  1. Yup the 16vG60 is by far the most documented (but they use the G60 block). I also read about someone using a lysholm charger

    Edit: just found it

Anyone ever use something like a newer Rotrex? (guess you would have to fab your own bracketery)

  2. Hi,

Anyone got some spare lock tumblers? Ideally taken from a broken or missmatched set of door handles?

I need to retumble one of my locks but have no spare tumblers to swap over.

Also looking for the rubber gasket seal along the front leading edge of the bonnet (I have an actual ad in the "wanted" section if you need to know what im after).

    thanks!

  3. Wow, this is turning out to be an awesome turnout. One thing I have been thinking about recently is getting someone to help find that odd squeek and rattle in the cablin. I am sure you have all been driving about and "that" annoying squeek comes up. Problem is you cant figure out where the hell it comes from as you need to really be in the back seat (they all come from the back in my car!). Soo... can we organise a "de-squeeking" squad for when we are all at Stealth - people can jump in the back of the car and identify where the damn noises are coming from as the car is being driven?

May also help pass some time as everyone waits their turn for the rollers!

  4. No sorry not this time.

as usual, this is awesome work. Can you simply provide the cardboard cutting (or a copy of it?) so people can try and re-create it themselves from some sheet metal?

maybe get people to donate to CF forum as way of compensation? :)

I fully appreciate it takes ages to work all this out and get it working just right, so if it isnt possible then no worries.

    cheers

  5. I have a set of fully refurbished solitudes with brand new (0 mile) Hankook Ventus V12 Evo rubber on them (195/50/15). Wheels have never been on the car after the refurb and were also waxed to seal them and make them easier to keep clean. They also come with new genuine vw/bbs (carbon fibre) centre caps bought from TPS.

the wheels are finished in "black chrome" not the usual silver the OEM wheels came in.

The hankooks set me back £170 (can provide receipt) and obviously fitting and balancing was extra on top of this. The wheel refurbishing was £160. Let me know what you want to offer me for them if you are interested. I am also based near Heathrow (W.London) if that helps.

    cheers

  6. is the original OEM headlight loom plug still intact? If so, grab some H4 bulbs and put them back into the headlights and then connect the original loom into the unit (basically bypassing the HID ballasts, bulbs and any other non-standard wiring)

If that all works then you can narrow it down to faulty ballasts or other wiring.

  7. Got this in the post yesterday... Can't WAIT to change mine over...

took me about 30 seconds trying to figure out why on earth you had bananas come through the post.... then scrolled down and realised they were the seat bolsters! I should bloody know as well - i got a new one sitting in the garage waiting to go onto my driver seat.

good job getting the car back on the road mate. As for the big bits of metal - are you 100% sure they are metal... lumps that big would make me wonder how the car is still running. Get a magnet on them to see. Also as mentioned, try and get one of the magnetic sump plugs, i have an ECS one

  8. Its running a 20VT, with aftermarket ECU. I was going to butcher it and shoehorn it into my mk1 gti, but after putting my "Saved For Best" BBS RM's on, it looks real trick and fat. My poor mk1 will have to do with a ported, cammed, carb'd 9A, which was my intention anyway especially as i already have the set up for it. So i dont feel so bad now. As far as being sensible, never occured to me how to be,lol. My wife is awsome on my projects, never moans or comes out with, Oh God Not Another One, just thats nice, What Is It,LOL.

can we clone your wife please!

  9. Well im off for 2 weeks from work so ive got loads of jobs to do to the corrado while im off.

Today ive fitted my new aerial base and ive given the headlining a really good clean, 3 buckets of black water im hoping for no water marks when it dries fingers crossed anyway.

Tomorrow im planning on either pulling out all the seat and cleaning all the carpets with a VAX and then treating the leather OR im going to install my brand new fogs and indicators that have been sitting in the wardrobe for a while now. Quick question though i bought some LAMIN-X a while ago to put on the fogs and indicators to protect against the pesky stone chips but is it worth the hassle of putting it on or should i just plonk them on??

Pics when i can be arsed as usual lol

i just did lamin-x on my new fogs and headlights - well worth it in my opinion and adds that extra layer of protection. Just a little fiddly getting the corners done

any further details of where you got the steering wheel retrimmed from - looks good and the perforated bit would go with the rest of my interior (redone in perforated alcantara)

    cheers
