Is it still available to your knowledge? Had a quick look on the web and it seems they are no longer in production

RS VR6 - is that eyebrow spoiler separate from the grill or built into it?
-
Why not get a VAG colour but with a different tint in to make it stand out? I've just had mine resprayed in aqua blue pearl but as the body shop mixed the colour themselves (I think most do anyway?) it seems to have a hint more purple in it than usual and can even look kind of blackberry-esque in the light
-
I've just got one of the FK grills from Rennsport put on the car and while it was in for a respray had the VR6 badge taken off the rear and the Corrado and VW badges colour coded with the body. I'm very happy with the rear but not sure about the front grill yet. Might have to get a VR6 badge for the front but spray it black to go with the grill I reckon

A good respray isn't cheap unless you've got some really good mates in the trade! Following my 'off' a few weeks ago the 'rado is in having all the dents pulled out, the interior panels waxoiled and a full respray in the original aqua blue pearl all for £2100 and that's cheap for the all work being done. At the end of the day a really cheap (and hence not very well done) respray just isn't worth bothering with. The company my Dad used to work for had a Bentley resprayed 'cheap' and you could see the primer through the (very thin) layers of paint... not good!

How come?! They looked lovely!
-
Yeah that's what I'm trying to do - avoid messing around with the arches unless really necessary. What offset are you running? Whats it like on full lock, over speedhumps etc? Sorry for the interogation! :)
-
Not wanting to sound stupid but how do you lock the car
-
Have you had the arches pulled/rolled? Whats the clearance like?
-
Cheers for the ideas all. Am I right in thinking only the rear arches can be rolled as the fronts have the plastic guard inside? Also are the passat handles a stright swap (as in no cutting of the door needed?)
-
Right, following my little 'off' a month or so ago the rado is finally in the spray shop having the dents removed and a full respray in the original aqua blue pearl, but I'm toying with a few other ideas whilst it's there. Subtlety is key, so I'm thinking of leaving the side dent strips off and debadging and filling it at the rear, possibly also removing and filling the side repeaters. Any other ideas while I'm at it? (Not including welding across the numerplate recess!)
-
Yeah cheers they're the ones. Really suit the rado imo

Luckily I walked away without a bruise, was pretty impressed by ability of the seats to hold me in the accident actually (on a positive note!). The stupid thing is the rado is only valued at £2000 on the policy because I managed to buy it very cheap and stupidly I just told them the price I paid for it when taking out the policy, whereas the true figure it was worth was probably £3000-3500, but in their eyes any claim over £2000 would make it a write off. You live and learn I suppose...

...possibly the most gutting thing I have ever done in my life. Went round a wet right hander with a dodgy camber on a country lane yesterday (a mate rolled a car there a few years back so I should have known it was a threat), got some lovely lift off oversteer as I tried to correct the car aquaplaning, managed to do a 360 across the road into a hedge but clipped both sides of the car on the way round so it looks like someone's been at it from all sides. From the outside it looks repairable (need to get it on a ramp and check), but it's one of those instances where the bodywork will probably be a good £1500 perhaps more, whilst my excess as a young driver is £900 so it's still not worth claiming off the insurance. Also not highly amused that my £1200 worth of suspension work was only finished about 2 weeks ago and is possibly not quite as KW intended now :( :( :(
-
Yeah I've only ever seen them on a rado in a tiny photo from a show report in a mag, there were on a black corrado. I reckon they look better than the similar 6 spoke TT alloys though

by the way I mean this style:

If so could you post some pics please, my wheel choice dilemma continues... :)

As everyone's said, to be honest it's all a bit bollocks anyway. The bottom line is we can all relax with that smug feeling that we own a corrado rather than a corsa, fiesta, pug etc etc no matter how fast it is! It's very telling when, as happened to me the other day when I got beaten by my mate's aforementioned Celica GT4, people turn around and say, "yeah it's quicker, but I'd rather have the 'rado." Nuff said!

@ jonnyboyo: yeah, limited to 7500 miles a year, but don't do any more than that anyway. Concerning the Ultima, there are a few different variants (GTR, Can Am etc), and being a car that you can build yourself it is obviously down to the owner as to the final engine spec. But, the Ultima GTR640 has a bhp/ton of 666 and evo magazine reckons they do 0-100 in 5.5 secs, so I would guess it's fair to say no Corrado is gonna be capable of keeping up with one of them!

  jeeeezus!! How old is he.......12!!!!! I was only paying £575 for the year, fully comp with protected no claims on mine. Then thats what you get being a 33yr old(ie) 21, that's the problem. Same age as me, though I've managed to wangle the VR on classic car insurance for a grand fully comp, makes quite a bit of difference! Apparently it's because he has to see out an existing policy, and after that it drops to the bargain price of £1400 a year third party
-
indeed!
-
Interesting that there was only 49 autos, I swear I've seen about 10 for sale in the past 6 months or so
-
My mate's JDM (255bhp) Celica GT4, though I take solace in the fact that he only bought it to try and beat the VR, plus the fact that he's paying £700 for FOUR months third party insurance (I kid you not!)
-
Taking that as a rough guide then perhaps there were 4,000 or so VR6s that entered the UK. My guess would be half that number are now on the roads (using my very scientific Columbo-style hunch!). Though the only thing I would say with club figures is that arguably it is more likely a VR6 owner would join a club thanks to the car's new 'classic' status than say someone who buys a 1.8 as a cheap runaround (apologies to all non-VR6 owners if that sounds a bit snooty, it's not intended!)

Ha ha tell me about it. I tried ringing the DVLA to get the serial number of the previous owner's documents to complete an HPI check, spent about 10 mins waiting on the phone then got through to possibly the most miserable and rudest women I've ever spoken to who bluntly told me: "We don't give any details to anyone" lol. But yeah I would guess there would be more chance of success going through VW, definitely worth a go.
