  1. well as you might of read in the drivetrain forum my calipers are just wrong. so im on with ordering some golf 3 ones now! then i can get this 288mm upgrade sorted! and get some decent brakes finally!
  2. Gonna get some golf 3 calipers. The sharan calipers needed a 1.5mm washer behind each bolt of the carrier to space it enough, The ONLY advantage to em is that you can use standard corrado hoses but they just dont work. I rekon if you fitted the sharan master cylinder and a manual bias control valve it would work... or just buy golf calipers :) lol
  3. I think i have sussed the problem.... The standard vr calipers have a 53.9mm piston. The mk3 golf ones have a 53.9mm piston. 312 have 53.9mm piston. Do we see something happening here? The sharan ones have a 56.9mm piston. So thats 3mm per side so 6mm in total more piston to push. The corrado master cylinder is 22.2mm and the sharan one is 23.8mm. So the long and short. i fluffed it up! ARSE need to get some golf calipers now!
  4. I work in parts so its not getting the bits but just the spending to find out what if! - Ive knocked it right off all the way to the top so it shouldnt do any braking at the rear unless is paggered inside...
  5. Ive knocked it right off to see if it did anything but it still locks? did yours do the same until fitting a new one? Someone has mentioned maybe needing a new master cylinder but I cant see why it would need it? People running 312mm on standard one so why wont this work. its getting well frustrating! lol!
  6. The abs has NEVER worked properly on this car. Everytime i came for MOT the light was on and they would get the light off and then maybe a month back into driving it would come back on and not go off again till the following year. trying to find out what was wrong was getting tedious to be fair! Its now throwing up. all 4 Abs sensors and engine speed sensor. its got standard size discs and pads on the rear just black diamond upgrades. it didnt do it before with the standard size on the front so all i can think is that the load compensator is jamf inside. o well thatll be another new one of them then. second in 2 years. Im at a loss of what to do with the abs. i dont wanna shell out for 4 sensors but i just dunno where to look. Lad who did it is gonna plug it in when i go back to see him and see if anything different is thrown up. If i can pinpoint one thing being wrong then ill change it. Im not arguing that it needs fixing but its an expensive game to be chasing a lost lead....
  7. there is a similar set on a mk2 golf gti at upullit in york.... or was last weekend!
  8. anyone. any ideas at all? someone must have had this issue before?

  13. its a hard one to get a decent picture of with its width! i have to use my sigma 10-20mm lens and it kinda distorts it! altho i am sooooo tempted to bin off the tropical side of it in this tank and go marine ijn it. im sure it would look stunning but i cant bring myself to get rid of my fish! if i had a mass death i would certainly go marine in there! ---------- Post added at 10:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:07 PM ---------- how long your reef setup been going? you got any pics of it? im on http://www.fishforum.net but sometimes there a bit anal so i dont post often for fear of being shouted at.
  14. i used 25mm to start with on the branches, then went onto the 50mm on the rest. wish i had stuck with 50mm all the way but it takes alot more of it than you think!
  15. Thread Revival! Hows Everyones tanks going!? I have no got 4 tanks. altho they have grown larger than before.. The African Cichlids have moved home into a 125L tank in the living room. I still have the 3ft one in my bedroom. I took possesion of a 5x2x2 460L Tank which is in the place of the african cichlids old tank and i got a 15L mini tank effort in my bedroom aswell. In my bigger bedroom tank is a growing on/small fish tank Currently housing some platties/guppies my 2 small Birchrs a baby green terror couple of rams, small angels 5 congo tetras and some other little bits. The mini tank has some endlers in it. some tiny tiger platties, a male Betta, and just some other little tiny fish. The cichlid tank has had some births and deaths. Currently there is 6 fish in there which were born in there. and then maybe another 20 ish fish that have been bought. The 460L houses my bigger fish :D - My Uraru Cichlid which is about 6-7 Inch, 6 Silver dollars all about 5-6", 2 larger birchrs, 2 parrot fish, some jade eye cichlids some jewel cichlids a red spotted sevrum, my black ghost knife fish which is about 10-12" long now, Common pleco, and some other cichlids and such! its a right beast tho! took ages to fill. I got some pics of em all i will find and post them! ---------- Post added at 09:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:46 PM ---------- This is how i recived the bigger tank. it was in a bit of a state and i bought some lighting for it. an external filter, pair of heaters and sand Untitled by Philuk56, on Flickr This is it filling with water with my black sand in it with my home-made python! Untitled by Philuk56, on Flickr Filled but with just night light on Untitled by Philuk56, on Flickr Filled with fish in it when i first moved them Untitled by Philuk56, on Flickr Then i wasnt happy with the black sand. it just looked too murky and dark so i changed it all to Unipac Tana Sand. 16. will a 10mm spacer on an et 25 not catch the front arch quite alot? like i said before im on 195/45/16 on a 7.5J et 25 and it catches with that?
  17. i took the whole inlet manifold off and everything to get to the top bolts. loads easier for you to get underneath with a lift! tighten them from middle to outside and replace the gasket. Mine is still blowing slightly from the manifold even with a VW Gasket so im thinking of undoing it and putting some gasket paper on the manifold side incase the manifold flat piece isnt perfectly flat.
  18. As if this this long since i put anything up! Changed my front calipers from standard to 288mm but i didnt want to take the easy route! ooo no i went for some sharan calipers instead, So got everything ordered for the car. I didnt look at the hoses on the calipers and it turns out that they are screw in fitment like standard corrado stuff! so arse i had to go and find some banjo bolts and copper washers to fit em. Got all the rears done. Started doing the fronts and the copper pipe was paggered. Had to leave it for the night and started on it again the next morning with new copper pipe and everything went on.. but we couldnt get it to bleed properly and the fronts sounded like they were binding to the disc. I gave up and gave it to a friend who is a mobile mechanic who took it to his house and got it all bled up but couldnt work out why it was binding. Turns out the inside of the carrier was just touching the inside of the disc when the wheel was put on so we had to space out the caliper and carrier with some HT 1.5mm washers. soft pedal couldnt get it to bleed so in the end he just started from scratch and bled the entire system thru to get rid of everything. Next problem. Rear is locking up before the front is so after having a search and read on here! i found out we needed to adjust the compensator bias valve. We have done that tonight and the brakes are still a little arse end happy but hopefully the fronts will bed in a bit more and it all should work fine! Other than that im lost!
  19. Right here comes the story. Changed the front calipers to 288's from a sharan and they are a fair size to be fair! got everything fitted, left rears as standard caliper as there fine. Black diamond front and rear discs and fast road pads. Got the car back from my mate who fixed my bleeding issues and it was properly arse happy!. like seriously scary arse happy. Took it back and we knocked the compensator valve right off to stop as much power going to the back as possible. but it still locks the back up before the front. The rear tyres arent awesome and the weather isnt exactly brilliant either but it never did it before with the standard front calipers and knackered discs and pads. The abs doesnt work but hasnt for a while but i was wondering if it was anything to do with this. The only other thing my mechanic friend can think is changing the master cylinder to make the front brakes work harder as such but im not sure this will work? Any Ideas?
  20. right if someone gives me £35 ill take that for em, there just sat at home all lonely and want to be on a car!!
