  3. Hi all just tried to fit my spare, low and behold it doesnt fit. Should my spare be a space saver, an alloy. cheers ste
  4. hello all since day one ive had a knocking noise under acceleration ,ive changed wheel bearings, had the gearbox refurbed, fitted a new passenger side driveshaft and now im fitting a drivers side drive shaft, here comes the snag, the shaft fitted to my car is an inch longer than the new one that has arrived. Can someone tell me the length of a drivers side shaft for a 1.8 16v 90 rado? Also the new one has no balancing weight, or maybe that my this indicates the old shaft being wrong. And also the inside of the drive flange (gearbox flange) has deep score marks inside as if the old shaft has worn into it (another sign of the wrong size shaft?) cheers in advance folks.
  5. Thanks for the info. Check it 2morro, custard (what the family has named by corrado) is having its driveshafts checked by the local mech. ste
  6. The hub nut tight, i checked that. ive been quoted £78 for a new shaft (reconditioned) might just get that fitted and see what happens. Thanks for the response so far.
  7. In and out, rotationally they seem ok. if i push the shaft into the wheel CV it knocks against something. Thanks
  8. Hi all I have a dodgy MFA, every couple of days the stored values mpg, clock, trip etc reset them selves to zero. I read it could be down to tampering but my corrado has a full history with all of its MOTS stating the 107k to believed genuine. What genuine faults could there be? Thanks all
  9. Hi all Well as days go on my first week of corrado ownership has been a busy one! My latest (and most worring trouble) is a knocking noise under acceleration, Ive had wheel bearings replaced and its still there. I had another crawl under the car and i notice i have side to side play on my OS driveshaft (the skinny one) a good 30-40mm, nd if you shove it it clunks on the wheel side. I disconnected the gearbox end but couldnt get the shaft down to check it. Can someone check if this amount of side to side movement is normal for me please? Thanks all
  10. Thanks for the advice. Turned out to be a 3pin connector on the distributor. Plastic had become brittle and the wiring was half in / half out. Any idea if i can get a new connector? Post some pics soon. cheers
  11. Hi all Just bought a 91 1.8 16v today, driving home i notice a few problems. -temp sits at 90ish in town (like my golf) and seems ok. Ran up motorway and the temp dropped off the meter (oil still 90-100), got off motorway and temp came back up. is this normal? (golf never budges off 90 no matter where i drive) -high idle- my ide rises when the above happens. -rough / jerky revving, while cruising around the revs jerk / search around between 3-4k revs. Thanks in advance, ive searched and read thro the forum but cant put my finger on a problem.
