Top man - thanks for the info & link. Looks like 225/45 is a no in that case. Cheers, Mark :thumbleft:

    RX fitment

Hi All Has anyone run anything like the following on a late vr, and was there any clearance issues? BBS RX - 17 * 7.5 with 225/45 rubber & et35 (I think this is the et anyway). I have done the search which is great for 16's but I could not find anything conclussive re. 17's with 225 rubber. Car is stnd ride height but may go for a lowering of 35mm in the future. Thanks for any help, Mark

    severe dampness!

Sorry for thread hijack...........but in the search people tend to mention passanger side. Can the Foiliage cover seal affect the drivers side more as this is the damp side on my car? (I dont hink its the door card seal as its not getting over the rubber lip, but I guess it could be the accelerator gromet jobby). Ta.

    S3 Avus Rims

Hi All Does anyone on here have 17" S3 avus rims fitted? If so, can you tell me the ET? I guess they should fit Ok with 205/40 tyres (40mm lowered) but thought I would check. Happy xmas, Mark
  7. Mk2 GTI S3 Mk1 Driver S3 Mk3 VR Pug 106 ( ) Mk4 GTI Rado VR (still got) Mk1 GTI (still got)
  8. My other car - probably most fun dub I will ever own!
  9. Got to agree with RobMarriott. Get a good Mk1 and mod it up and its a much more raw experience than the rado. I love the C but the mk1 will always get pride of place, but I couldnt realy advise anyone to run one as daily transport (more of a project / weekend car IMO). Unbeleivably quick with a 20vt and they are very good round corners with uprated suspension. I would say keep the C as a first car as its a great alrounder 8)
  10. As above reply. I swapped a mk4 gti turbo for a vr6 as i got bored with the mk4 very quickly and couldnt be bothered to mod it either. The vr has so much more soul with its v6 and communicative handlng. I may get flamed for this, but I actually prefer it as a smile per mile car to either of my old S3's (although they are great cars), but be prepared to have to pamper them as bits go wrong. Look carefully as there is a lot of tat as well. Oh, and I wouldnt buy one if your doing mucho miles! Good luck 8)
  11. Interesting read for me as I have never got old golfs out of my system and have ended up owning both. Out of all the quick dubs Ive owned (including a couple of S3's) I would say my favourite day to day car is the rado v6 as its so well balanced, sounds great and quite rare. I have a mk1 20vt as well but there is no way I would like to run this as an everyday car even though its more fun (in a rough and ready, tin can kinda way) and much faster. I'd keep the rado and put a project car in the garage if you can as its the best of both worlds. 8)

Thanks - having trouble with imageshack but will get some pics up soon, cheers Mark
  13. Just saying hello :thumbleft: I own a Rado VR - standard except for CDA & Scorpion exhaust & a MK1 20vt. Hoping to get some good info about modding the VR from here but in the meantime - nice to meet you all.
