Well I think coilovers are out of the question, mainly the cost tbh. Might consider some new aftermarket shocks and springs, I imagine about £2-300 ish for this kind of set-up. I have 16" alloys and I don't believe any work has been done to the arches so what drop would people recommend....30-40mm ?? I have a sneaky feeling its more than 40mm at the moment, if a 30mm or 40mm drop would cut out rubbing and mean no further work then that would be what I would go for.... Lee

Yes I do, when ever I hit something like a bump, or sunken man hole let's say, it is a very harsh bump/jolt. I don't know what the bump stops are or where they are on the suspension.....is it something easily changed or adjusted.... Lee

Drove to ikea other night, some nice smooth (cough) roads on the way. I don't know what it is but Volvo's seem to always pick fights with me lol, was on the outside lane coming around a corner and he started really giving it some, I was only doing 35 so stuck the boot down and really had to max her out to get in front, tbh only reason I entertained him was because I was scared he would try and cut in front of me and cause an accident.... Other time was on a trip down to Winchester last week, I was cruising along and all of a sudden me and my friend who was in his Lotus Elise, were almost bullied out of the way by another Volvo V70 lol, again, I didn't entertain this guy so just got out the way. My car is lowered on springs and standard shocks. I am not 100% on how much it has been lowered by as the previous owner did it, I think it has got to be 40-60mm as it sits very low. The roads around here are not great and I feel every bump in the road and the car is forever rattling, this does not bother me too much but just curious as to whether this is what I should expect on a car lowered with just springs.....or whether there is a problem.... Never had a lowered or modified car before so don't know what to expect. Lee

My car is going into the garage in an hour, what else could I suggest they check..... could the driveshaft cause a hollow droning sound? If its the bearing or something else could they spot anything out of the ordinary while on ramps easy enough? Slightly off topic but im going to put in some 10w 40 castrol magnetec in, get the coolant changed, buy a new induction kit, but what difference would I expect to see by changing the distributor cap and the rotar arm....Im no mechanic but my work mate who used to have a valver says to do it. But I don't know what they do tbh and not sure what to look for in the car after having them done.... Any other cheap suggestions for me to change while its in there? Lee

So to do the front bearings would be about £100 or just under ISH, ok not too bad. But does it sound like it could be the bearings given my explanation, probably a bit vague but the best that I can offer im afraid..... Lee

Been hearing a drone from the car recently, not all the time though. It doesn't seem to happen when turning, just randomly occurs and braking, pressing clutch, accelerating doesn't seem to get rid of it..... I thought it might be a wheel bearing, sounds like drivers side front wheel, I may be wrong as im not great with the mechanics of cars. My question is, if it is a wheel bearing, how much can I expect to pay at a garage....is it a long job? Lee

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...

Took off the exhaust hangers on the centre section which were knackered, really stretched and exhaust was about 2 inches from the floor. Replaced with one that I bought from halfords (who had sweet f.a. in stock) which is a temporary measure, is not the correct hanger so still hanging low but safely. Will purchase some new ones tomorrow from the car parts place near work, was off ill today lol! But I seriously am ill so I doubt todays efforts will contribute much to my recovery.... Lee -
Right, spent some time on the car this weekend, but im really ill so been kind of restricted lol! Still have yet to get around to trying to fix this problem but its next on my list to attempt, where is the temp sensor located in the engine bay.....if I post a picture can someone point it out please, im really a novice with all this stuff but now I have an older car again im going to attempt as much as I can myself, with most stuff being more accessable and less scary looking lol! Got a link to this supersprint system? Is it loud, thing is with me is that I only really want it to be loud when pushed, when I am crawling around town I like it to be fairly quiet, because of my job need to remain fairly conspicuous....... But if it was what I was after I would probably be looking for a full system.... Lee
-
If i was going to buy a full system, and get it fitted by my VW specialist, would this be everything required?? http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/ ... id=3678021 If I went for a Milltek that is...... At £350 ish for an entire exhaust I think its reasonable, out of interest to buy a standard exhaust system how much would a replacement be........ Lee
-
it all seemed ok when i got under it today?? nothing seemed detached at all...... is it because my car is lowered that it is this far off the ground.... what i did notice is the rubber hangers were alot longer than the one in the picture above, could they have stretched... only thing is the exhaust didnt seem to have much play when pushing it up.... Lee
-
oh yeah, where are you then.....i have yet to see another corrado on the road since having mine lol!
-
Nice one, get some pictures up. I love mine, had it a few weeks now, although I already have a list of things to do and things I want to do to it, I am off work this w/e so going to attempt as many myself as I can. Lee

Bought and put on new number plates to tidy her up, standard font, blue panel on the left with white VW symbol, blue border with 'Corrado VR6' in the middle at the bottom. Im quite happy for £29.99. Tomorrow I hope to get under the car and fix the exhaust which a rubber hanger has gone on the center section the attempt to clean the engine bay as best I can, any advice on what I might have in the house that would work?? For some reason the Power Spray stuff by Flash popped into my head for the metal.......lol Lee -
the tickover when warm is very low, mine idles at about 600 ish, when cruising around i barely rise above 2000, prob why im a little suprised at the fuel consumption, i think im doing better thanmy V5 lol!

I live in Epsom, surrey. Lee

Just stuck my head under in the car park and didn't seem to see too much, is it something I really need to be underneath for? Is there any other possible cause if this rubber hanger is not the culprit?? Lee
-
http://www.nfauto.co.uk/exhaust_hanger.htm Is this what i am looking for?
-
So it is just a case of hopefully replacing the rubber hanger and attaching number 20 and number 18 together again keeping the exhaust inbetween? Looking at that diagram though I am curious as to why its hanging to one side of the car, it looks like it should be attached through the middle, so if one of 2 hangers goes should it not still be kind of balanced untill the second one goes? Im a novice so sorry if this is a bit mundane for you lol! Thanks Lee
-
Ok, I am not great with cars yet, still learning but if I bought this part, could you draw or point out the place where I would need to attach it please haha.... Lee
-
Here are some pictures of the culprit. Lee

Noticed this today, or rather someone behind me noticed and told me, but a clip or something must have broken as part of my exhaust is hanging VERY low. Is this something i can fix my self if I was to jack it up and take a look? Or does it look like something expensive which I hope it isn't..... Lee

are these a wider alloy then?
