  1. Location: Cardiff Price: 600.00 GBP Date added to Classifieds: 2nd Feb 2012 Description: Unfortunately i am having to sell my beloved Merv! Yes i have named him! he has been my faithful companion for the past 6/7 years but i dont have the know how or extra finances to keep him. He has literally just had his cambelt and tensioners done and regularly serviced by my local garage, he has a stainless steel exhaust and sports Cat, he has a sigma alarm and he was lowered by his previous owner. His known issues are that he has a wet patch behind the drivers seat but this could just be a seal, we have bypassed the heater matrix to check if this is the source of the leak in the back - there is no leak in the passenger footwell or badsmell so we do not believe there is any problem with the heater matrix. He is making a whining noise and occasionally revs high. he has a tooth missing in his sunroof track so this currently isnt working but the motor still works. in addition he will need a re-spray as his is red and fading, he also has a dink in the rear wheel arch - his rear vw badge is missing after i took him to get valeted and they broke it! if you are still reading after the bad bits - i can tell you the gearbox, clutch, brakes are all fine - all his electrics work, i replaced the innards of the driverside door handle with an aluminium part instead of the plastic because it kept breaking! his only has 120,000 mile on the clock and he is a k reg - starts everytime i ask him to. he currently has a kenwood face off stereo and an amp which i may or may not remove. he is taxed and tested until the end of March, His interior is in good shape - no tears or burns. i really am devastated to have to re-home him but my other half tells me i have too. i have treated him as well as a member of the family and tried to take care of him as best as i can. i can supply pictures if requested - as i havent had chance to take them yet as its too dark when i get home from work.
  2. Ok I have now been told that the crank and cylinders are worn?? I was told a quick fix would be to have the breathers cleaned out to stop the revving but it hasn't worked and the car is still revving albeit intermittently - does this sound right to anyone? Thanks for any help Nic
  3. honestly the garage keep saying the air intake valve, originally they said that it was most likely that the engine wasnt getting the right air flow as my car has once violently jerked forward when taking off in 1st gear and carried on until i managed to get it into 3rd.
  4. Hi I'm hoping everyone can help me on this one! my 2.0ltr corrado has started idling around the 1500-2000 revs mark and he usually sits happily at 1000 - having taken him to my usual garage they have diagnosed to scrap him!! From what they said the breathers/air inlets were either jammed on or off - they soaked said part/s in carburettor oil to clean it but my car is till revving i have now left my car with them overnight so they can soak said parts again in paraffin?? they have also said that oil is being pushed through and that the compression is getting too high??? I have been told that potentially i will need to replace the engine or scrap my car?? does anyone else have any better clues as to what might be going on?? my car is only 16 and has been really well looked after and i am gutted with the current death sentence hanging over him Thanks Nic
