Hi guys, I bought this VR6 on Copart the other day that had a light right front damage. Its a 93 L reg with 195k on the clock in Flame Red. By the looks of things, the car looks like with Toyo tyres all round and has Weitec suspension as well. When i bought the car, i didnt know how much mileage the car has as the battery was flat and there was no way in the bonnet as it was jammed from the crash. A small introduction with a lump hummer and the bonnet released. I then found out that the auxiliary belt had snapped and got caught in the tensioner.
I made a trip to Derby yesterday to pick up some replacement parts and picked up a service kit. I bought a bonnet, driver's wing, slam panel, bumper, headlight and some other little bits. The wing needs painting as well the slam panel but its in purple and its a bit crusty in places so needs sand blasting.
I got started today and first thing on the list was to put the belt on. The old belt had got caught in the tensioner and this is how it looked:
Before it got dark i changed the bonnet, took off the wing and slam panel:
My camera wouldn't flash so i couldnt take any more pics so y plan is to get the front inner arch pulled out, so some painting and get the car upto speed, will keep you all posted.

Just a quick up date, got the VIC test done last weeks so its now ready for the road barring some road tax, but im thinking of selling it no and waiting for something a little more tidier to come along, but not too sure yet so will keep you posted.
-
Well done! Will benice to see it getting better and better.Cheers,
Redfox.
Cheers mate, your car is looking really nice not too sure if i have the patiences like you.
Have a good look underneath the car as co part load every car whether drivable or not with a forklift! They're also good at draining fuel near the tank and not refitting the fuel lines properly!
Nice work
Yeah, i've seen how they handle the cars a bit gun ho like. Bought a few cars from there and fuel is not the only thing they nick. Brian (the MOT tester) always has a good look for me and fortunately this one is a good one.

I have a set for a late interior, debating whether to sell the interior complete or as individual parts...Where are you located?
im based in Manchester, where abouts are you?
-
Car failed its MOT toady, 2 headlight bulbs, number plate bulb and a loose side repeater. Not bad eh, 15 minutes and its ready for the retest. VIC test is booked in next week so its looking good.
-
Early or late ?Sorry, for a late model.
-
Bought an interior last week and it looks like i've been slightly duped. The door cards were cloth ones and the front head rest are from a mk1 golf so i need a full set of black leather door cards and 2 leather headrest if any one has?
-
That's a bargain, looking very good so far :)I hope so, does look alot better.
Nice work! First few pictures made me sad, she looked very sorry for herself - but then cheered up greatly when I saw the stirling work done! :thumbleft:Cheers
Great work and it looks 100% better already. Not much info held by the CCGB. Owner, in the merseyside area, originally joined the club in 2000 and membership lapsed in 2008.
Cheers and thanks for checking for me. I wanted to get in touch with the last owner to see what work he had done to it and if he got the service book. If his membership lapsed i will have to write to him.

yea good job for saveing it, alot of other people have broken corrados for alot less , "the clutch has gone , has a few scratchs, its deffinatley for breaking"something along those lines, such a waste imo..
edit: just seen the updated pics, looking good! and to think someone else would of broken that up!!
Cheers
Great stuff - brilliant to see one saved :salute:Thanks
Well done mate , another saved . Keep up the good work .Cheers
great effort.. certainly wouldnt have gone with a copart bid on seeing that! i think its just the bonnet which makes it look bad. 10/10.It was mainly the bonnet that made it look bad but its turned out alright
Wow. Great effort.Cheers

Back in the game, good workOh yes!
Mind if I ask how much the car itself cost? I'm sure others are wondeirng as well! :)it cost £500 including fees, what do you make of that?

Well after a planned afternoon of getting a load of stuff done, i only managed to get half of it done. The car didnt get MOT'd today but will do on monday but i did get it looking more like a normal car:
Here's the parts i got last night:
And so it starts:
Something has rotted here!!!
And on we go:
And so we start:
And there it is:
Need to get my mate to sort out the alignment and sort some stuff out regarding the body work. The leather interior i got last night didnt come with the proper door cards so i think i need to get in touch with the guy to sort something out.
-
What a sorry sight and well done for saving it! Looking fwd to seeing your progress :)Cheers, will get some pics up later after i have done the front end.
This was a candidate for breaking for sure so well done for rescuing it.Did you get your parts from a guy in Long Eaton breaking a Green VR? I only live 5 mins away and was down there a couple of weeks back.
I know, was contemplating breaking it but i always think cars like this need a second chance, lol. Yeah, the car was based in Long Eaton. Dont know why he broke the car as it still is MOT'd and taxed!!

As i was washing the VR before i left the car running and when i had finished and jumped back in the heaters were blowing hot air. I moved the dial from cold to hot and it made a little difference between temperature, any ideas how to fix this?
-
After getting rid of my 2.0 16v (http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?58039-My-2-0-16v), i was abit gutted as i grew quite fond of it but financial pressure meant i couldn't keep. I was always keeping my eye for something, preferably a VR but could never find one that i liked or that was close enough. Every now and then i go onto Copart to see what is knocking around and found a Green VR6 with 154k on the clock that had a front end hit. It is a Cat C, doesnt bother me just makes it fun trying to find more info for it. I won it on Tuesday and got it back to my office today, here it is:
Looks abit of mess, so gave it a wash and assessed the bodywork better:
As you can see, the bodywork is in need of a bit of TLC. I know a few people who can fix it so will get it MOT'd and VIC test done before i get it booked in for anything. The car used to be on the Corrado Club forum, so i am just awaiting approval for my membership so i can get digging into the car's history.
I drove down to Nottingham tonight to but a new front end, black leather interior and a few other bits and bobs for the car which cost me a total of £800, not bad all in all.
Going to get the front fixed tomorrow and get it in for MOT to see what it needs and go from there. Will keep you posted.

