  1. 93 VR6, a mate had to do exactly the same recently for his 96 Storm. If i am going to have to replace it I may as well looking to replace it with something decent.
  2. Hi guys, I haven't posted in a while, touch wood the C has been running pretty good for the past few years. However, after a service and MOT, the mechanic said that I would have to replace the exhaust centre box (corroded) and rear pipe, he said it was a two part piece. I'm just looking for your opinions and suggestions on where and what type of exhaust I should replace with as the mechanic is happy for me to supply the parts. Look forward to the replies. Cheers Ray

    What's this?

Thanks guys. I've had a look at the alarm sensors and they are all where they are supposed to be, i'm thinking it might be a redundant sensor from possibly the factory fitted alarm. The alarm i've got now is, i think an after market Toad alarm.

    What's this?

Initially, that is what i thought, alarm sensor, but the active rear spoiler stopped working after i found it. So not sure if this is coincidence or relates to the spoiler function? FYI, went to a so called German Car Specialist and they didn't know the VR6 had active spoilers!

2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf27072008012.jpg[/attachment:uodzwtth]Hello, Does anybody know what this is (See pic), presume it is a sensor? It was hanging down from the fuse box, i managed to thread it back up by removing part of the dash but cannot see an obvious place it sits. If anyone knows what or where it goes i would be greatly appreciative. Cheers Ray

    Radiator

Thanks for that. However, I have a VR6 and it has two fan attachments. Were Euro Car Parts any good?

    Radiator

Hi guys, I've somehow managed to catch a stone chip in my radiator and now its pissing fluid at hi presures. I've had a temporary fix but just means i can't go very far. So my question is, does anyone know where i can pick up a cheapish rad, i've already checked GSF and Euro Carparts and has anyone had to swap a rad before? Cheers Ray

    HT Leads

Hi guys, Touch wood haven't had any problems with the C, but its due for a service soon and i'm gonna try to do as much as i can myself. Just wanted to get people's opinion on where i should get my parts from, GSF or Eurocarparts? Any opinions would be a great help. Cheers Ray

    Sparkplugs

OK, looks like i will stick with the standard plugs as apart from looks there appears to be no concernible difference. Cheers for the response

    Sparkplugs

93 VR6 Had a look at spark-plugs.co.uk, got a choice of standard plugs at £3 or the iridiums for £8.

    Sparkplugs

Am going to soon replace my sparkplugs, is anyone using iridium sparks? German car specialists wanted to charge £25 per plug!!! For anyone whois using them, do you see any difference? Apart from the fact that they are £5 more than the standard sparks. Response much appreciated. Cheers Ray

    Power steering

A nice easy one. Need to top up my power steering fluid, is there any products you would recommend. I have bought some STP Power Steering fluid, just wanted to know if you guys use anything special. Regards Ray
  15. I previously posted a query about the active rear spoiler and a sensor which is hanging from my fuse box. Had a look today to see where to reconnect the sensor but all I found was a bunch of wires. I've unscrewed some of the screws to release the fitting but looks like I would have to remove the whole unit under the steering column to get the where I presume the sensor should go. Am I making this too difficult for myself, is there any easy way to reconnect the sensor? Ray

    Optimum fuel

Just like to say thanks for all your comments. Cheers Ray
  17. Cheers. The wire is grey. Will have a look when the sun is out.
  18. Just been reading the comments on the rear spoiler, not a major problem but just annoying that the rear spoiler has suddenly stopped working. Had the VR cleaned inside and they must have knocked something loose because I found a wire hanging from the fuse box area with a sensor attached to it. I thought it was the alarm, but now thinking it has something to do with the spoiler. The spoiler works manually from the steering column but not automatically. Going to check a couple of this which were previously mentioned but does anyone know where this wire/sensor has come from. :D Cheers Ray

    Optimum fuel

Anybody running their VR on Shell Optimax? Have been told that there is a difference in performance not just cost!! Also can anyone recommend what brand of engine oil to use to keep the motor sweet. Cheers Ray

    steamy windows

You'll know whether or not if it is the heater matrix because the steam on the windscreen will be greasy because effectively it is coolant that is condensing on your windscreen. It use to happen in my golf all time that is because I had a leak somewhere and moisture was getting in the car so on a hot day it would condense and fog up my windscreen.

    temp gauge

Is the car overheating? I had a similar problem and VW found that it was an electrical fault. Ended up changing the temp gauge and the electrical plug which plugs into the engine block.

    Wet floor

Cheers guys for the help. Reckon it is the heater matrix since my windscreen fogged up with what I presume to coolant, has happened twice now so am guessing that is the root of it. Now that I know that radweld should not be used with Vr's I think I will be having a stern word with VW. Is it recommended anywhere that radweld should not be used other than on this forum? Need ammunition!!!! :D

    Wet floor

Just a quick question to one and all. Just had my C in the garage for overheating problems, had the electrics redone in the process since the VW dealer said the car wasn't overheating  Now had the car back and it blew steam on the windscreen, heater matrix problem I think, think someone else had the same problem. VW put rad weld in a tested it, they thought it was ok. Got it back and found that my coolant tank was empty, but I had a very wet floor!!! Is this a sign that I need a new heater matrix or is it something more sinster?
  24. I presume it would be through a VW main dealer. However, I have just done a quick search for it on the web and this may help: http://www.pricelook.co.uk/auction-vw_cd.html Has everyone gone Bo'selecta mad?!!! Shazaam!!!!!
  25. I take it ETKA is a manual of some sort?? What about Haynes, are they any good?
