I have an N reg 2.0lt 8v and have recorded average of just over 34 mpg since i had the car. I do lots of small journey around town with occasional long runs. Have seen 50mpg on run for car that has 130K on clock and does not use oil at is smooth and quite well impressed. Was going to change for diesel A3 or golf but with fuel prices as they are will stick with what ive got Geoff

Hi agree with all above i picked up a virtual one owner car N plate in Blackberry ithink the colour is( last guy only had it for 6 months as interim after his M3 was stolen) Had done 117K full history. Now at 128K runs like a dream. Average since i have had it at 34mpg , can get up to 50 on long motorway run. Everything works uses no oil and no rattles very impressed. My son had 16v a few years ago i like the low down torque of the 8v and as car is used as a family run around its superb. Well worth looking at ( dont have the large wheels on now have early set of Corrado alloys that i prefer) Good luck with the search Geoff DSCN1084.JPG[/attachment:1ybkqkee]

Can recommend Daves replacement for this well made and a lot stronger than the original ! Wont happen again :D -
Sounds like the damper is part of the NVH pack and may only be for refinement, i would be inclined to add the mounting on. May not only be column vibration its looking after. Geoff

Hi Hope someone can help, mate of mine lives in Bideford has just been quoted £80parts plus £120 fitting for front top mounts( on Audi 80 ). G&S list these as £6.25 each i think his garage knows he is not mechanically minded and is ripping him off. Hence any good honest mechanics in area that can be recommended Thanks for any help Geoff

Think those wheels look stunning!

I would check that it is a orbital polisher. If straight forward polisher will need to be careful in use otherwise can easily burn paint. Mequires have recently brought out an orbital polisher its £150, expensive but good . I have one and am impressed with it Geoff

Rebuilt offside today when VW finally got new bolts. Took offside apart in about 15 mins could not believe how it all came apart so easy. That done just the service and clean now Geoff

Hi its the 2.0lt, The bolts have come out one side rebuilding today. Did require angle grinding off the wishbone and splitting the bush collar.Even then took two of us and large stillsons to get the horizontal bolt out. Debating at moment wether to sell as have just been offered another 944 Thanks Geoff

Thanks for the colour update, yes reason bought it the bodywork is excellent with no rust. Just had to treat two stonechips that had been left on side. Will get correct touch up now.Interior is cloth with no wear at all. Probably too good for what i use it for but nice to drive. Quite surprised how much torque the 8v engine is. My son had a 16v and you seemed to have to work that a lot harder. When i get it cleaned up will post some more pics Thanks for help Geoff

Hi will try to post pics, picked up this as a four seat runabout for the family as our other cars are strictly 2 seaters N Plate in purple( I am sure someone knows the colour). Virtually one owner , full history all electrics work. Now done 125K and as sweet as a nut. Uses no oil at all. Have changed wheels from 17inch in picture to the mk1 type as i prefered the handling/ride. (picked up mint set of mk 1 alloys from ebay) Just in process of putting new wishbones on ( what a job, horizontal bolt siezed)2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSCN1084.JPG[/attachment:10y1kb7f] Next project if i ever get round to it, otherwise sell on for what i paid (£650)DSCN1081.JPG[/attachment:10y1kb7f] Regards all and thanks for help so far Geoff

Thanks , will not fit, yes have ramp but no air tools im afraid. No dont have members gallery thread what is this? Thanks for the quick reply, as said car is just the family run around, might change as expensive to put my son on (for when i need my company car back off him!!)

Interseting both the wishbone have taken off and the new one have bonded bushes but was supplied the tubes with the new one. Both ID's look the same on the bush should i fit ?
-
Well decided to start changing lower wishbones. Dreaded vertical bolt came out no problems , horizontal one ( behind sump) an absolute ba*******d. Ended up angle grinding through wishbone, splitting around bush and pealing off rubber.Centre steel bush corroded onto bolt.Angle grinder and dremel got spacer off. Bolt stll a b******r to remove but out without stripping threads or breaking bolt. Just need to visit VW tomorrow to get new bolts, then i can start the other side.Spent rest of day cleaning and painting calipers Just to think we only bought this for a family run around the joys of the Corrado. By the way anyone else found the tube missing around the vertical bolt when they stripped down? this has full VW history and has covered 125K so someones not been doing the job correctly

If i remember correct , remove door trim, unclip the wire down inside of door and should be connection block(push in) near the bottom of the door. Remember to re clip the wire in door top prevent trapping in lock /window mechanism

I live in Rugby have a 2.0 8V on N plate. In Hillmorton area there is a blue VR6 a blue valver and keep seeing white H reg on the Leicester Road so some about
-
Not done them on Corrado but i have used two methods. If they are not stuck in too hard attach foot pump and blow out with air ( could use airline but watch how fast they come out!). If really stuck attach grease gun to caliper and push out with grease. Will need to clean well afterwards though Good luck

I have just bought complete new wishbones from G&S for about £20/side . These include new front and rear bushes so bargain i feel. Incidently are made by Lemforder who supply all the Jag suspension frames Just got to put them on now. 8) P.S dont forget you need new expansion tubes for the rear bush thes are about £0.20 each

someone reversed into my parked car n drove off....
Geoffb replied to -Neil-'s topic in General Car Chat
Contact Police they should get owners details. Put to insurance , guess they will not take action.Look at costs and if needed take out a small claims. I witnessed the same recently and went to court to give statement.Judge found in favour and awarded all costs.Worth the rtrouble trust all of you would do the same. Anyone who damages and drives off without leaving details wants ######.Good luck -
So how old do you have to be to look a 'little silly'....
Geoffb replied to Leonard's topic in General Car Chat
Well, your never too old i am in my early 50's and bought one as a daily driver. I have always liked them since my son had a 16v when he was 20, been into VW's for as long as i can remember. Now retired enjoy the car as an unusual fun car