When i picked the car up last weekend, i noticed the temp gauge is always reading wrong. The highest it will go is 70 degrees. The fan kicks in and the heaters are working. I've just changed the temp sensor on the side of the engine under the thermostat housing. I've done a search but nothing on a 2.0 16v, which is what i've got. Any one help? It's annoying me more than anything!!
-
Going to try and clean the ISV tomorrow, is it worth changing the potentiometer? Don't know how i would find out, but which one do i i go for? Also, what is a thermo-time switch and where is it?
-
Sorry to tag On to the thread but I've got the same issue. Just changed the dizzy cap and rota arm and no difference. Also seems abit sluggish through the range, any ideas guys?
-
Theres a guy in Cumbria selling one on eBay if that helps
-
Ive got the lupo gti setup. Blades have seen better days but still better than the standard ones! Give us a shout if you want them.Jim
Cheers, just PM'd
-
I need to upgrade the wipers on my car, has any one got anything that they might want to sell, i.e Lupo GTi or TT setup?
-
Looks nice and there's a good few little jobs for you there to keep you busy it seems!Regarding windscreen wipers, I can highly reccommend either the Lupo or MK1 Audi TT setup. Substantial improvement to the wiping!
Cheers mate, yeah just one or two little niggly things here and there but soon have them sorted.
No one seems to have any wipers, every car i've seen getting broken they've all been sold so i'm going to hold out and see if i get lucky soon.
Had some time yesterday to go to my mates place, Sheldons Manchester (abit of a plug for him, lol) where i've stored some wheels. They are 17" lenso Vintage which i bought for a E30 that i am doing up but i thought i would put them on the rado to see how it turns out. Let you have a look and let me know what you think:
To say i love it is abit of an understatement, since putting them on, they have transformed the car and i get a few more promising looks so it cant be bad at all. me and Si (Sheldon) had a fiddle about with some spacers and managed to get a 20mm spacer on the rear to fill the arches, just contemplating whether to go lower.
After that, i got back and serviced the car with some additives:
The spark plugs looked to be okay:
The oil was dirty and the fuel filter was a pain but it all got done and feel alot better that its been done. It does run a little rough on idle so i am hoping the BG 44K will clear that up.
I've just bought a Toad Ai606 alarm which im hoping to get fitted over the weekend so i dont have to worry about the car as much.
Will keep you posted.

Well, I finally decided to get a Corrado. Didnt really like them before but for some reason i i took a real liking to them. This one i found on Autotrader, rang the guy up on the day he advertised it and put my deposit down, picked it up on Saturday and i love it. And here it is:
When i picked up the car, i was worried that it wouldnt have much power but it pulls really. As you can see its got Black leather seats which i dont think it came from factory as the dash and carpet are in grey. The car came with more than i bargained for which is always good, this is what its got:
K&N Panel Filter
Rage cat-back system
De-cat
Coilovers
In-Pro Angel Eye Headlights
M3 Rear Lights
But like most there are a few faults, heres the fault:
The car has been resprayed at some point and theres overspay on the trim (pictured)
the angel eyes dont work
the exhaust knock on the beam
The temp gauge doesnt read properly
the windscreen wipers are crap
theres a scuff on the driver's rear arch (pictured)
The driver's wing isnt original and was Green before the respray
I got a folder full of receipts but nothing before 2003, and some old MOT's so i'm going to get in touch with VW and the previous owners to see what i can source. The head was done in Jan this year, but nothing about a service within the last year so, so i ordered the bits:
I bought a new rear wiper for a retro flat bkade wiper. I need to find someone with a Lupo GTi conversion or grind down the standard ones, i need to do it soon as possible because i cant see anything over 40mph.
I've ordered some BG 44K fluid pack:
A mate told me about it and i read reivews about it and they all say its amazing so i'm going to give it try.
I've also got some 17" Vintage alloys which im going to put on, i'll get some more pics up tomorrow.

Lol, I've got too many projects on the go but it still keeps me going.
I live in Manchester and went down to the Derby to collect the parts.
Cheers, anything older than 10 years old will get a cat c or d marker on thenm.
Cheers guys.
Sorry in the delay in getting an update over to you guys. I've had a change in working career so its been all over the place lately. I got the front panel sandblasted and it cleared out all the corrosion but the panel wasn't as clean as i first thought but it will do as something to use. I bought new engine mounts but the front was fine as it was a poly bushed but the rear one was goosed and needed replacing.
I gave it a good service, the oil didnt look that old but i thought i would be nice to treat to it to so fresh stuff:
The driver's side fog light had snapped so i manage to take 2 bad ones and make one good one:
Yesterday i managed to get the body puller off my friend and started to hammer, smash and pull the inner wing out. Before it got too dark i managed to get it to a point where it could pass and it all lines up but i need to pull it out abit more as i'm not completely happy:
I've bought a new wing and front panel which are in the same colour so will save some time on paint so will see how they match up when they come.
