  1. Has anybody on here had a go at refurbing splits themselves? Been having a look on lots of the usual sites (wheel whores etc) and opinion seems quite divided as to the amount of hassle they are. I've split up my ZW1s and am tempted to have a go at polishing the dishes myself but a couple are quite badly kerbed and have a couple of minor dents... Basically I'd like to ask anyone who has had a go themselves - Is it worth having a go myself or is it just a colossal pain in the arse in your experience?
  2. Don't worry, the fit is good once it's on (no knocking etc), the problem is really that Jetex ship the same exhaust for the VR6 as they do the valver and give you some extra pipes and connectors with the system so it can fit on both models. Seen as it's not solely for the VR6 it makes the initial fitting a bit of a pain. You should be fine though. I went for the silenced system too, totally agree about the induction noise being more important! Also mine pops and bangs a little on the overrun when it's warmed up. Makes me smile every time  Cheers for the caps link, pretty big coincidence seen as I was just about to order some gold bolts off the same seller on ebay.de! hadn't realised he stocked caps as well. :salute:
  3. Can I ask which seller you got the RH caps from? After a set myself. I Reckon you'll be well happy with the Jetex - I got the same system fitted about 3 weeks ago, really happy with it, quieter than the standard system (!) when cruising on the motorway but nice deep growl when you're booting it. Though the bloke who fitted it said it was a bit of a bastard to fit... Did you get the resonated system or the one with the straight through box?
  4. I have the exact same thing occurring on mine, but it's more serious because I am invariably caught in traffic every morning on the way to work and in my case the revs drop too far when I disengage the clutch when coming to a stop in traffic and it stalls (though obviously the cluth is down at this point so I can just quickly restart it before engaging first again, but it is a pain in the arse). Hopefully this might be the cause of my problem also. Is there any chance it could be the ecu though?
  5. Managed to find it (swinging around near the splitter!) but was wondering if this is the right replacement from GSF?: 93494A TEMP.SENSOR-2 PIN BLUE CO VR6 8/91 > 2 Pin Blue 7.25
  6. Zak where abouts did you get the leather handbrake handle? Looks smart
  7. Why is it that when it comes to corrados 'easy job' becomes an oxymoron?! Cheers anyway guys!
  8. Is the scuttle panel bonded to the windscreen as well as being screwed and clipped down? Been trying to remove it but I'm a bit worried about snapping it if I apply any more force to it...
  9. Where is the temperature sensor located that provides the external temp to the trip computer on a VR6?
  10. So for a rebuild everything is pretty much interchangeable?
  11. How similar are the 2.9 ABVs to the 2.8 AAAs out of the mk3 golfs? Is the bottom end identical? Did the golf run OBD1 for the same period as the corrado?
  12. 'i have a few more wheels i want to run before i put the rs's back on next summer' I swear you've had more wheels than I've had hot dinners!
  13. Ha, are you biased per chance? Hehehe I plan on getting some 16's for it once I get rid of the crappy speedtech zorst - I've had those RH's on there for 6-7 years now, time for a change I think. Yeah can understand that, quite a while to keep one set on there! I reckon 16s are harder to make look 'right' though, either gotta go really wide and low or keep a very OEM+ look on 16s imo. Also surprising how much ground clearance you lose if you're running it low on 16s rather than 17s, worth bearing in mind if there's any speedhumps nearby
  14. Nice looking car mate, feeling the colour and wheels
  15. Mate, just gotta say your car is consistently amazing! Been following it from the beginning and it's by far my fav on the forum. You have a spooky tendency to share my exact taste in wheels, my top 3 being the ZW1s, RCs and CHs. In fact it was thanks to your original pics that I ended up choosing ZW1s for my own rado. And props for sticking to the OEM+ style, exactly the way I think Corrados should be (though personally I think losing the bump strips is the way forward - left mine off after the respray). Anyway, keep on putting pics up as you go through your next few sets of wheels, gives me a good reference guide for my future choices!
  16. Been following this car for a while, ever since I saw it with the Audi rims on. Looked great then, but gets better and better as time goes on. The current wheels just look class!
  17. Really, never knew that! Which models?
  18. Ouch, gotta love those VW parts prices
  19. What just for the glass or the whole mirror?
  20. :D :D :D Not really after stick on ones tbh...
  21. Just a local bodyshop, the bloke who did it had also done some work on my Dad's Daimler which you can just see next to my car in one of the pics. Was £2100 all in when it was done.
  22. It's been 9 months since I last posted some pics (I've moved house in that time!) but I've finally got round to taking some new ones with the new wheels on. They're the second set of wheels I've purchased this year but the first to make it onto the car (indecision is a dangerous thing!). I'm not pushing the boundaries with rim choice I know, but they do give the car such a timeless look imo... Want to try and get some decent pics as soon as it stops pi*sing it down outside, but for now these phone camera ones will do. It's also worth mentioning that as well as obviously being pleased with the look of the car the handling and ride also feel a hell of a lot better with the new tyres on which is pretty surprising considering I went from 15s to 17s. Guess it just shows quite how badly crap rubber can detract from the car!
