it would be to get a crossflow head put on to a corrado G60 and all necessary bits to run it. Regards for any help.

Sweet rides boys!! Lovely corrado there mate. What is the thing at the top of your dash at the centre looks like a kind of screen thing? Cant quite make it out from the pic. Also, why Im asking this in this thread I dont know but Ive always wondered, what exactly IS and how does the boost return mod BENEFIT the corrado G60? I gather it gets rid of the whine of supercharger and instead sounds more like a woosh of air on lift off? Is this right? Sorry - still learning.

What else can you get from the states then that is cheaper than over here? What charger and engine bits and things that are easy to carry back home - have a mate that may be going out there v soon.

1. At what bhp/lb ft on a Corrado G60 is power becomming un useable and an LSD needed to make swift progress? 2. Does anyone have any idea what a standard Corrado G60 runs a quarter in. I cant find the info anywhere. I can find Corrado VR6 which Ive forgotten...think it may have been 15.1 Cheers

Thats good advice actually. I prefer low down torque also. But I was just wondering if the 16 valve G60 woul dbe worth the extra tuning possibilities in final output - probably not. Thanks for the help. The other things I wanted help with is all this changing of belts/pullys sizes of them, porting etc... What is a crossflow head? What are the 2ltr G60 conversions like from Stealth? I basically want the most power possible out of the G60 engine. I want reliability though, but dont mind living a little dangerously..... -

Arr no! I DO already have charger, as in I have a normal G60 engine. What I meant was im unsure if I should just mod it, or if it would be worth going for a whole new 16 valve engine instead. Is this KR engine the normal 16 valve GTI engine? If so i am wondering how you put the charger on to it as it isnt the same as a G60 normal engine is it? Is it the err compression or something somebody toold me is not b eright. I just want some general info on modding the G60 engine and also doing a 16 valve G60 engine. -
What a lovely forum ive stumbled across here! Upon reading around some of the help given I can see this is a nice online place for advice and technical info, unlike a lot of the othe rones out there. Since you all seem so knowledgeable with the Corrado engines I was wondering if anyone can shed any light on my corrado. I own a G60 and I love it to bits! I DO NOT want to change to any engine that DOESNT have the G60 charger lets make that clear :wink: BUT...what im after is some advice on 8 valve Vs 16 valve G60 engines. Excuse some of these as I am a newb with charging cars and forced inductsion... Why can one not use the normal 16 valve engines in Corrados to base a 16 valve G60 on? What engines DO people who build 16 valve corrados base their engines on? Is it true that running 16 valves is dangerous with G60 as they need to be revved very hard to run fast, when the G60 shouldnt be revved over about 6 thousand revs anyway? How do they get away with this? What power gains/benefits otherwise, is there running a 16 valve G60 over an 8 valve? is it worth the hassle? I hear people saying once the G60 8 valve gets to around 200 ish or just over, brake horse power, that this is really where you should stop without having to spend silly amounts that wouldnt be financially worhtwile...is this true? What kind of output can one aim for? I gather there is ways of making the standard charger pull harder by doing something with the pullys and tooth belts? I do not understand this fully. Can someone explain in detail what is gone about in this? What does it mean with stage 1,2,3 and 4 charge rebuild? what is the difference between this and this R1 spec charger someon tells me off that the jabbas sport do? What is a cross floweing head? And porting? Boreing? Im very sorry I dont know mch but I really want to get over 200 brake horse power on my G60. Any advise welcome and simplifying would be great.
