  1. it was a bit tight to get on, but when it did it needed a bit of adjustment...
  2. just managed to get a 725 on, it was a touch tight...
  3. afternoon...so i managed to change tha pas belt, but its now screeching like a bugger again, very little tension in the belt, at the mo' i've got a 'conti-sf 11.5*730 La LoN on there...is this correct...its a 1990 1.8 16v...oh, and i've a small reservoir in the drivers footwell.. HELP!!!
  4. ok...pas belt off...is there a knack of getting a belt thats *just* too small on? is there a way of levering it on?
  5. ok...sorry to bore you all...i'm about to try and change my pas and alternator belts...i assume the pas belt has to come off first, but i cant de-tension the damn belt, how many screws are there, i've undone two so far...has anyone any pics...its a 1989/90 1.8 16v...
  6. sorry zippy, you've lost me... anyway, after reading on here last night abou heater matrixes and stuff..i topped up with water, turned the heater settings down to cold and turned on engine, left running for a while then turned on heater and upped the temp, lo and behold a whining noise...i'm now worried...
  7. ok...apart from my pas belt and fan belt are squealing like a stuck pig...there's a bigger problem, i top up my radiator and all is well, drive round for a bit and the warning light starts flashing, there's no visible signs of leaks under the car yet this evening i discovered the carpet in the drivers footwell is wet through, has anyone else experienced this?
  8. aaargh....so i'm trying to change the oil and i've got the sump nut turning but the damn thing isn't unscrewing...any ideas? cheers

  10. ok...got car back today...yay! but at the mo' its running a bit sluggish, i'm hoping that its just the old fuel working its way through the system, so i've topped it up with fresh stuff and some injector cleaner type stuff...oh, and the central locking is playing up..but apart from that my baby's back...
  11. ok...work done for mot, parts came to £300, labour about the same...i'm quite pleased..my next question is this, the car has an immobiliser and alarm fitted but no paperwork to say what kind they are, i've been onto vw and they were unable to help...is there anyone who can classify them for me...? thanks...
  12. tbh, i've no idea, but it started not kicking in, the problem is the car is in the garage and i'm miles away at work, and he still can't find the wheel nut and is trying to force it as i type...
  13. i honestly don't know, but it'd been playing up for some time before, so i guess a replacement is probably for the best, he also can't find my wheel nut thingy...joy!
  14. ok...as well as a few hoses etc...i need a new radiator fan..is there a generic fan for corrados or does it have to be one specific for the 1.8 16v? and if anyone has one could they let me know please...thanks...
  15. ok...new battery, fresh juice...started no problem...brakes hadn't siezed...it goes in monday for an mot and a service...

  17. ok, hopefully this is in the correct section... i own a 1990 G reg 16v, which has been sat, motionless in my garage for 2.5 years, and i want to get it back on the road...my first question is, is there anything i need to do before turning the engine and secondly are there any mechanics in the north west (blackburn area) that anyone can recommend... thanks sam
