i realise this topic is about 100 years old. but can anyone confirm the part numbers are correct? thanks also did you buy/fit one in the end
-
i've got into arguments about this before, so i will only state the only reason you need to cut a need a new keyway is if you want to retain the factory timing marks :D as done on my last two valvers I simply rotated the cam and marked a new timing mark - easy peasy, and all as a now picture less vortex thread http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=691425 if you want to do a better job and play with the power band then you can always get an adjustable cam gear, vortex thread recommends 4.5degs advance ok, pics would have helped a little, but what else did you need to do other than that? ive read the thread, and seems to be quite useful. is EVERYTHING else standard? you didnt buy a vernier pulley or anything? (i just read your comment before i post this) thank you and i love you (ish) lol that will really help, and also if it works will throw it in the faces of the people that said it wouldn't. we have plenty of air tools at my mates garage, so will give it a go, after i get the PM :)  :notworthy:

i should have used quote marks for that, i didn't write that, that was copied from some more messages i got given. one thing i did find was, i read that people took the sprockets off and rotated 6 degrees? anyway from what i've been reading, unless someone else can show me otherwise, ill just put the inlet cam from KR in. i would like a full guide of how to use exhaust cam, or i won't try it.

ive just been speaking to some people on other forums about this, here's the info that i collected from different sources: The reason they use the cam over the 9a is: 2L 16V ABF cam specs: Intake - 219deg @ 1mm, 10.8mm max Exhaust - 220 deg @ 1mm, 10.8mm max 1.8L 16V KR cam specs: Intake - 218deg @ 1mm, 9.6mm max Exhaust - 226 deg @1mm, 10.2mm max 9A pre 94 specs Inlet - 8.8mm max Mike "the man in the shed" from Clubgti, in a conversation i found talking of the same subject and also talking about the WUR mod, states: ".....It's a case of making sure. Ideally you need a rolling road session to set this up properly, but it will be worth it to make sure the car is running right. Chances are on any old car, that the fuel pressure isn't at the original factory spec any more, so it's well worth having this done. If everything else is standard on the engine, then with the KR cam and WUR mod you should be around 160 bhp. Mine was at this spec till recently, and it's quick enough to surprise loads of flash, newer cars!!" As someone else on the same thread wrote: (referring to someone that was thinking of using the inlet from the KR, as the inlet for a 9a): ".............Do you also have the exhaust cam? If you do you will get even better gains by using that as an inlet cam with the pulley chopped off." But it's not as simple as just cutting off one end, the keyway needs machining in another place on the chain sprocket end in order for you to get it all timed up again properly. (when using the KR exhaust as the inlet for the 9a). Also for anyone interested (that hasn't swapped cams before then here's a little guide, not by me) http://www.clubgti.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=184663 So as far as i know, the ABF are best option, then the KR, but as someone said, depends what you want to achieve with it. I'm just about to try the Exhaust mod, if i can't do it, then i'll just pop the inlet in.

will go check, thank you didnt think of them

Where do you lot get your 16v manifolds from? I can only seem to find left hand drive ones with no power steering. I obviously need RHD with P/S its the 9a engine thank you in advance

Got one like this (originally from G-Werks) you can have for £20 delivered... id like to go for that please. reply to PM when you can so we can sort it out, thanks

actually just found this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-FRONT-ENGINE-MOUNT-MK2-GOLF-PASSAT-inc-16v-G60-D_W0QQitemZ350212033069QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item518a438a2d&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1689|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50 i realise this will be the worst one available, how much different is this going to be than the VW one? or is it worth spending the extra and getting the solid one in your opinion (this is to anyone)
-
Have VT mounts all round and have notice no difference TBH LOL The above one looks ok, personally I would put a slither of good quality rubber between that mount and the engine mount. Just my opinion tho :D thanks, ok, might give this one a go. needs to be done. mine is shocking

this is completely what i needed to know aswell. the car i just bought will go to 110 degrees if i dont flick this extra fan switch the previous owner has put in. rather worrying. but if leave that fan switch on all the time the water seems to be better. the engine always seems VERY hot, hotter than it should run i swear, even after a small journey the heat coming from it can be seen coming out the bonnet gaps (after few min drive) and very hot to touch. ive had the same engine before in a mk1 and it never got that hot.
-
i just searched the forum for more opinions on mounts, but this was the only listing i could find. whats everyones opinions on this? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-16v-8v-G60-Corrado-front-solid-engine-mount_W0QQitemZ190315893897QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2c4fb61489&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1683|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50 i just bought a car with front gone and would like to replace asap.

open your boot lid and remove the panel that covers the spoiler mech etc, there will be a knob on the back of the spoiler mechanism pull it out gently, not to farr as you dont want to pull it off then you can wind the spoiler down manually using the knob, voila soiler is down! hey, i done it and it works thanks, looks so much better now. now i just need to find some info of where to start looking for faults, so i can get it back to standard working ways again.
-
is there any way of getting it down once its locked in the up position? i have just bought a corrado last night, and the spoiler is always up, dont want to push down on it, from experience, that doesnt do anything any good. at least id like it to stay down
-
lol why not. well found out a min ago insurance on one will only be £600 and im only just 22, which is great. so right on track.
-
ok its just most posts i read people are having it done. well im always looking for a good one. will keep searching. but your saying corrados would be more abused than other cars (depending on the person) as i own a 24 year old golf, just had an engine change, and not going through that again, espeically not with a car im willing to spend lots on money on in the 1st place so it works. ive also done reading and found that the work if needs doing can be another £4000, seems stupid, you'd buy another car with that. well anyway well see how it turns out. ill let you lot know if i find one and what you think of it, but i realise its up to me at the end of it. also thanks for the guide, had a good read through.
